  1. when we seem to be in the market for a player, other clubs just seem to throw a few extra mil on top, knowing that we will pay it and not haggle hes certainly an average player and a liability at times, granted he has good moments, but they are outweighed by poor performances lets see what stevens can do for the last half of the season doesnt lowry and baker play LB?
  2. hes just not good enough for where we should/want/need to be, squad player maybe, as back up, but hes only got so much game time as there was nobody else to push him, im really hoping stevens comes good, settles in and becomes a top international, a team of our stature should have of 'international quality' in every position (in theory)
  3. even though both hutton and collins are well, average, it would probably be more beneficial to have collins dropped with carlos in the middle than to have huitton dropped, carlos on the right and collins in the middle, collins is more of a liability than hutton for sure
  4. surely most footballers have to be realistic and see that any club in their right mind (not villa then) will offer them a long term contract, its a huge gamble, they would be lucky to get 1 yr
  5. oh how i would love to see them struggling and lingering like they used to in the lower leagues not going to happen though, money talks, now doubt somebody will step forward and help them
  6. i read earlier that drogba has had a fall out with chelsea as theyve only offered him a 1 year contract but obviously he wants more, hes early 30s now isnt he? dont expect to see much of drogba then, we all know how these foreign ego-fueled managers like to act
  7. due to my work pattern, i dont watch many films, havnt been to the cinema for years but last night, i finally got round to watching the inbetweeners movie and the damned united, both been out ages i know both great films
  8. id like to see him develop more into a CB, playing other positions will surely help, as said, he might not be as quick thinking as barry yet, but give it time, i reckon he could even be better in due course
  9. lets not get carried away with his performance, its one game, although, what a game for him, fair play to him, good to see him get stuck in a do what we all know he can do, also nice of him to play bent in for the 3rd goal, ireland could of easily took it as well but decided not to gamble the shot lets hope he does that next game
  10. the first player i used to release, nobody want him
  11. i still believe that a team should never field more than 2 youths at a time, 3 on the very odd occasion, its suicidal, no matter how good they are albrighton id like to see as a regular right winger, make that sport his, hes still got way far to go before he thinks hes made it mind clark id like to see developed into a solid centre back, no moving about, not a jack of all trades, but a master of one same goes for herd, but as a defensive midfielder, weve never really produced a solid DM, we either produce average strikers like richard walker or stefan moore, or weedy full backs
  12. wouldnt it just be great if sha was no more, no more whiney knuckle dragging fans, no more eyesore of a stadium, knock it down and build more houses shame it will never happen
  13. bent might not be scoring as many goals as we would like, but hes still scoring more than any striker we potentially buy after him, we just cant seem to buy natural goal scorers, bent is the best weve had since yorke, we would be crazy to sell him
  14. /\ i like your theory, cant really see 40k fans doing that though, lol
  15. this is the bent thread and should stay related to bent selling bent at a loss will do nothing positive for the club, so ye sure, he sells bent at a loss and plows that money towards the loan (himself) there will then be no money to reinvest or replace, and the squad gets weaker, the team suffers and we finish lower as we have no goal scorer great business randy!...
  16. thats probably going to be an issue, guzan might not want to be a bench player here, but if he goes anywhere else, theres more of a chance he will be a bench player else where, hes best of here behind a 35 yr old who will be picking up injuries alot more often, than he would behind a younger keeper else where
  17. a work mate (liverpool fan) put on facebook yesderday that liverpool have open talks with villa about bent why cant this club just say 'no, hes not for sale', 5 simple words
  18. lol, werent refering to little petey
  19. im not too fussed if he likes a pipe it was only a few years ago we had a certain youth in midfield playing regularly who we all knew liked the white powder
  20. i agree, even when given is back fit, it wouldnt be fair for him to take his place back and guzan to be dropped, surely even given as a professional can see that, after all, he was dropped behind a kid at man city, guzan should be given a long enough run out to prove himself
  21. as much as its good to see the youths coming through, and lets be honest, with previous managers they werent given the chance, i think now that we have too many in the first team, but that i dont believe is AMs fault, its just he cant strengthen properly, theres a few kids in the first team that wont make it, but theyre there to make numbers up with the money being spent on the youth system, its only right we produce a diamond or 2 every season, as well as being able to sell a player or 2 that wont make it here, but will else where for me, fonz, delph and lowry may be worth shipping out clark has won me over, im a fan of albrighton, not sure about bannan yet, would like to see more of gardner and weimann
  22. i dont recall the club ever being in this much mess the team we have is useless, we cant strengthen it as we have no money, and even if we did, we have a manager that wouldnt know how to, a chairman thats now making bad decisions and is more concerned about lining his own pockets, same goes for most of the players, links to our best players leaving what a shambles, i stopped going to the villa because of the negativity, by coming on here, im still seeing it everyday, not that im saying its VT's fault, what im saying is when are us fans going to have some good news?
  23. what i earn isnt important (yes i am in minimum wage) what is important is that a striker is the highest earner at the club and he does nothing, he contributes nothing for the wages he is on, we could have a better striker and another player on the same amount, and we would be better off, why is it so wrong on here to want value for money? heskey is not value for money, my original post was a bold statement in what we should expect for that kind on money just out of curiousity, does anybody on here have the information of the highest earners in the team? im guessing heskey, petrov and bent are amongst the highest, yet we need bent and petrov, so how do we get round that?
