  1. Ok. No point in us signing another central midfielder then is there? Especially with the emergence of Ramsey. With Buendia and Bailey on the wings as well, we’ll cruise into the top 8 and potentially Europe.
  2. I don’t agree that Luiz, Traore or McGinn are too 6-8 players. If they were, we wouldn’t have finished 11th last season with Grealish in the team.
  3. The 6 players who played in midfield last night: Tielemans Maddison Ndidi Rice Soucek Benrahma Not one of our midfielders would start ahead of those. Anyone saying that what we have gets us anywhere near a top 8 finish is off their tits. We need 2 new players in there. Or 1 and we settle for somewhere around 11th. Just depends how patient the board are for success.
  4. I know. I swear some people view football through the lens of stats. So much more to it than that.
  5. Yep. He’ll need to be replaced if we want to kick on.
  6. The idea that new players can’t hit the ground running is nonsense. It’s why clubs do the research on personality and charisma before they join. Sometimes it goes wrong, but there are plenty of cases of players being superb from the off. Coufal and Soucek didn’t seem to have any issues performing. We still need two players if we are serious about kicking on from last season. Everything else points to a 10th-14th place finish - which is fine, if that’s in line with the boards ambition.
  7. I agree. I’d like McKennie but we have Luiz, McGinn, Sanson, JJ who can all play that role. Chuk might be a year or two off yet but he’s more of a 10 I think. Either way, unless the McKennie deal is too good to turn down, I can’t see the club prioritising it.
  8. Their fans don’t want to sell him. I think he has impressed hasnt he?
  9. McKennie and Delaney would certainly make us tougher in the middle of the pitch..
  10. You could be right, mate. I still think a loan for Chuk would do him good.
  11. Absolutely. It’s great to see. Just don’t bank on him never leaving because he’s a Villa fan or has come through the academy. Hoepfully we’ll be a CL club when the two Ramsey’s are scrapping on stage over the Ballon d’or trophy.
  12. Exactly. Just buy him AND Sarr for 30m. Spurs will only pay transfer fees over the course of about 10 years so we can beat them for Sarr. Sarr and Doucoure in. Nakamba, Hourihane and El Ghazi out. Then possibly loan out one of Chuk or JPB.
  13. Totally with you on this. Grealish was one of our own, even when we overlooked the fact he tried to leave every transfer window. Then, when we wouldn’t allow one of our own to leave, one of our own had something written into his contract that meant we had choice whether he stayed or not. Ramsey might be different, he may stay at the club even if his ability outweighs our league position, but I wouldn’t hold out any hope. Anyway, yeh, he’s good. Hopefully he keeps improving.
  14. Be a shame for him to leave for nothing. I’d accept any reasonable offer this summer and reinvest it.
  15. Smith deserves a good crack at this season. The only situation where he goes is if we’re looking like a relegation side around Xmas. I think the board will be asking questions then.
  16. I see your point but in a couple of weeks time, we’ll have a fit Buendia, Bailey, Traore and Watkins. Honestly, he offers so little that I’d be more than happy selling him and if the situation arose again with the injuries we have now, I’d be happy with any one of the youngsters deputising. That’s the thing with El Ghazi, I think he’s that terrible that nobody else coming in could play worse. He lost the ball so often against Newcastle. He’s a parody at this point.
  17. Starting him on the right against Watford was batshit crazy. It’s decisions like that, that make me genuinely question Smith (who I’m fully behind). El Ghazi is tragically poor on the left in most of the games he plays, but on the right, he’s a whole new level of bad. It was a stupid decision and contributed to our woeful first half performance. I too thought JPB was great in pre-season whilst AEG was poor, so it was daft he started against Watford.
  18. He’s rubbish even in the games he scores. No assists last season says it all. No point in discussing El Ghazi much as he won’t be in the side after the international break. Hopefully he’s sold before then.
  19. Put it this way. When Traore, Trezeguet, Sanson, Watkins and Bailey are back, el Ghazi will do very well to make the squad. I don’t think he gets a look in if the above weren’t injured.
  20. As a footballer, yes, I can see why people call him shit and useless. Again, doesn’t mean they hate the bloke. There is a difference. Honestly, his performances against Newcastle and Watford were shit!
  21. Lol. ‘Whatever he does’. Play poorly you mean? The man scored a penalty. Outside of that, he was our worst player and arguably the worst player on the pitch. He isn’t rubbish, he just isn’t anywhere near the level we need him to be at. He can count himself extremely lucky, having spent the money we have, to be even in the squad on match days. Injuries have meant he has had to start.
