  1. I don't get why people are saying this. They have QPR who have won 4 games all season. I know Newcastle have only won 1 away game all season, but surely there is 1 point or maybe 3 to be had there? Whilst acknowledging that QPR are a bit of a shambles, they will doubtless play with a bit more freedom now. Add to that some players will be keen to engineer moves away so may start turning on the style to secure themselves a summer move. When QPR are bad, they're horrible but they also have some very useful players and can play good football. If they play like they did in the first half at VP they will win no problem.
  2. However, I do think (and you can quote me) that Newcastle won't take a single point for the rest of this season
  3. I fear 40 won't be enough either (especially with our goal difference). Wigan perfectly capable of beating the Boggies and Swansea, which would lift them to 39 points and just requiring a victory against us. My head hurts thinking of all these permutations
  4. Anyone ever read James Nursey's articles in the mirror? Full of 'hear say' and 'I understands'. I doubt he knows what is going on! Also, he says the Sunderland game was the most important result for 3 years in this article. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/aston-villas-thrashing-sunderland-most-1865385 ......But not a mention of which result from 3 years ago he is talking about.
  5. They'll win vs QPR I am confident QPR will get a positive result. There are one or two players in the shop window now.
  6. Just seen. Turner is doubtful, as is Bassong who limped off against Stoke on Saturday. This is our chance. We ran them ragged in the league cup back in December.
  7. on soccer saturday they said Norwich defenders have more goals than their forwards Didn't someone suggest further up the board that their two first choice centre backs might be injured for Saturday?
  8. I wish we could've saved up a couple of goals from the Sunderland game and transferred them to the Norwich game.
  9. I could conceivably see Newcastle not taking a single point for the rest of the season - QPR (A), West Ham (A) and Arsenal (H). QPR will want to give their fans something to cheer, West Ham are on a run of form and Arsenal are knocking on the door of the champions league. Who knows? We might only need one point to be safe.
  10. Tragic. I think we lose perspective sometimes about the fact that football is just a game. This brings it home.
  11. The Di Canio/Sunderland love in will end in tears. He may be able to bully league one/two players but it'll be totally different in the prem. They'll tell him to get fudged. Many of them will see it as a chance to get out of Sunderland too. And who wouldn't want an opportunity like that?
  12. I remember back in December wondering whether Chelsea would be in the right physical/mental state of mind following a long flight back from the middle east and an intense fixture schedule. We know what happened next................
  13. I just hope the Baggies do us a favour at the weekend. I know a few of their fans who are hoping they lose just to put extra pressure on us. Hate the idea of supporting the Baggies
  14. I don't mind Wolves and would quite like to see them survive (hate Blues and Baggies), especially as Dean Saunders is one of my all time favourite Villa players. However, not sure he was the right man for the job in the first place. Didn't have enough experience for me to take over a club the size of Wolves. Moxey deserves all he gets though for the stupid decision to get rid of McCarthy.
  15. I heard there are 4 bus loads of blues fans going up to the DW on the last game of the season. If true, this qualifies as their biggest away following of the season.
  16. Be honest, has anyone had a small/large flutter on us going down just to soften the blow if our worst fears are realised?
  17. I think Blues might have thought they had a home banker when in the midst of a relegation scrap Fulham visited St Andrew's 2 years ago.
  18. Does anyone ever read the tweets of the mirror journalist James 'wild stab in the dark' Nursey? Said that Clark would be fit for Saturday. Seems every claim/bit of inside info he makes/has seems to be wrong. How do these people survive in journalism?
  19. I don't care, as long as it's not us.
  20. I don't think either of us will go to be honest. Look at Sunderland's run in. It's got to be them.
  21. I'll certainly be backing Chelsea in the cup semi next weekend.
  22. I heard she was being lined up as the next Sunderland manager

    Barton

I think someone mentioned earlier in this thread or another thread that one day Barton will find himself in the wrong place at the wrong time and take a proper shoe-ing
  24. I think two incidents from the weekend epitomised this relegation battle. Stoke had a shot from just outside the area and Baker took one in the face for the team. Yesterday Taraabt ducked a free kick to avoid a painful one. For me, this dispels the fear that we don't have the bottle. I think our young lions are well up for this, and crucially, in the sort of form to see us over the line!
  25. Anyone here have any companies whose services/products you refuse to buy through being screwed over? Halfords and the AA have most recently been added to my list. Been screwed around by both. Both are in the same group, yet Halfords have charged me £50 to re-diagnose a fault which has already been diagnosed by the AA. This quite apart from shocking customer services.
