  1. I said this is why I suspect he's been picked all these years by all of our managers, then quoted one of said managers saying exactly that. It's not as some ringing endorsement or anything, just to give insight as to perhaps why all of our managers clearly favoured him. His or any of their respective managerial ineptitude or whether or not he or they were liked are completely irrelevant.
  2. Yes, exactly this. And this. Thought I was pretty clear.
  3. This is most definitely true. But I feel like their presence and influence is hugely overstated, probably thanks to illusory nature of social media. Apart from some weird stuff going on in a few college campuses, they have pretty much zero influence outside of Twitter and Tumblr. Meanwhile, their counterparts the alt-right are holding meetings on how they can influence policy with some of their big shots being given big positions in Trump's team.
  4. He definitely does that and I suspect this is the reason he's been a constant in our team all these years. Throughout these 5 seasons, there has been nobody better than him at doing that despite all his other shortcomings. Quite incredible that we've gone so many years without signing someone comparable in that department apart from Veretout who we've now discarded for some reason. Especially this season, now that we've been splashing the cash. Here's Tim Sherwood (not exactly the paragon of managerial wisdom, but still) on why he realized he was vital to the team, after leaving him out of his first few games.
  5. That dance was too sick . Here's to more goals from Albert.
  6. I wonder how other fans see that. They must be weirded the ***** out.
  7. Regarding that ball against Brighton, I suspect the reason he has been a constant in our sides all these years is that despite his numerous faults he's probably our only midfielder who could play those types of passes somewhat consistently. This is more a criticism of our recruitment history than any praise of Westwood. I remember Sherwood in particular after initially leaving out of the side, eventually acquiescing and starting him regularly for that very reason.
  8. I see we're whipping out the pass completion stats among others, that used to be meaningless
  9. Hail victory! Call me Alt-right-to-left.
  10. If Bruce was here from the start, we would have been 3rd on 36 points, keeping the pressure on Newcastle
  11. A whole week of silence after a good performance it gonna blow over in the Westwood thread
  12. My sister has it, it is a lovely phone for the price. The battery life is also immense. Way too large a screen got me though. I recently bought a OnePlus 3 and it is superb. Just my luck they released the 3T a couple of weeks later
  13. In your heart of hearts, do you really believe this?
  14. First thing that came to mind. Pretty sure I read somewhere that the median income of Trump supporters was $70,000 which is pretty much the definition of middle class. I think the whole 'poor and alienated' stuff is blown way out of proportion. Edit: Found it, it's $72,000 which is a good 10k above the national median. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/world/us-election/the-average-trump-supporter-is-not-an-economic-loser/article32746323/comments/
  15. Trump's election has completely legitimized them. They even say as much. From fringe nutjobs to pretty much mainstream in the space of a year. Incredible.
  16. I can't believe that this is even a news headline in the 21st century.
  17. Wait wait wait, people are defending the Trump sieg heiling? Is anything universally off limits anymore?
  18. Not sure if this has been posted already Yikes.
  19. If the question is who would you choose if you were from the city, then the answer is cut and dry imo. The very fact that we're comparing rural whites to urban blacks says it all tbh.
  20. Great post. The U.S. is very odd, there's a huge urban/rural divide for the most developed country the world has ever seen. Huge swathes of the country are still stuck in the mid 20th century it seems. In the cities, there is an undoubtable disparity that exists between white people and everyone else...but it just can't be translated in the same way to the rural areas of the country. Not only does that dynamic exist in the same way at least, the rural whites are almost as disadvantaged as everyone else. The conversation to be had should be more nuanced, especially with some parts of the left being very heavy handed with their critiques and parts of the right being very reactionary. As we've seen all that does is alienate the working class and push them towards voting for someone like Trump.
  21. I think the whole SJW movement has been completely blown out of proportion, and for good reason. It's the perfect way to bring people on side if you're the alt-right etc. Textbook reactionary politics. I've said it before, but the far right have played the game to perfection whereas the DNC and co have proven to be incredibly naive.
  22. The U.S. is a very odd place. Luckily I'm Canadian, so things aren't anywhere near as bonkers up there I imagine things to be on much more of an even keel in the U.K. , which is why from what I can tell there isn't as much activism as there is in the U.S.
