  1. I would imagine that at some point in the future, we will find some half inhabitable place, where we could plant some single cell ameba, and go and check up on it now and again. Help them out a bit every now and again. But what would that make us?
  2. TFC VS DC Tomorrow. Home opener for Toronto, looking forward to this.
  3. Re discover myself while viewing the internet.
  4. I don't agree with this. For example Australia would have had to do a fair bit of development to turn our Oval stadiums into football friendly stadiums for the tournament. But we'd have done so without killing thousands of slaves. FIFA are horrendously corrupt and until a band of bigger countries are prepared to strongarm FIFA into putting the right people into leadership or alternatively, break away from FIFA altogether, nothing will change. It's a fair point but based on my opinion you would have to stick to the rules. Become a football country first, then be taken seriously. Understandibly, Austrailia would not use slave labour in a conversion project. And I agree that it would not be the undertaking of a Quatar. Even if you were ready to go, like my comment states, your government is too transparent for the underlying corrupt bidding process. I'm also not buying this "selling football to the world" Why? Does it need everyonee to love it? Will it be the winter Olyimpics in the West Indies next? There are enough countries that would be ready to go right away, but that doesent factor into it as we know it's all about the bribes.
  5. It's become a shambles. In my opinion, no country should even be able to bid, unles the infastructure and the stadiums are already in place. Now, it's the countries who's governments have the least transparency, that get the prize.
  6. Completely agree on the pundit anoyance. How does the opinion of a mediocre, half witt, who's contribution to the game was to run around like a mad dog, count? Really, I would rather hear from Ron Manager.lol
  7. Maybe he was just simply not Captain material, Many can do an amazing job in any field, but to lead is a different role.
  8. The Villa made Liverpool look very ordinary. Even with the home crowd, Suarez had only his thespian skills for effect. Good job Villa.
  9. This is a big deal for Toronto. The promo add was great. Londoners reading papers, watching the news, then spitting out the beer or tea in shock upon hearing the news. Pretty funny. They have a great fan base here, the home games are electric, considering it's a hockey mad town. They seem to be spending some money now, so waiting to see. Wish I could say the same about my home club. (Born Aston, moved to Canada) We have great coverage of the prem. So I have a great view of both worlds. Cheers
  10. That Villa team of 77 was the best attacking team I have ever seen, especially at home. Gray, Little & Deehan were phenominal that season & if it hadn't of been `Budgie` in goals we could easily have won the league that season. I know right? Cowans was awesome as well. Left in early Jan.77 so that was cruel for me. Burridge yeah. Didn't we have Spink then? No. Burridge was replaced by Jimmy Rimmer the following season. One of the best ever £ for £ signings Aston Villa (Saunders) ever made. Spink eventually took over from Rimmer most notably in our greatest game ever, though Spinky had played against Forest in late 81 deputising for the injured Rimmer. Thanks for that. The coverage here was dismal at that time. But now, we get pretty much all games, and some of the pundit stuff. I do remember standing in the Holte End when Villa would score, then that big push forward...Good old days eh? Cheers Yes CanVillan, those certainly were the good old days & I'm glad to know we were both lucky enough to experience them. Cheers. Me too, thanks. Just realized it's late for y'all (assuming you are there) Hope we turn it around re. 'getting to know the ball a bit better' this season. Cheers

  13. Left for Canada in early 1977 so the last time I remember watching them at Villa Park, it was Andy Gray and Brian Little banging them in. I think the last game I was at, was either Newcastle or Borough. Cheers
  14. It will be interesting to see if both Downing or Young, will get as much England time as they did with Villa. They featured in every game they they were fit, and Cappello was at many games. I forsee a lot of bench time in the future for these guys based on the clubs they are going to, and Cappello is big on who is performing at the moment. We shall see.
