    Weimann and Bent to start up front next season.. Weimann is the missing link. Gabby I don't know where he's gonna go, may have to find a different club unless he trains hard in pre-season to be a permanent winger.

    Ireland is too smart for our side.. I know it gets said every time but we have to rebuild the side around him. If we sign another lot of players that are thick as shit we'll continue to be using him at 50% of his potential.

    He was unfortunate in the second half.. I think he second guessed himself given the time on the clock when he got the chance. He knew the team hadn't had many chances and didn't want to waste it. He caught himself in two minds.. Shoot and possibly score, miss and waste a chance, or pull it back and play it to Gabby in a better position. He chose the later and seemed to lose composure when he saw how many defenders were closing in on him. He'll get more composure as he has more games in the Premier League so he'll learn from this.

    Carruthers didn't play tonight even though Gardner and Bannan were average.. Played out of position just like I mentioned earlier. Should have played would have probably done better, we couldn't have done any worse.

    We had 7 shots 3 of which were on target.. The only shots on target were pretty much Weimann's.

    Weimann gets MOTM for me without his goal this would have been a loss.. He needs to start every game from now on he's the only striker we have right now with any quality the rest are a waste of space. Ireland was good again today and Herd put in a shift until he was KO'd.. Lichaj was solid again, though the rest of our squad need to improve rapidly.

    A draw isn't our fault.. Everything we've done to a Stoke player no matter how light has been given as a free kick. Our players are walking on eggshells they don't know what is a foul or not in the eyes of the ref.

    We just need to weather the storm.. Every team attacks a bit more after going down, once their adrenaline wears off we'll be free to go forward a bit more.

    McLeish is even shouting from the sidelines to keep possession, pass it more and to get forward.. Much of the time. I do think if we get some better players we will start playing the kind of football we want to see. We have some of the players already they just need adding to.

    42pts 2005/06 So after missing out on our home run this could end up being an historic record breaking season after all :? McLeish after 17 games had 19 points.. In O'Leary's last season he had 17 points after 17 games. If McLeish can't beat 42 points when at the same point in O'Leary's last season he had 2 points more he is truly bad.

    Unfortunately we are now in the position where we have to hope McLeish spends it well.. We are in a situation where if we don't buy anyone we go down.. We could still go down after buying but we would have at least tried to stay up. If we went down having not spent a penny you know for a fact Sky Sports would be saying, "if only they spent in the summer" ignoring McLeish completely.

    It seems better to me to play a true winger than Bannan or Gardner out of position. I play Carruthers with the intention of if it doesn't work replace him at half-time.. I think it's worth a risk though as if Albrighton was fit he'd be playing instead and right now given his form he'd be a risk as well.

    According to his twitter after the match he posted; "Can't believe it,, I'll never forget this day,, debut against Liverpool and should of had a pen! Fans were unbelievable today #utv" I think playing raised his confidence and morale even more. It's good that he see's the lack of penalty and possible the yellow as unjust. It's when players dwell on stuff it becomes and issue.. He's young though he won't focus on the negatives.

    I still hope it was Lerner's masterplan.. Hire some chump to reduce wages, outline to the board which players need to go and lower fan expectations.. He'll then fire him when safe, hire someone better with the mission objective of "clear out these players and here's £50 million, rebuild" One can dream anyway..

    Who else would you play? Bannan out of position? Gardner out of position? Carruthers is a winger and would do well on the wing. Yes he made of meal of a tackle, but he also did something a Villa player hasn't done in years and tricked his way round Gerrard twice making him look stupid.. The kid has quality. If it doesn't work out bring him off at half-time, but he's worth a try given if Albrighton was fit he'd be starting and most days he's not all that great.

    Given Lichaj - Collins - Cuellar - Warnock N'Zogbia - Herd - Ireland - Carruthers Weimann - Agbonlahor That's how I'd set it up.. Can't see Weimann or Agbonlahor not scoring with that kind of support. That's if Carruthers, Ireland or N'Zogbia don't score one for themselves.
