  1. There were a few times where he'd done amazingly well to get through their lines and then played the wrong ball, or a ball to no-one. A more mature player maybe would have a clearer picture in their head in those situations. The only names that come to mind though were world class so that's a good sign;
  2. Teenager against one of the best sides in European football and 99% of the time looked like he was a cut above. Pace to burn and there was a few times when he'd got tight and tracked back a player he'd pressed when he peeled off at the perfect moment to keep the defensive shape and let someone else step in to intervene. He's class for me this one, in a couple of years we'll do well to keep him.
  3. Whilst I'm excited as you are, a genuine 10 has a bit more awareness of the bigger picture. He'll get there, but he's not a Baggio or a Totti yet...
  4. As good as he was there's some simple things to improve in key moments. After some incredible work a couple of times he could have looked up and been more aware of where his teammates were. I'm not complaining as his performance today was at a level that means we've got a top top player here and with Emery working with him it's a dream combo.
  5. Yeah City are still a bit in front of them but it was a really high level game against incredible players who've gone gone close twice against City over 38 games. If we're at a level where we're competing at their level (having beat them and city last term) then we should really be pinching ourselves at how far we've come. They did really well to keep the ball away from us at the start and make sure we didn't get a head of steam up. You could say that was a mark of respect and them fearing us starting fast and getting momentum, but it's more than likely what they will try to do to everyone.
  6. Thought Ned was very good, he will be one of the first names on the team sheet before long.
  7. Don't think we were especially poor at the start but after the goal, we'd made the changes and it took the wind out of our sails. For the most part we were really good today, bodes well for the season. Ollie hasn't got the minutes in his legs yet like he rest of them, and you could argue the same for Emi. We did enough to win that and that should be enough to be satisfied with that performance today. It means we can compete with the very best teams in this league and I reckon we will only get better. Never fun to lose but very positive signs and I for one am keeping the faith and am pleased with how good we are already, the best is yet to come.
  8. Done really well today, made enough chances to win it in a very tight, intense and technical game played at a very very high level. If we don't get it back to a draw then I certainly won't be panicking. We are competing with the best and if Ollie had been sharper (not had a pre-season) we'd have been two up before they scored.
  9. No to both from me, not where we should be looking at all. The days of last fat contract signings are gone thankfully, and Sancho whilst he's not last contract material would want a fat wage and we can and have found better value
  10. They don't like it up 'em Start fast, full house, roar of the holte, tearing forwards, their defenders, like deer caught in the headlights, the sound of ball ripping into the net, the smell of the grass, jumpers for goalposts, isn't it? Not half!
  11. Totally, that's why his agents getting in his ear for a move was so **** stupid. This season if he gets his head down and works hard he will get loads of games in the cups and good minutes in the PL and probably the CL too. At this stage of his career working with Emery and having those opportunities is probably as good as it gets for him.
  12. Well, whilst it's only the first game, the same people who told us we were shite after the first arsenal win, that we wouldn't get Europe and that Tottenham would get 4th, united would catch us, that we'd gone backwards this summer, that our preseason was awful... Can we all take a moment to enjoy how **** awesome we've been for ages, and how good we looked at times today even though we're a long way from felling with all the new faces etc. Very very rosey in the villa garden, Emery and his appointments are only getting started too.
  13. We look good, soft as **** pen. Three points here playing well is a statement, hopefully we can make it.
  14. It doesn't take a brain sturgeon to work out this was all BS.
  15. Stan! Remember those days, went down a bit that season.
  16. Yeah, it would have been nice to have seen us really purring for 90 mins a game before the season started but Emery in that Talk sport interview was steely focused, I know where you're coming from but I also think we might hit the ground running and be prepared really well for this.
  17. Loving would be easy if your commas were like my dreams.
  18. Seems very focused again, he thinks we've improved the squad. I'd love to watch some training in the next two days, I've a feeling we might hit the ground running.
  19. Not even that roundabout, very explicitly explains the Luiz and Diaby transfers were 100% related to financial rules, Luiz PSR and Diaby SCR. As depressing as that may be I'm happy we are finally being run properly.
  20. You're right there, it takes a special kind of word removed to write for the mail.
  21. I'm not paying to read the **** mail, I'd rather take a hammer to my balls. Care to explain why the anxiety and panic in the hierarchy?
