This is our first game in the PL against a very good team. We are doing ok. Remind me what the score was when the men played this fixture last year in very similar circumstances!

Why? I am all for equality in every way but a pitch only has so much play in it. If the pitch can’t stand up to all of those fixtures then surely the men’s team has to take priority. If the women’s team were the club’s premier team then I would say that the men’s team should not play at VP.

Will they be playing all the home games at VP? Can’t be good for the surface surely?

I know what you mean. I always think Tammy makes bad decisions and it limits him a bit. Ollie is the opposite. He reads the game well and makes the right choices.

The 5 players I think we need are GK, RB, CM, RW and CF. It seems bizarre that we do not seem to be focusing on RW and CM. These are the most important positions in my mind. An athletic box to box midfielder and a speedy RW will transform our team. We really need to be focused on getting these players in. I would take Watkins and forget Wilson. We only play one up front and Wes will be back soon. With Luiz, SJM and a new CM we could actually boss quite a few PL teams. Watkins and a speedy RW would give us a counter attacking threat against the better teams. This is something that we totally lacked last season. I am happy with Cash. He is a quality player. He could easily play for England in the non too distant future. He has a good character too. The Man U keeper would be ok but I would take a punt on Butland. He is a good age and he just needs a move to re-ignite his career. His confidence is shot at Stoke. A move to us could transform him. He will not cost much either. Still lots to do but we have time still.

I have just been watching some streams of this guy. I am starting to warm to the prospect of signing him. He seems to be a bit of an all rounder who will hopefully continue to grow. I will be very happy if this goes through. Good attitude too.

Just not sold by him at all. I can understand why we would gamble on Watkins but this just feels a bit desperate to me. I really hope he signs for Newcastle. He is a classic potato head signing.

Nonsense. I genuinely had a tenna on us to finish top 4 last season. If we sign Rashica and Eduoard I will make it a hundred this year

He has lost a bit of pace. It’s unlikely that he will get it back now after his injury problems. It’s enough to take the edge off his ability. I am absolutely certain that this would be a huge mistake. I really hope it is not true! Origi, Watkins, Eduoard, Iheanacho any of those ahead of Wilson. We need pace and a high work rate. Wilson has neither any more.

It’s a no from me. Have the same feeling about this that I had when we signed Drinkwater on loan. At least we got to send him back.

Blimey. What do you think is happening then? Of course we are working hard to get the right players in. It is not an easy process. It will happen. I just hope we don’t get frustrated and go for our lesser targets. We need to hold our nerve.

So pleased for Jack. He really deserves this. Hope he smashes it.

I will have a look at previous seasons to see his other goals. If you look at the goals he scored last season, almost all of them are ones that he can’t really miss. There are only a couple that you think the odds are against him scoring. Compare that to Eduoard who scores some absolute belters. From what I have seen so far, I would be much happier if we signed him and left Ollie to prove himself elsewhere.

If we use him as anything other than a striker I will be very worried. He has questions to be answered over his ability as a cf at premier league level but he really was an average wide forward in the Championship. I hope he proves me wrong but this feels like a bit of a desperate move to me. I think Wes is better.

Do you think he will be successful at Villa and if so why? I saw quite a bit of Maupay before he moved and he looked good enough to me. He was technically good, strong and very clever. I don’t have the same feeling with Watkins. He is obviously better than Hogan but is he really that much better?

I’ve seen Cash a few times. He is worth the gamble. He is quick and strong. Very attacking but also knows how to defend. He reads the play well and takes up good positions. He is a big upgrade on Elmo and Fred in my view and he has plenty of growth left in him. I also like Bogle at Derby. I’m sure he will be in the PL next season too.

I am so worried about this signing. It is a huge risk. He very much reminds me of Darren Bent. Great when he is in a very good attacking team that creates umpteen chances for him but that will not happen at Villa where he will often be isolated and having to deal with two centre half’s on his own. If you watch the play off final, Fulham dominated the ball and Brentford’s attacking midfield players could not get in the game. As as result Watkins was totally anonymous. He caused the Fulham centre half’s no problems whatsoever. Is this going to be the reality every week in the PL? I admit that I have not seen too much of him but I have never been impressed.

I am not yet concerned about the lack of signings there is plenty of time and it’s critical that we get it right. If they all sign in the last day, then although not ideal, it’s better than getting the wrong signings albeit much earlier. I am concerned about the lack of speculation relating to centre midfield and right forward. These are the two biggest weaknesses in our team at the moment, closely followed by cf, right back and gk. We are being linked to rb’s, gk’s and cf but apart from very loose links to Rashica and McKennie, rf and cm seem to be getting ignored. To be honest if we only bought a cf, cm and rf I would be happy but they need to be if sufficient quality. Sarr, McKennie and Eduoard would transform our team. We would be top 10 with ease. I know McKennie is likely to go to Juventus and Sarr looks likely to sign for the plop but there are plenty of other players of similar standing around.
