  1. No he doesn't. The club have confirmed that none of our players have release clauses. I believe they have done so several times.
  2. A player can only request to change which national team once. Fifa statement from the switch: "The single judge decided to accept the request of the Football Association and the player Jack Grealish based on article eight paragraph one in conjunction with article five paragraph three of the regulations governing the application of the FIFA statutes." The specific rule: "If a player has more than one nationality, or if a player acquires a new nationality, or if a player is eligible to play for several representative teams due to nationality, he may, only once, request to change the Association for which he is eligible to play international matches to the Association of another country of which he holds nationality." By commiting to England he used up his one time switch.
  3. Not really. We have the 18th highest wage bill in the league, and in professional sports success is closely correlated with how big our wage bill is, so if anything, we're overachieveing.
  4. No it wasn't. Grealish got injured against City in October and the England team wasn't announced until two weeks later. He missed both the Liverpool and Wolves games which were the two games before the break.
  5. The biggest fallacy in sports, that past success = future success. Benteke is 29. He's in his "prime". He has scored 4 goals in 3 seasons. Injuries have ruined him, he's a busted flush.
  6. Three different players have go at foulng Grealish, when one of them finally brings him down, it's somehow not a foul?
  7. Not to mention he is actuallycelebrating, you can see him punching his fists.
  8. And we're 1 point behind with Brighton at home next, we could be above them in two weeks, when's the last time that happened outside the first 2/3 games of a season?
  9. I really shouldn't have underestimated how shit Man Utd are...
  10. Rojo on and Tuanzebe was moved to RB, is the fourth official sure he wasn't given that change by Bruce?
  11. Bruce hasn't beaten Utd in 22 games, and has only gotten 5 draws, he just rolls over and gets his belly rubbed when playing them. Man Utd are the only team Bruce has faced more than 3 times as a manager and not beaten, no way that changes today with this Newcastle team.
  12. Don't let players on hat-tricks take penalties, has Smith never played Football Manager?
  13. Hourihane assist to Wesley, so happy VT doesn't pick the team
  14. Something else that's bugging me about this "dive", how many players go up to a player they haven't touched and has "dived" against them, and try to calm them down and drag them from the ref like Cahill did? He knew he'd fouled Grealish and was calming him down instead of screaming in his face like most players normally do, that is not the reaction of a player who has been "justified" by the ref.
  15. I genuinely believe the FA/Premier League are trying to purposefully make VAR shit because they're ideologically opposed to it (It exposes how shit and unaccountable the Refs are). This game just confirms it for me. It's been utilised in so many sports to improve the game, and yet football is somehow too special for it to work despite it being the richest sport in the world...
  16. Smith just been asked on Sky whether Grealish's reputation is proceeding him. It was his second ever yellow for simulation. And just like the first, it was a yellow for a stonewall penalty...
  17. Ah, to be fair to them, I think that's a sarcastic vote. You just need to look at their comments to see that the clearly don't think he had a good game.
  18. We may not have been great, but we scored an equaliser which the ref ruled out because he's incompetent. I say that's enough to blame the ref for this game. We literally did enough to draw but he took it away from us...
  19. Is Archer meant to be a striker? Seems he's playing out on the right and Lansbury is up front.
  20. Scores one goal with his shoulder and now he's going for every header shoulder first.
  21. I can; McGinn - His touch was awful today and showed that despite his other qualities, his technical ability is not quite Premier League standard in my opinion. Was a good presence but lost the ball far too much with poor touches and running into trouble. Elmo - A touch of Hutton syndrome today. Got forward well but was mostly rubbish with his crosses, although more because they had no pace rather than all going in row z. Heaton - Not much to do, but the mistake for the penalty was **** stupid. Perhaps one of the worst mistakes I've seen from a Villa player in recent years. Until the second goal... Wesley - Didn't get great service, but was a bit ineffectual himself. Trezeguet - Had some really poor movement at times and I felt he held on the ball for far too long only to pass back to Elmo a bit too much. He also failed to beat the full back quite a lot too when he did try to take them on. El Ghazi - A couple decent crosses in the first half but a bit anonymous overall. Although I do wonder how much poor overlapping plays apart in his and Trezeguet's poor game. So there's 6. And there's probably arguments for Douglas Luiz, Taylor, Jota and Davis too. Perhaps harsh on Davis as he wasn't on for long though. Then bear in mind Grealish created 6 chances, won a load of free kicks, got an assist and could have scored himself. All this isn't to write these guys off, I thought we were unlucky to lose, but quite a few players were worse than Grealish today and didn't play well.
