  1. Yes he was booed by a section of fans last night but to call them retards is distasteful no matter whether you support him or not. Everyone is entitled to their opinion as long as it is based on reasoned fact. Just because it may differ from yours there is no need to use that rather uneducated description to dismiss their opinion.
  2. Appears you are being paid less than the minimum wage?
  3. I'm no fan of Collins but from my viewpoint at The Britannia he had a decent game so credit where credit's due. I'm not so sure that him and Dunne are best buddies - when I've seen him out and about he's always with Matt Etherington.
  4. 100% this. Had Mcleish adopted a more positive attitude late on we could've been looking at 3 points instead of 1. Stoke were poor yesterday. What we lacked was a midfielder that could make runs into space as both Gabby and Fonz to a lesser extent dragged the centre halves out of position. We didn't have the creativity on the pitch to exploit the space left behind although there were a couple left sitting on the bench.......
  5. Ok, but what has he done that the vast majority of other owners wouldn't have done. None of us like McLeish but who was the alternative, McLaren? Perhaps he should have continued spending but how much is enough? Should he just ignore the UEFA regs in the hope that they'll go away? I honestly dont get the level of hatred shown towards him on here. I'm not saying there aren't better owners out there but there's also a lot worse. Whilst I share your sentiments on Lerner, I dont agree with other areas of your post. You make it sound like McLeish was our only option, whereas there were far more suitable candidates out there both at home and abroad. Even if you take Martinez and MacLaren out of the equation, there were plenty of much, much better options than the clown we eventually employed. UEFA regs are pish, UEFA are the governing body but everyone knows that the clubs hold the power. Man City just stamped all over the bullshit regs with their ground naming deal. Everyone can see it for what it is, what can UEFA do? Lerner has done a wealth of good things with the club, BH is state of the art but where he and the club lets itself down is where it matters most, on the football side. McLeish was never, ever going to work, even through the most claret and blue tinted spectacles and his appointment was an abomination which is why the fans have turned on RL. There is no vision, no philosophy and no long term future with him in charge. Personally, I believe Lerner is the Captain so he takes some of the flak, but Paul Faulkners hand is on the tiller and I rate him personally responsible for what happened with ONeill, Houllier, McLeish and the general direction of the club as a business. If heads should roll, Faulkners should be first on the block. Nail on head !
  6. Then I must be a shit fan. Considering the distance between myself and Villa Park, the go/dont go decision is already a fine one regardless of how we're doing. If we happen to be playing the kind of football that we did on Sunday then i'd much rather spend the money on going out for an enjoyable meal instead. Following Villa isnt some kind of religiously driven path of righteousness, if the entertainment on offer doesnt justify driving 2 hours up the motorway, then it's a no brainer. can understand if you haven't got a season ticket and have to travel 2 hours to game, its more aimed at the people who have brought a season ticket and are saying they can't be arsed to go... but... i go to the villa to support us and hopefully see us win, if we play nice football on the way to winning its a bonus. I dont go to football to be entertained, i'm a villa supporter not a customer. I've coughed up for 3 season tickets for years and have followed Villa since 1970. I've spent thousands of pounds and devoted many hours watching Villa play both in the UK and Europe. I've got 2 lads that play football at a decent standard so are you saying that if one of their games clash with a Villa game and I choose to watch them play then I am either just a customer or a shit fan? What we have been subjected to in the last dozen or so games has been utter garbage. There is a counter argument that if you stand by and do nothing then nothing is likely to change. On the assumption that Lerner isn't attending the games then maybe he is taking guidance from Faulkner as to what the state of play is. Do you think Faulkner is going to Randy know just how disenfranchised the fan base is given that Faulkner was instrumental in the appointment of McLeish? Maybe some sort of vocal and visible show of discontent is necessary to at least get the point across to the very person that can change things off the pitch. So who's the best supporter then - the one that stands by and accepts the dross we are being or served or the fan that tries to instigate change?
  7. On that basis do you think McLeish would be given the funds from the sale and if so do you trust him to spend it wisely?
  8. I think being beaten in the air by Suarez epitomised his performance today.
  9. Don't rate him at all but was willing to give him the benefit of doubt. Really hoped he could commit a rash tackle on Downing today but sadly Downing didn't venture onto our right at all. Still not sure whether his reluctance to bomb forward is down to a lack of ability or because he's following instructions from our ultra cautious manager. If it's the latter then he deserves a little more time before he can be properly judged.
  10. I have 3 standing tickets (1 adult and 2 kids) that i'd like to swap for 3 seating if anyone is interested? From a nostalgia point of view it would be great to stand but realistically he isn't going to get a great view of play. On second thoughts though it may be a blessing in disguise......
  11. Sorry but have to disagree with you. Out of interest where you at the game today? Although he missed a couple of chances his overall effort couldn't be faulted. He chased and hassled the defenders and his work off the ball was good. No I wasn't at the game today. I tend not to go to away games, being that every home match is like an away game for me. I did see it online though and I'm not quite sure what you would have seen differently whilst there. Afterall, we were watching the same game. I don't think his work off the ball was good enough and hasn't been for the past few weeks. Say what you want, yet in my opinion he doesn't look interested right now. He needs to sort his head out and realise that he isn't a superstar. I don't think that you get the same perspective of the work any player does off the ball when watching it online or on tv as the cameras tend to focus on the ball. We may have been watching the same game but I'd wager I had a better view of his runs off the ball than you hence why I disagree with you about his effort.

  13. Agreed it was another very good performance from Stan today and had Bent finished from his assist it wouldn't have been such a tense last 15 minutes or so. I hope Quitter doesn't come calling for him in January as his experience will be vital - is it too much to wish that Quitter comes in for Beckenbauer Heskey instead ?
  14. Another very solid performance today, in particular one 50/50 challenge in the second half epitomised his commitment to the cause. Hopefully some will cut him some slack and judge him on his current performances on the pitch rather than what may or may not have been said and done last season.
  15. He tried to get him in August but was rebuffed. He wasn't good enough 4 years ago so hardly an improvement on what we've already got.
  16. No worries ! Horrible thought though........
  17. MM how would the board react to a massive show of no confidence towards McLeish?
  18. irony would be them beating us to relegate us That's what i said !
