We're just as bad, if not worse, than last season. I don't see how we're any better. We sometimes pass it about better, but other than that, we're equally as shite.

Lambert is supposed to be a better manager than AM, but despite spending money on the squad he inherited from AM, the results have been just as bad.

People really do seem clueless, for us to make any progress as a club we will have some low points.

Under McLeish we were playing dire negative football, with an ageing overpaid squad. Scraping results and losing games 1-0. Using defensive minded players in most positions, in order to try and frustrate the opposition. When we came up against quality, we were quickly found out, regardless of how many defenders were in the starting 11.

This season Lerner listened to the fans and appointed a new young manager, who'd recently rebuilt a club from the ground up and turned them into a well oiled unit.

The only difference between Lamberts job now, campared to the start of Norwich, is that he was doing it, under a lesser spotlight. The fact we're still in the premier league is putting much more scrutiny on his reign.

Finally you've got the expectation, for whatever reason much like the Liverpool fanbase, there is an immense sense of entitlement. "We Aston Villa fans" deserve better.

The fact is, Lamberts job is huge, he's having to rebuild a side/squad. Implement his ideas as well as try and move on players who won't work within his system.

Regardless of what they offer on the pitch. Dunne, Hutton, Warnock and Given will take up around 'conservatively' 120k a week in wages. While all are in undoubted decline performance wise.

So Lambert likes the look of certain players, and feels it would be better to jettison a few 'seasoned' pros in order to have his players learning in one of the toughest leagues in Europe.

We all need to have patience and most of all stock together, we've all to often had outsiders attacking our club, let alone having another season of discontent amongst our fans. So please back the boys, and who knows a possible trip to Wembley might just be the start of something huge.

Guzan

Lowton Vlaar Baker Warnock

Agbonlahor Makoun Westwood N'Zogbia

Ireland

Bent

That would actually be better. Which says a lot. Outcasting these forgotten players is hardly working is it?

Fantasy Football - all of a sudden Warnock, Makoun and N'Zogbia are going to make a world of difference are they? I'm not neccessarily convinced that Ireland and particularly Bent have the stomach for the fight either

Lambert had limited funds available and had to fill a lot of places - spending £18m on 8 players doesn't buy you top quality, it buys you potential at best.

I imagine he was under orders to reduce the wage bill and consequently has had to fill the team with youngsters and bargains. He has been unlucky with injuries and we lacked leadership out there.

Anyone who thought we were going to set the world on fire this season needs a reality check (suitably provided by the last couple of games) - It was always going to be a slow process

What is **** laughable is these comments about how McLeish wasn't so bad after all.

Our season will not be defined by how we do against MU, MC, Arse, Spurs and Chelsea but by how we do against those around us.

We need a win against Wigan to put us back on the right trajectory

Very good post. Can't disagree with any of that.

So McLeish record at this time Pld 19 W 5 D 8 L 6 Pts 23 Gls F 22 A 21 GD +1

Lambert record Pld 19 W 4 D 6 L 9 Pts 18 Gls F 15 A 36 GD -21

so are we or have we moved forward, the facts are there for everyone to see and we had just beaten Chelsea 3-1 at stamford bridge

But we didnt move forward under McLEish did we - the second half of the season was much worse and we narrowly avoided relegation.

Lambert has had to pick up the pieces of the shambles he inheirited and it will take some time to repair the damage

McLeish record (2nd half) Pld 19 W 2 D 9 L 8 Pts 15 Gls F 15 A 32 GD -17

Lambert record Pld 19 W 4 D 6 L 9 Pts 18 Gls F 15 A 36 GD -21

So Lambert's first 19 games are marginally better than MCL's last 19. The difference is that I believe that Lambert will improve us - he just won't be able to do it instantly like some require

We are all hurting at two terrible results but given the start point and the limited resources available I'd be surprised if any manager could turn things round as quickly as some here expect

All i can say at the moment is thank god that Reading, QPR and Wigan are in the league this season,

Oh look another bright light from VP

"

Ron Vlaar, Andreas Weimann, Nathan Baker, Gabby Agbonlahor and Charles N'Zogbia are all injury doubts ahead of Wigan" yippee,WTF is Lambert doing in

Utter Tosh.

For a start, a trip to wembley will mean **** all if we get relegated.

What we need to realise is that if you fill a squad with kids and championship players, you will very quickly get found out in arguably the toughest league in the world.

This is now happening, and the managerial decisions, at all levels, to follow this model, are being shown to be disastrous.

Lambert inheirited many of these players and I'm sure that many of them will not be around in a years or so's time

The players he has signed Guzan, Westwood, Benteke, Lowton, Vlaar have been decent but there was not enough quality already here to mix in

This will be a long job - survival is our goal this year and progression the next couple of years

Anyone who doesn't expect a few more rocky perfromances are fooling themselves

Some of them did and some off them are a reflection of the training and coaching methods used

Really - did he have this reputation for terrible training and coaching methods at Norwich

Some arguements have merit but this is not one of them
