AVFC 20 Year Premiership Awards!

Well, seeing as everyone else appears to be celebrating 20 years of the Premier League, what about us? The famous, famous AVFC.

Who in your considered opinion deserves nomination & inclusion in the highly coveted assembly of our best possible 11 players ever to grace our team during this 20 year period?

You can choose whichever formation you like (please state it when posting), but because of the problem & extreme difficulty I had in choosing & accommodating central defenders I personally am plumping for 3 5 2 ( I do not see any possible way of missing out the 3 players that I have selected here for my best Villa team & unlike MON I won't be resorting to playing players out of position either, so moving " King Ollie" to right back is a definite, definite non starter!

Sadly, I also reached the conclusion that none of our current playing staff came anywhere even close here in any of my thinking for their inclusion (a very, very sad indictment indeed) although I truly hope the promise & potential of our young players such as Gardner, Clark, Carruthers, Weimann et al is truly fulfilled & provides food for thought when nominations for 30 years plus of Premiership football are similarly being considered here or wherever so fit.

What about our greatest player & performer in this time too? For me that really is/was a very very simple choice & I would be pretty amazed if their are too many dissenters (if any) to my nominated choice here!

Next up too we have a range of managers who have served us over this particular period, arguably good, bad or indifferent dependent upon YOUR OWN point of view. Again, my choice here is simple & is purely based on 2 main factors, achievement & entertainment value. I would also like to state that MON came a very close 2nd here but as he didn't actually win anything I ruled him out.

Finally, our greatest ever Premiership goal in 20 years? This really really was exceptionally difficult to decide. So, I've narrowed it down to top 3 & state them in nominated order.

Finally, perhaps the mods would like to organise various polls on any or all of the following so that an independent result can be reached to everybodies democratic satisfaction:

Best Team:

So, playing 3 5 2 , I have gone for the following line up:

David James

Olof Mellberg (Paul McGrath (God) ) Martin Laursen

Best Player: Paul McGrath

Best Goals: 1. Dalian Atkinson Wimbledon away December 1992

We all have our opinions, so, as per usual, it's over to you.
