Designer1 Posted February 8, 2006 VT Supporter Share Posted February 8, 2006 It hasnt in any way put me off playing MMORPG's. in fact, I look forward to the first real contender to the WoW throne (rumoured to be Vanguard but we'll have to see). One thing I will definately do next time is make sure I read up about the different classes and whats expected for them at end-game level. And you never know, we might all be playing a different game together again. If you lot ever leave Azeroth that is :winkold:
ED
Bradd was my Test of Skulls groupie, we did all the qs together, Voodooface will always help out if he can, same with Shadym. Theres some good players out there, and I can tell I'm on their friends list cuz they whisper me when I come online! Theres also a lot of cocks out there, my ignore list is building... The_Rev
Mind you having said all that, I'm playing through Fable on the PC at the moment (great game) and at the start I had the choice to specialise in casting/magic skills or being a bit more of a melee machine. Guess which one i went for? I'll give you a clue, I now have plate armour. Have you not played fable before Si? Its the game that made me decide i want to play WoW. Some parts of it are excellent. My only gripe with it is that you get too powerful by endgame. At level 60 (or whatever it is in Fable) you can basically be a mage in plate armour with jedi powers, a warlocks pet, rogues melee skills and windfury! Its good how you can carry on playing after you complete the game you can carry on after and just have a rain of terror over the world. You become Nerfarion/Thrall/A Shaman. The biggest choice in the game isnt good or evil though. Its pink or brown. The Fable Thread. Not quite WoW thread size, but... In fact reading through that made me remember just how brilliant Fable was. It was just the little things that really made that game. Things that WoW could adopt. Like how all the NPC's in the game seemed to have strong Bristol/Yam Yam/Scouse accents. Or how you could go gambling (why cant you go gambling in WoW??!) Or how you could go and get a pit of pussy/bum love (ok, Warlocks have Succubus following them about, but they cant have a go on her like you could in fable!) Maxed out, with that sword (which is basically a god mode once/if you get it) And of course, you have to say no. Then WTFPWN the guards. Then blow the entire town up with Fireballs! Property Vandalism FTW! More magic that a mage, more armour than a warrior, more windfury that a Shamie. Endgame really is endgame here. You can get to the point in Fable where in WoW terms you could actually go and solo Moltern Core, stopping off to kill everybody in Ironforge on the way. But in terms of fun, and comedy moments, Fable is just fantastic. A real 10/10 game.
Designer1 Posted February 8, 2006 VT Supporter Share Posted February 8, 2006 Have you not played fable before Si? no i missed it on the X-Box Nays, as I'd already sold mine by then. So I decided to try the PC version (which runs beautifully on my new pc) and so far have been very impressed with it. Tell you whats weird though. After playing WoW for months and months I was convinced I was gonna get a whisper from someone while I was running around some of the areas. Even though its a one player game. Risso
Have you heard when the new Zelda game is due out Nays? As soon as it does WoW is going into hibernation for a bit!
Designer1 Posted February 8, 2006 VT Supporter Share Posted February 8, 2006 I'm still going through Windwalker on the Gamecube Riss. **** ace game, only let down by the 'lets go back to the start of the lvl if we die' bullshit. Oh and second quarter of 2006 for the new one.
Risso
Windwaker is the most beautifully crafted game ever. I love it.
Designer1 Posted February 8, 2006 VT Supporter Share Posted February 8, 2006 Windwaker is the most beautifully crafted game ever. I love it. I'm really, really far into it but the problem i mentioned above really puts me off going back on it at the moment. I'm stuck on one of the three islands where you have to move the boulders by various means to get inside and i really hate it when games punish you by making you do things over again when you die. BTW Riss, the graphic style is being completely overhauled for the new version and a more 'realistic' approach is being taken. i think thats a crying shame, I absolutely love the style of Windwalker, its stunning. Risso
Yeah I heard that Si. I remember the outcry when the first screen shots of the cel shaing of Winwaker came out. I must admit I was taken aback after playing the last Zelda game on the N64. But once I had it I loved it, it was like immersing yourself in your own film. Have to say though, I'm almost scared to play anything else after Warcrack, in case they don't measure up.

Playing games with a pause button again takes some adjusting to. My bladder loves it though. :winkold:

The_Rev
It seems kind of random that some people can logon and download the patch with no problems at all (ive still not had a single problem since i got the game) yet others get completely **** by the downloader. Anyway, the changes? Stuff that was listed here is all in, plus some other stuff that ive noticed. You cant loot chests while in combat any more. I dont know how many of you did this anyway, but i did. The world famous winterspring chest, and my super secret azshara one. Just fear or offtank with Voidwalker whats guarding the chest, then run in grab the loot, and run off. Cant do that any more. Tier one (as in moltern core) epics have been buffed too. Well, at least Mage (arcanist) and Warlock (felheart) have. More spell damage, and less shitty nasty useless spirit! Huzzah! Ive also read that the new 20 man AQ raid isnt that hard. Its only about the same as UBRS (ie not very hard at all!) and the drops in there arent gear, but new ranks of spells/attacks. All ive read that for Warlock we get an extra rank of Shadow Bolt, and an extra rank of Corruption (one of our dots) but im guessing other classes will get the same. Seems quite a cool idea actually. A bit like the drops for Priest/Mage/Druid so they can learn the group buffs.

ED
Even better, I'm in there as a level 44, and look who's near the bottom of the list! (below sion) Anyone care to explain how this all works? Why aren't certain members in there? and Sion wasn't 57 when I was 44. Also who put the profiles up?
