LancsVillan Posted July 29, 2005 Moderator Share Posted July 29, 2005 as expected God was so far clear of the other it's only fair to re-do this one.... and this isn't a BEST of Villa or there are far more to include; more a best of recent times
pablopicasso
king olof... with someone like mcgrath besides him, would be immense...
PB
Southgate was a much better player than over-rated Olly IMHO
theboyangel
Have to disagree with you there PB - I liked Southgate too but think Olly is a far stronger, faster and better defender than the dullest CB we've ever employed.... Also GS gets points docked for his money orientated 'ambition' (and for missing that spot kick :winkold: )

Trinity-Tom
Has to be Southgate, he was one of the best defenders in the premiership in his hey day let alone for Villa
ChrisVillan
Shaun Teale. Coz he was a badass.
LJRM050389
Mellberg, as we need atleast 1 CB to have some pace.
DreadPirateRoberts
Although I agree with this: Shaun Teale. Coz he was a badass. I still think prefer Southgate - he was class and even though he's the dullest CB we've ever employed I reckon CBs should be dull, dependable and not prone to falling on his arse every few matches (unlike Olly...) McGrath was bloody quick for a man with no knees who played in trainers most of the time thing was he never looked like he was moving quickly and also becuase of his positional strength never needed to either. Anyway we're looking for his 'partner' here

Straggler
I also wanted to vote for Evans, but in his absence picked Ugo and immidiately regretted it when I remembered Teals goal against Bolton in the League cup way back when
ahamaad
Can't believe people voting for Olly, asa IMO Southgate was head and shoulders above him.
