Popular Post magnkarl
Anyone seen this article about villa fans in the Daily Mail today? My apologies if it has already been posted. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4444764/Aston-Villa-fans-chant-swear-unsuspecting-couple.html Quote 'He's going to cry in a minute': Aston Villa fans are caught on video taunting and swearing at a couple in train carriage Mobile phone footage has emerged showing a group of rowdy Aston Villa fans harassing a couple on a packed train, as they chant and swear at them. The fans were travelling home from Villa Park on Saturday after their side's 1-0 win over Birmingham City on Sunday when they kept the party going on the train. But the mood turned sour when they tried to involve other passengers who were not so keen in singing along. Fans were chanting 'he's got a toothbrush on his head', while putting a toothbrush on people's heads. Although it started with fellow fans, they then turn their attention to a young man sitting next to a woman in the carriage. They put the brush and his head and carry on singing, before all pointing their fingers at him and shouting 'w*****' in front of his mortified partner. The man holds his own and stand his ground as he calmly faces down the bullying fans and doesn't retaliate. His horrified partner avoids eye contact and keeps silent as the yobs film their reaction and laugh at their embarrassment. The man smiles nervously and shakes his head as the fans chant 'he's gonna cry in a minute' and 'we all hate Blue scum' - a reference to Birmingham City. Another fan is seen putting the toothbrush on the woman's head before it is passed along the carriage. Although clearly uncomfortable, the couple remained in their seats. Facebook users were divided in their response to the video, with some calling it 'banter' and others accusing the fans of bullying. Mattie J Kellett wrote: 'Listen to you all crying over a bit of banter.' Leigh Curtin replied: 'How's this banter? Geezer's with his bird, doesn't wanna be involved. That went from banter to bullying in about 20 seconds! Then screaming 'w*****' in front of a couple of kids!' Harry Newbrook said: 'Miserable people in the world! You only live once, have a laugh!' David Hall wrote: 'I wonder if they would have ganged up on that lad and his partner if that lad had some more mates with him. I doubt it.' AVFC Anne said: 'I have no idea why anyone over the age of four would find this funny. Embarrassing and juvenile in the extreme.' TrevChrissie Malgrat added: 'As a Villa fan, I wholeheartedly apologise.' Whoever is in this footage really needs to sort out their definition of "banter". Harassing someone who doesn't answer back isn't banter, it's stupid yobs having nothing better to do than to berate someone who's trying to get somewhere with his girlfriend. If any of these guys are on this forum I want you to take a long hard look at yourself and consider the that the rest of us are ashamed of you. You are bringing the reputation of our club and fans down and you are lucky that this guy didn't have any friends around - because by looking at your childish antics you wouldn't hold up in a fight. Disgusted mates. Disgusted. I bet you thought you were so hard for confronting two young people who didn't have anything to do with football like this. Grow a pair and try to do this with someone who actually wants this sort of confrontation, and take your vile behavior outside of the public space.

Everyone's allowed their own opinion, however knowing the people in this video (the couple) I can assure you that they found this nothing short of really uncomfortable. When people behave like the yobs in this video they deserve to be called out. If I knew them in person I'd gladly have this conversation with them in real life, we'd see how long they'd point that toothbrush around.

Dodgyknees
It's childish. But I have seen MUCH worse from football fans. If they reported everything that happens, it would be a paper full of shit every day....oh...

Hang on that's your opinion, which is fine you're entitled to that but the post you could tell was posted in a serious manner. Rather than take the piss if you weren't interested wouldn't it be more appropriate to just say nothing and move to the next thread. Not trying to get on my high horse just putting it in a different light. Edit I have just watched it and I'm appalled why not causing any injury it was Neanderthal pack mentality from a mob of gutless yobbos. It could've got out of hand if the young fella got toey which he didn't. If you think that is a faux outrage over nothing then I hope I'm never on a train with you. God would agree with me too. Popular Post BOF Posted April 26, 2017 Moderator Popular Post Share Posted April 26, 2017 How many seconds would it take a mob like that to turn nasty on someone if they dared to not just let them ride roughshod over them while throwing their 'banter' around? It's yobbish feral behaviour and it's very intimidating for someone trying to mind their own business. And it's dangerous because it's only just 'this' side of controlled. Passing it off as 'banter' is naïve and lacks any empathy for the unwilling victim. It's only 'banter' for as long as the mob want it to be. Then people wonder why similar 'harmless fun' or 'lads being lads' is looked down upon or, worse, retaliated against when they do it abroad. That's not normal behaviour despite what some will have you believe. Maybe it is to them. It's not what normal football fans do. If you think it is, then you're likely to continue being surprised and amazed by the harsh treatment some football fans get whilst 'on tour'.

I don't get why this has turned into a "the Daily Mail is shit" thread. We know it is. It doesn't need pointing out. Irrespective of outlet, that's some Villa fans being absolute tossers. The issue isn't the Daily Mail being a rag.
