Zatman
Con Martin was somebody I heard from the song The Mero and found out he was a Villa player. Further research showed he seemed to do play every position and even played goalkeeper in Gaelic Football and for Villa
Paddywhack
Where did the nicknames originate, the fans? I'd love for it to make a come back. Rudy 'the big fella who used to have longer hair' Gestede and Tommy 'Touchy Post' Elphick. John
Harry Parkes went to school with my father and had sports shops at Six Ways Erdington and in Corporation Street (where he had Villa photographs everywhere). Harry always had time to spare for young footballers especially if they were Villa fans (including me who spent ages looking at those photographs from the past)! A nice gift for the carer indeed and some great names included. Edited September 22, 2016 by John
Xann
After hanging up his boots, Davy Walsh opened a sports shop on Droitwich High Street. Just found that out. Had no idea the old boy was a Villa & Baggies centre forward.
