Popular Post BOF Posted September 16, 2016 Moderator Popular Post Share Posted September 16, 2016 This just turned up over on the facebook Irish Supporters Club page. An elderly man owned it and it was then given to his carer, who gave it to her own grandson. Very cool piece I think you'll agree I've done some digging and come up with the players who played that season and I can spot most of them on there. Joe Rutherford (GK), Harry Parkes, Con Martin, Danny Blanchflower, Frank Junior Moss,Dicky 'Ironman' Dorsett, Herbert 'Little Sport' Smith, Johnny Dixon, Dave Walsh, Tommy 'Toucher' Thompson, Les 'Schmidtz' Smith,Peter Basil Aldis, Derek 'Doc' Pace, Billy 'Cowboy' Goffin, Amos Moss, Larry Canning, Graham Cordell (GK), Colin Hayward Gibson, Stan 'The Wham' Lynn, Keith Jones (GK), Ken 'Shunter' Roberts.Albert Vinall (didn't play)

Villarocker
The poor Moss family! Had a slight misunderstanding at the births registry office: Registrar: "Baby's name? Proud, smiling parents "He's a Moss" Birth certificate drops through the letterbox reading: Name - Amos Moss
Davkaus
I'm a little surprised at how few of that side featured in the cup winning team 5 years later, only 3 that I can see. I'd expect a completely different team after a 5 year gap in modern football, I always imagined that squads were a bit more static back when there wasn't much money in the game. In terms of '57 squad I make it 6. Aldis, Dixon, Jones, Pace & Les Smith. EDIT : To add Stan Lynn
Davkaus
Ah, I didn't recall Jones & Smith. You're better than me at remembering names, but perhaps not so good at counting.

Mjvilla
Brings up an interesting topic of what villa memorabilia people have. I am lucky enough to be owner of a programme from the day we won the league at arsenal signed by all the players... theres more from my dad but I'd have to ask him exactly what he has....
