So assuming the Tv has an optical or coax digital audio out, Would installing a D/A convertor which you can then feed it's output to a BT transmitter work?

What do you mean by "BT transmitter"? Bluetooth nodes are all both receivers and transmitters. Do you mean something like this:

PS. Why are you cut and pasting from somewhere else?

New firmware update released today, Now on Q003.001.45.00L

Fixes for this release Q003.001.45.00L (4lvm0pw) include;

- Addresses an issue affecting 1TB Sky Q boxes where no sound could be heard when connected to certain models of Samsung TV.
- Addresses an issue where the box may crash under certain situations when watching Online Videos.
- Resolves an issue when pairing a Sky Q Touch remote with a Q box where an on screen message would be displayed advising that pairing had been unsuccessful despite the pairing having completed successfully.
- Resolves an issue where a green screen is displayed when the Q box starts up.
- Resolves an issue where a Q box would switch in to standby randomly.
- Addresses certain situations which would cause a Sky Q Mini box to reboot.
- The Sky logo displayed in the bottom left of the Sky Q Guide had been updated to the new corporate style.

Powerline has been turned to On for the Sky 2tb boxes, but still set to off for the Mini.

Apologies only just seen this,

Apparently If it complies with the full Bluetooth specification then it should be able to but no one seems to know how Sky have set it up if the AVDTP specification has been fully implemented (not quite as simple as that as it is dependent on other layers) then it should work.

However Sky may have cut down the protocols so that it only transmits data.

Also to be used it needs to be set as discoverable.

Shall I go to the other forum and discuss it? I'd rather you asked a question in your own words and I (and others) can try and answer. I don't want to converse with cut and paste from somewhere else.

Either the Sky Q hardware supports A2DP or it doesn't. Either the Sky Q software supports A2DP or it doesn't. You could just plug the dongle I linked into your TV or amp and use that.

I've quoted a more suitable explanation to my own query and shared it via the provided link.

Apologies if this is against the rules I wasn't aware.

No-one mentioned site rules. I am a poster. I use red ink when I'm a mod.

I just have no idea what you are asking and need you to put it in your own words.

Sky to bring satellite-free Q service from next year:

Link

Quote

For almost thirty years, Sky has operated first and foremost as a satellite television provider. Sure, the company has expanded its empire to include phone, broadband and, more recently, mobile services, but many of its customers have at some point had to wait home while an engineer fixes a receiver dish to the side of their house. Soon, that won't be the case, at least for Sky Q subscribers, after the provider confirmed it's ditching satellites for some customers in favour of an internet-connected service.

Sky is remaining tight-lipped over its plans, but 2018 will be when the quad-play provider finally begins providing customers with real choice between online and over-the-air broadcasts (that isn't Now TV). The company says it'll benefit "millions of homes currently unable to install a satellite dish," but will obviously rely on homeowners having a solid broadband connection (which Sky is also keen to provide).

To coincide with today's announcement, and a future switchover, Sky also announced the launch of My Sky, a new loyalty app that will reward customers with "exclusive experiences and benefits" based on how many services they subscribe to and long they've been with the company.

In a financial report released today, the provider said it saw an 18 percent drop in profits over the last six months or 2016 due to Premier League TV costs and a rising number of customers leaving. With BT, Virgin Media and TalkTalk all poised to strike, Sky's new reward programme could help balance subscriber numbers.

Currently, there are over one million Sky Q boxes in approximately 600,000 homes. With over 20 million subscribers, Sky will be keen to migrate existing TV customers away from their Sky HD boxes and onto a service that is ultimately built for streaming. The company has said that the online-only box will be slightly different to its existing Q hardware, but hasn't shared whether the experience will be pared down in order to deliver everything over fibre.

I bet this service will cost more than £150 a month all in

I wouldn't have thought so, it won't be better than Satellite TV, the quality will be dependent on your own internet.

Voice search now added with this weeks update.

UK pay-TV service Sky is adding voice search and new personalisation features to its Sky Q platform, which it says will make it quicker and easier for people to access to the movies, shows and sports they love to watch.

With voice search, viewers can find TV by pressing and holding the voice button on the side of the Sky Q touch remote, and simply saying what they’re looking for. Customers at home can ask Sky Q to take them to ‘Zootropolis’, ‘Billions’ or the ‘Liverpool game’ and access a great line-up of TV.

Movie buffs wanting to be a little more adventurous can even search using some of the most iconic quotes, including “Say hello to my little friend” and “I’ll have what she’s having.” To discover something new, users can search a genre with a specific time, age or star rating, such as ‘comedy movies,’ ‘live cricket on this weekend’ and ‘Tom Hanks’ movies rated five stars’. Or find a movie and filter by award-winning actors and directors, including ‘films with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone’ or ‘movies directed by Michael Bay.’

Alongside voice search, a collection of features will also roll out to Sky Q including:

  • My Q: The My Q section becomes the new Sky Q homepage. With customers wanting even more personalisation and advice on the best new shows, it will feature recommendations based on household viewing and top new series from all channels across Sky Q. And the Continue Watching section will allow customers to pick up where they left off from an episode in a series such as Game of Thrones and Fortitude. Plus navigation is simpler, with Recordings and TV Guide only a swipe away from the new My Q homepage
  • Facebook videos: Now watch Facebook videos with the current My Photos application, and bring friends and family together to share Facebook memories on the big screen at home. Customers can use the My Photos App on Sky Q to sign into their Facebook profile and see their latest photos and videos

“’May the force be with you’ with your new voice search,” commented Luke Bradley-Jones, Sky’s brand director of TV and content products. “Just ask Sky Q to ‘show me the money’ by pressing the side of the touch remote, making it even easier and faster to find, discover and watch the TV you love.”

Voice search joins a number of existing features on Sky Q changing the way people watch TV, from ‘find my remote’, to the ability to pause and carry on from TV to tablet around the house. And with the Sky Q app, customers have the flexibility to take their recordings with them to watch even when they’re out of the home.

Sky plans further enhancements for Sky Q later in 2017, including voice control and sports restart. In 2018, Sky will launch Sky TV without the need for a satellite dish, bringing Sky to millions more homes.

Entertainment technology and audience insights specialist TiVo has joined forces to deliver the voice search enhancement. TiVo is providing Sky Q with a natural language, voice-based search solution, making it quicker and easier for Sky Q customers to find the content they are looking for.

The solution lets consumers use their voice to search for digital entertainment across linear TV and video on demand (VoD). By implementing Conversation Services on Sky Q, Sky is making it easier for customers to discover entertainment, sport and movies by providing a conversational experience through language recognition and naturally spoken responses.

“With Sky Q, we continue to innovate and bring fantastic new features to our customers, who we know are watching more TV than ever before. We want to make it even faster and easier for them to search, discover and watch TV.” said Bradley-Jones. “That’s why we’ve introduced voice search. With the technology delivered by TiVo, we are enabling our customers to use natural, voice-based queries to find new and favourite TV to enjoy.”

The solution is built on TiVo’s knowledge graph engine, a dynamic knowledge base of entertainment metadata, capable of understanding trends and conversations. Updated continuously via data ingestion and news crawlers, the knowledge graph includes information produced and curated by hundreds of content editors, predictive search results, and behavioural indicators from social networks.

“With more and more content choices and a great range of entertainment available across TV, TiVo is helping partners like Sky provide the best user experience whilst driving content consumption,” said Matt Berry, senior vice president and general manager, advanced search and recommendations, TiVo. “We are pleased to extend our long-standing relationship with Sky. This implementation further reinforces the value of TiVo’s product portfolio in bringing the latest capabilities to pay-TV homes across Europe.”

I received a code offering Sky Q for £35 for 18 months, and have taken them up on it.  I'm moving house and can't get Virgin Media in the new one.

My folks want to get signed up too, so I'm hoping someone on here might have received the same letter and isn't planning to use the code.  Any help gratefully received!

That's a cracking deal, I'm not aware of any at that rate but will ask the question. I got my code around 10 months ago but £56pm same as you for 18 months, UHD 2TB Box with Sports & Movies pack and One mini for the bedroom. Did you get the same?..

Same but without the extra box, although that's only £12 so it's £47 all in.

Will be taking BT for my broadband as Sky have no offers on right now.

Sound, Make sure you get the 2TB box mate as the 1TB box dose not support UHD or works with a mini should you wish to introduce one further down the line.

Have a look here https://www.cable.co.uk/compare/cable-tv/ for the best BB deals around, some come with £150 cash back.

I'm taking multiroom so the package comes with a mini, but it is a 1TB box.

Just called Sky, and upgraded to the 2TB box.  It was originally going to be a £15 one off fee, but they've given me the better box for a £60 one off fee.  Monthly remains at £35, plus £12 for the mini box.

Good stuff, Initially only the 2TB boxes supported multi room but I guess they may of enabled it in a recent firmware update + you can now treat yourself to a UHD tellybox:D

Need to get the Doris to sign off on that one - we need to buy some new furniture for the pad first!
