Aston Villa Football Club is over 135 years old Aston has a long and proud history in this region. The vast parish once covered the vast majority of (what we now regard as) Birmingham and Solihull. We shouldn't pander to the lowest common denominator just because they are ignorant of the history of the region they live in. I'm biased but we have the best name in football. There is no need to change it to fulfil some failed marketing man's wet dream. Embarrassing suggestion indeed, which is why he was laughed at by both us and Blues. I think we should rename the club to 'Aston Birmingham FC' as proposed by a member of Birmingham City Council several years ago. After all, it must be us that has to rename ourselves, surely, as another club nearby have the naming rights to the city and foreigners might get confused as to who we are. The Baring, on Baring Street, Islington is owned by a Villa fan and will be regularly attended when we're on telly by a handful of Villa fans. Nearest tube stations are Angel or Old Street. 10-15 min walk from the station.
