  1. Nice of Spurs to let us know what their master plan is. I hope they've got a last minute backup for when our management tell them no deal.
  2. Sounds more like Test Match Special but without the cakes and pigeons.
  3. He could be the next Kinsella. Sorry, I'll get me coat.
  4. Don't know much about this bloke but he seems to have a very high opinion of himself. He's not one of those tarts who flounce off in a strop if someone dares to substitute him is he? Would he be happy to fight for a place? Would he be good enough to be an automatic start? Are we really interested or is it just wild speculation?
  5. Where's this come from? So Man. City have sold Tevez. Some journalist has thrown Benteke's name into a list of possible targets with no concrete signs of interest from the aforementioned plutocrats and suddenly we're getting wound up about how much they will give us when they inevitably lure him away. When I hear they've made a definite bid I'll start to worry.
  6. Sounds like Spurs doing a Blues trick when they tried to look like they were players by going after big names. Keep the fans happy if they're worried about losing Bale by floating the prospect of a shrewd stuffing of the naive midlanders. You know the trick. Offer us one of their cast offs and a supposedly huge sum of money and we'll bite their hand off. Typical Cockney barrow boys. I can't see Lerner and certainly Lambert falling for that one.
  7. If Bennett is reading any of this it must be doing his confidence a power of good.
  8. Sorry typo , for "better", read "decent," . Same principle applies.
  9. As Oaks says "Imagine him in a better team". I am imagining him in a better team, ours. It's got to be better than last season.
  10. Have a look at Jakub Kosecki of Legia Warsaw on YouTube. 22 years old. Attacking midfielder. 9 goals in 23 games. Somebody will be in for this lad.
  11. If Okore comes straight into the side might Baker be shifted to left back ?
  12. A couple of headed goals in that compilation but judging by his own reaction to the first he doesn't get that many. I suppose this is the area of his game Lambert and the coaches will be looking to add to. But those fast feet and that touch mark him out as a bit of a talent. And he takes a blistering free kick. A couple of months to settle in and by November we might begin to see his real value.
  13. I think Lerner has learned from his mistakes because he has altered course. Buying high wage bench warmers and underachievers has failed and put us in a dire financial situation so, instead of ploughing on in the same doom ridden fashion he and his team have gone down the route we are now following. Because I'm only a supporter and not a financial genius or expert on the workings of football clubs I'm afraid I take a fairly simplistic view. I hope for a huge improvement in our onfield performance next season. I'm not happy with what we've endured in the last few seasons but I'm not qualified to say which of the myriad potential buyers could do a better job than Lerner. If he can't bring about the upturn in our fortunes we want then he should sell to the next messiah. At the moment he's the bloke calling the shots. I hope he calls the right ones.
  14. There's no question that Lerner has made mistakes but it looks like he may have learned from them. As an enthusiastic amateur he bought this club and set out with what proved to be over ambitious plans and fell flat on his face, to the cost of us all. But he must have been relying on the advice of people who supposedly knew something about how to run a Premier League club. In this he seems to have been badly served. I'm not happy about the way things have gone in the last couple of years but some sort of achievable aim seems to have been arrived at. If some multi-billionaire comes in and wants to finance us to the next level, allowing for F.F.P. then great. I'm a bit wary of the chancers and spivs that seem to be attaching themselves to football. They seem to see clubs as a way of making a few bob or massaging their egos. For every Abramovich there's potentially a Cheung or Venky. Just my thoughts and there are probably a large number of posters who disagree.
  15. Welcome to our Danish friends. Are there any other young quality players from Denmark we should be looking at?
  16. The defence had extra pressure put on them in the first two thirds of the season because the midfield wasn't gelling. There was little or no effective screen in front of them. As the midfield improved the defence were better able to cope although, admittedly, there were still some balls ups. Additions to the midfield during this window will, hopefully, help stabilise things a bit.
  17. Jed steers them away but Jesus saves. Sorry! I'll get me coat.
  18. My problem with the January window was not that we spent very little to ensure our survival, but that we spent on the wrong type of player. Sylla proved to be a good investment but I didn't see the point of Dawkins on loan when it was the defence that needed attention. We got away with it and our improvement towards the end was great but it was a hell of a gamble. Although, thankfully, not the sort of gamble Flash Harry down at Q.P.R. took with blowing the nest egg on the likes of Samba. Spend wisely and grow the value of our assets seems a good policy to follow.
  19. I don't think Defoe would fit into our wage structure and his sell on value would drop year on year. We've been down this road before and we're struggling to offload players who are happy to sit out their contracts on high wages. I can't see Defoe wanting to take the kind of wage cut we'd probably be offering. Don't see that this has any legs and if Spurs suggested it I'd expect us to, politely, tell them to get stuffed.
  20. In the video clips I saw he seemed to lay on a few goals for Giroud. Are Arsenal interested?
  21. Read similar stuff about Benteke last year with people saying we could do better for the money by signing other, more proven players. If Lambert likes this bloke then he must have something.
  22. I haven't seen much of Bowery except when he played wide right. Is he a winger or do we need to see if he can play through the middle? Opinions welcome.
