  1. This season i'd give him a 3/10 rating. And most of that is for pure effort rather than any quality VERY disappointing
  2. He was bang average last time round, unless he's improved dramatically i can't see any logic behind this one. Just another body in for the sake of numbers Not the way forward IMHO
  3. I always thought Neville looked fine at Man Utd.
  4. Anderson ? Good grief. If you can look shit surrounded by world class players what would he look like surrounded by our lot ?
  5. they'd hardly risk them if they aren't fit enough
  6. why sign them then ? surely Lambert knew what league they'd be playing in ?, or maybe thats why he's dragging us down so they wont look so shit in the Championship that would be a managerial masterstroke
  7. Not to mention we've been told since Randy came that 'TRANSFER FEES AREN'T A PROBLEM, IT'S ALL ABOUT THE WAGES' Time to see if that's utter bollocks as expected.
  8. I'm scratching my head trying to think of a cheap 'experienced' number 10 style player to sit between midfield and attack and i'm coming up with some worryingly piss poor names. Benayoun is about the best i've come up with and that's a shocker
  9. Q. Is there another club in the Premier League right now that has a lower wage bill to turnover ratio than ours ? (well apart from the mega rich ones with unbelievable income revenues of course) I think our last published turnover income was 75/80m, this will now be boosted by a further 20m ish from the new Sky deal (i believe) and some hopeful improvements that the club will have made on the commercial side to earn their salaries. So lets say it'll be near 100m next time around. As we all know, our current 25 man squad wage bill must be tiny these days, especially given that our ITK man claims a lot of Lambert's signings are earning between 5-15k a week. Lets estimate the current squad wages, i've also included our players that are out on loan Guzan 30k Steer 5k Given 25k (not sure what percentage of his wage we're paying so i'm guessing 25k is half) Donacien 1k Hutton 30k Baker 10k Clark 15k Bennett 15k Vlaar 25k Okore 20k Luna 15k Lowton 15k Stevens 5k N'Zogbia 40k Bacuna 15k El Ahmadi 15k Albrighton 15k Westwood 15k Delph 30k Herd 5k Sylla 10k Gardner 5k Tonev 10k Carruthers 2k Johnson 2k Ireland 30k (not sure what percentage of his wage we're paying so i'm guessing 30k is half) Benteke 30k Agbonlahor 50k Weimann 25k Kozak 20k Bowery 2k Delfouneso 5k (not idea what Blackpool are contributing) Burke 1k Helenius 10K Bent 30k (not sure what percentage of his wage we're paying so i'm guessing 30k is half) So that's around 578,000 per week, or around 30 million a year. obviously that's all based on guess work but even so it can't be that far off. In summation, i think we can finally put this 'we need to get our wage bill in order' bollocks as an excuse for not spending to bed once and for all. UTV
  10. Having read HH's original post (and thanks to him for taking the bother by the way) i'm probably even more depressed now than I was before. So, if i've got this right, the 5 year plan is as follows... two years of buying bog average players, then only coaching them to play bog average football before dumping them for better ones (that doesn't sound like a long term plan to me) BUT only if the owner will stump up better wages in years 3-5 to achieve a hopeful mid table standing at the end of the 'project'. This, all whilst we're apparently up for sale too. Sounds a thrilling ride. I can barely wait to renew my season ticket in the summer.
  11. He's no 7m player that's for sure. He's an honest working player, but basically a plank. Put it in the six yard box and he'll score a few, other wise he's got nothing to offer I seem to recall we already had one of those on our books
  12. The only positive was Swansea couldn't stick another few in the net **** crap. Get the useless word removed and his staff out now
  13. They must be daft to leave Williams out of that midfield, unless he's still carrying a knock. That said i'm not sure you can play him and Bannan in the same starting 11 I'm predicting a 1-1 or 2-2 draw. It'll be dire, the crowd will turn and it'll go apeshit against Swansea on Saturday
  14. at the very least, the football is on par
  15. Benteke has contributed very little to our league standing so far. As i just said ... Should we be expecting a just turned 23 year old to carry the whole team again like last season ? Or should we have lessened his work load by bringing in some better quality to help him ?
  16. He'll run around all day. But if that's all people require of a footballer then it's no wonder we're shit
  17. I don't consider him a very good player at all. I'd say he's a good player that occasionally has very good games. Massive difference Amen.
  18. I was referring to the current youngsters not our first teamers.
  19. It just tells you how desperate we are when we have to rely on the form of one player that's just turned 23 to keep us going I don't know if he's really injured or the insane pressure he's been put under to be Mr Aston Villa has finally seen him off If others chipped in half as much as he was then we wouldn't be in this mess in the first place. We're supposed to be a team not a one man operation after all
  20. Pilkington ? Good grief. Another journeyman type pro who's limited at best
  21. Some are ok, some aren't. I think winning the Next Gen trophy whilst playing some pretty bland football fooled a lot of people into believing they were some sort of golden generation when they certainly weren't. Sadly
