  1. I must admit coming home from West Ham and Everton I was tremendously pessimistic about our future but yesterday's performance more than the result just shows that patience has to be our virtue this season. As supporters we really must try and look at the bigger picture and not get so isolated by one performance to the next. I believe that PL really is a top manager and although I would have liked to seen a little more experience from our transfer activity I am more than happy to back his judgement. I don't expect all the new signing to come in straight away and can only see possibly Bennett starting the next game. It would after all be extremely harsh on those that performed so well yesterday to be left out. I certainly don't see Westwood starting just yet and even Benteke I only see being on the bench especially after Gabby's impressive subs appearance. Its still going to be a tough season and I'm sure we will see some really inconsistances in our performances, you only have to compare Everton to Newcastle to see that. I'm going for a lower midtable finish which I think will be more than acceptable given the position and limitations PL has to work to and a season that will see some reallly pleasing results and performance and possibly some horror shows.
  2. We're being used. Agent has definately leaked that to get Liverpools arse into gear
  3. I think at the time it was because we felt we were better. I think we still felt that we had an owner willing to invest a good amount and that we could attract better. I see what you're saying and in hindsight we really have missed out on some deals. And actually I'm pretty confident that in a few years time there will be fans from other teams saying "why didn't we snap up Bennett or Benteke?" My concern is for the right now though. I want to see those hungry kids with potential snapped up but I also was hoping it would be balanced out by bringing in more players like KEA and Vlaar so that we're not just relying on potential to see us safe.[/quote] Big_John I pretty much share your concerns and come the end of the window if we have not added an extra couple of players that are 'ready now' then I believe that it maybe a really tough few months. But my advice to you is to keep your powder dry - you are raising issues that may already be being addressed by the manager. Until Friday night we will not know what we will be fighting with so til then relax and try to remain positive. Come Saturday though I have a feeling we may all be extremely unwhelmed with our activity in the transfer market and the relegation thread may become the most used. I sincerely hope not

    Relegation

In fairness mantis under GH we had just finished 6th and even though we were terrible early on there was always too much quality within the squad for us to be relegated. Even under AM we still appeared to have enough about us although his tactics almost proved disasterous. But this season just feels wrong. the squad has changed beyond recognition and the quality within it is non existent. Relegation i believe is almost a certainty unless the current trend is reversed in the next 5 days

    Relegation

The next five days are crucial it will tell us the real path our club is taking. we've lost so many good andexperienced premiership players its unbelieveable. The quality left in this squad is the weakest i have see since we were in the 2nd division. I make this prediction with a very heavy heart - if there is no investment in the squad before the window closes we will be BOTTOM yes BOTTOM of the league when the next window opens

  7. Surely you don't pay any attention to anyone that is that narrow minded. I'm sure you are mature enough to ignore the idiots and select the posters were you can have sensible debate even if your opinions differ.
  8. I have plenty of patience and I've set my stall out not to expect anything this season other than to see us play a bit more progressively. What does disappoint me is the fact that having set the bar so low I still came away feeling somewhat disappointed and that's a bit worrying. However early days and I hope that Saturdays performs just confirmed what PL must already know and that is we need more quality otherwise we may find ourselves in a very worrying position
  9. I don't think we looked any better when weimman was on the pitch supporting bent. I also don't think just having a better LB would have changed much either. We shouldn't have to rely on fullbacks to create our chances for us. Like Jacketspuds said, this debate really does highlight how weak we are at the moment.
  10. It has to be http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOsCYEGHnME
  11. He has proved that he can score goals in some pretty shite teams - that to me makes him worth considering. But 10m+ is ridiculous. I think at 7m he'd be worth taking
  12. In fairness 10 goals in teams that struggle is pretty good isn't it
  13. Must admit when it was clear Wolves were relegated Fletcher was definately one of the players that I'd like to have seen us go for. But at that price its a NO GO.
  14. I must admit I'm not SI biggest fan and I'm not convinced, that on the salary he commands , he's worth keeping. However I'm more than happy to see what PL has in store for him. If he can extract what a fair few on here can see then I'm equally happy to eat some humble pie
  15. I don't deny his talent, just question his effectiveness. You don't need to the statistic do it for you
  16. The VT Poker tounaments were quite good fun to start with - shame the interest dwindled. Would be good to get it going again
  17. I firmly believe that PL will give him a chance. I also believe that if he is still here come the end of the transfer window he will hardly feature in the team other than the occasion appearance in the COC.
  18. First time we've had proper sky blue sleeves in ages - lovin it
  19. Arrr nike - that would be the same quality product that was recalled due to quality issues confused. Give me this macron kit everytime

  22. What bollocks. u need to be a bit more progressive with the ball. yes all the best side keep the ball and move it swiftly and effectively. i dont on the other hand want to see 2 yards passes for no reason. these a difference between keepjng the ball and dojng it with purpose. Tippy tappy football leads to nothing. crisp pass and move ball retention leads to teams like barcelona. Thats the difference

  24. That Xavi's shit then isn't he. I saw the pitch data from that game as well, you're wrong. Please please tell me you're not trying to compare the way Xavi plays with that of J2M. As for that pitch map, well if you look at it and read the article it becomes pretty clear that he may have kept the ball well in that particular game but he really did absolutely nothing at all with it
