  1. Yeah, because he wouldn't think a doing a jig was 'gay'? We actually waved to MON, Kmac and even to Houllier, though it was only quietly and very briefly, for the latter.

    Relegation

All a game of football proves is who wins 3, 1 or 0 points. A terrible side of terrible players with a terrible manager could fluke a win against the best team in the world.
  3. This gets a thumbs-up from Me, because I bought him on FM and he scored 18 all season.
  4. No-one was actually talking about Wenger ever coming here. One person just asked 'who would you prefer, Lambert or Wenger'. Just to clear that up Anyway... Lambert is cool, I like how grumpy he is and I that he does things his own way. However, when we ask him to "give us a wave", he does it instantly, meaning that the chant barely even gets into full swing! Lambert out
  5. How many hands have you got? *insert curious Sherlock Holmes smiley*...
  6. I'm curious as to what type of forward Lambert will look to buy (either to replace Bent or to play in a wide position, maybe to provide competition for Wiemann). Would he go for a Gareth Bale-type winger, that has ability infront of goal as well as in a wide position? Maybe a smaller, skillful flair player, ala-Suarez? Or an actual 'forward', like Gabby, that can also play out wide?
  7. I don't want to see Bannan this week. As well as having a poor game against QPR, he lacks the physical attributes to make an impact against Stoke. Here's what I'd go for: --------------- Benteke --------------- -- Gabby ------ Ireland ---- Wiemann -- -------- El Ahmadi --- Westwood ------- Baker ---- Clark ------ Vlaar --- Lowton ----------------- Guzan ---------------- I'm a little unsure of how Baker would play at leftback, because we need our fullbacks to attack to give us width in the final third, so maybe swap him for Lichaj.
  8. Is it really a dead certaintly that Wanyama will be joining one of the big 4/5 ? I hear this a lot, then we see them going to some unknown team that can offer them competetive wages. I remember similar things being said about Sigurdsson, then he went abroad (Hoffenheim was it?) I think we should put in a bid for Wanyama. He might be tempted by the Lambert-revolution (providing we're not propping up the league table )
  9. I think you're going to be disappointed if you think we need a leftback in January. I would put money on it not happening. Lambert's building a team, he saw something in Bennett, like Lowton & Westwood. When he's back from injury, I fully expect Bennett to come back into the side. I also don't think we've seen the real Bennett at VP yet. I'll say it again, he's looked very cautious and nervous so far. We'll see more from him, I'm sure.
  10. It's odd how "one of the worst left backs" you've ever seen got called up to the England U21s.. I personally still think he'll be a decent player, but I'm going to give him more than 15 minutes on the pitch before I make my mind up on him.
  11. I don't think we're weak at leftback, just inexperienced. I see Bennett as a slightly less-experienced Lowton. Bennett has looked fairly cautious in the few games he's played. I think he'll be a decent player, like Lowton, though. I would like us to strengthen by buying a central midfielder & a wide striker (to play instead of Wiemann) at least.
  12. -------------- Guzan -------------- Lowton -- Vlaar -- Clark -- Lichaj --------- KEA ----- Westwood ------ Holman ------ Ireland ------- Gabby ------------- Benteke --------------- Bench: Guzan, Baker, Bannan, Carruthers, Delph, Wiemann, Bent (yeah right!) If Bennett's back then I'd play him instead of Lichaj. I think Wiemann has been doing well, but Holman deserves a chance (and Wiemann could do with a rest!) Bannan is okay, but I'd like to see a CM pairing of Westwood & KEA.
  13. FFS Villa?!?! 13 minutes without a goal from a corner! Lambert out!
  14. We tried to play, but the misplaced passes did disjoint the performance somewhat. On the plus side.. and Off Topic.. I heard a Sunderland fan on the radio Tonight saying "MON has no plan B. His team selections and substitutes are predictable". At least we're not bored with Lambert in charge!
  15. Mild booing? I didn't hear anything of the sort, personally. I heard 20k+ getting fully behind the team & Lambert.
  16. I think the exact same about people's comments about KEA. I think he's been a solid player for us this season, good passing, good hassling of opponents but people will jump on a bad pass or two and pile on the criticism. That said, I agree with Stevo. Bannan was dreadful tonight. Wayward passes, sloppy challenges and that time that he lost the ball by our corner flag, almost resulting in a Reading goal?! What was he playing at? I'd actually quite like to see KEA & Westwood with Ireland in front of them pulling the strings.
  17. Nope. I don't think people are simply blocking someone with a differing opinion. I personally have blocked people that I find irritating and irrational. I have loads of ppl on my VT that hold different opinions. That's fine. But then when someone makes a point that they cant backup, then they make the same point over and over, the block feature becomes a godsend. 2-1 villa! 1-0 to Reading at half time
  18. KEA was no-where near as bad as is being made out. He worked hard for the team, put in a few clever passes but had to hold back after his yellow. Westwood & Bannan are starting to look like a decent partnership, and Wiemann, Gabby & Benteke work well upfront. I just don't know what we need to change to start making the chances count? Experience? A creative player in the middle? Either way, it's hard to not be pleased after that performance.
  19. Mantis, I too remember. Constant digs about 'tippy tappy' football, or 'tika taka' as some referred to it as. Whenever posters mentioned the odd good performance (youngsters being 2-0 up against Man Utd until the annual breakdown?) opposing posters would bring up other PERFORMANCES and how possession is no good if you dont create chances. How those good performances could have been countered with 'He didn't wave to us at Anfield', I don't know!
  20. That's right. The people I have ignored are because their same old arguments are tiresome. I have no problem with people being negative or realistic. It all fuels a good debate, which is never a bad thing! However, some people are so pathetic with their arguments. Can you imagine an opposition goal being solely blamed on a player who played a sloppy pass, to a player who then fouled the opposition, resulting in a free kick, resulting in a cross... to a goal? HA! Can you imagine even IMAGINING having a reasonable debate with someone who would post such drivel?
  21. I was about to post something similar Tom. Lambert, like the team he's building, has a lot of potential.
  22. It can tt! Make sure you're using the full site (not mobile version). Click on the little arrow next to your username in the top-right hand corner of the screen.
