  1. Kicking in the Star Trek theme at the end of the Abrams reboots was a stroke of genius.
  2. He was in our pub quiz picture round last week. Couldn't remember his name (I do now).
  3. I agree, it certainly wasn't as good as TLL.
  4. Don't know why. I'm baffled. Hard to say. I guess it's because I learned on a manual, and it was the only driving I knew - it was several years before I first drove an auto. It was in the USA,and - while it was easy enough - I found that on twisty climbing roads it always changed down moments later than I would have done. Made me think it was wasting fuel. I know you've got the kick-down thing, but... dunno. Driving manual just feels like normal driving, it's second nature. In an auto my left hand and foot are redundant, and it feels odd. Having said that, I do tend to still choose auto in a left-hand drive hire car, as I find changing gear with my right hand feels really counter-intuitive, and takes me ages to get used to.
  5. Men Behaving Badly was essentially a remake of The Likely Lads.
  6. I agree. Except that for me it would be 1965 - 1975.
  7. It must be a trap. When you don't see Apaches, that's when they're most likely to attack.
  8. Yeah, same here. I probably see foxes a couple of times a week.
  9. What tune will you christen it with? Errrr... Sweet child of mine...no... ... Stairway to heaven... no stairway is forbidden... ermm... Wonderwall? Smoke on the Water.
  10. I'll happily drive either, but I prefer driving manual. (BTW, I didn't learn to drive until I was 33).
  11. One that does hold up well - watched it this evening - "Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads?". The episode where they were trying to avoid the England-Bulgaria result. Classic.
  12. 8/10. Missed with Westfalenstadion and The Valley. The first I can understand, but I've been to The Valley so no excuses there.
  13. Can't we just lump all these together?
  14. You bought a guitar without trying it out in the shop???
  15. All good 'uns Dave. As far as I know, that TV version of "Light Flight" (the Pentangle song from "Take Three Girls") isn't otherwise available anywhere. The version on the "Basket of Light" album has completely different lyrics. Similar to the situation with Frankie Laine's theme song on the original "3:10 to Yuma" soundtrack. Various FL compilations have the song, but it's invariably the re-written version, with "love song" rather than "gunfight" lyrics.
  16. You'll have to speak up a bit. See what I did there?
  17. Black music? Ragtime piano, New Orleans jazz, big bands, bebop, hard bop, r&b (see above), country blues, electric blues, doo-wop, southern soul, motown - all fine and good. It all started going tits up when James Brown funk got turned into disco. It's been pretty much a car crash since then. (As has "white" rock and pop, TBF). You don't like scratching? Okay yeah, you're never going to like hip-hop. That was the cream of the crop. Just in case I didn't make it clear: it's not that I don't like it; I HATE it. With a **** passion.
  18. OK, I tried your suggestions Keyblade, and it was as I said - awful. Tribe Called Quest I lasted exactly 12 seconds. The scratching and the vocal delivery - ugh. Gang Starr - six seconds. FFS, it's horrible!
  19. Socially acceptable, hence mainly unnoticeable. Provided it's only one per ear. Those multiple cartilage things are a no-no. Eyebrows, lips, nose, tongue (yes, I know), belly button, nips, genitalia...
  20. VT is Google searchable. Wouldn't be massively unlikely for the fiancee to stumble across Morpheus's confessions.
  21. Only ten million years, you were close enough.
