  1. Al Swearengen One of the things that totally put me off that series. Inappropriate swearing (I don't mind swearing in things like "The Wire", but it doesn't work in westerns, IMO) by a character actually called "Swearengen". Played by Lovejoy. Just... NO.
  2. Some families churn out top sportsmen. Look at the Brownlees in triathlon (there's a third brother on the way up there, too).
  3. You all know full well there will be Swansea fans logging on here to do a bit of forum scouting. The cat will soon be out of the bag.
  4. Must pull you up on the use of "saying", there. The correct syntax is: 'Why am I like "like" so much?'
  5. Or that sweary bloke from Deadwood.
  6. No. I could never get David Dickenson out of my head if it was him.
  7. Oh, just knockabout - I was trying to play Bluegrass, but I always ended up handing it back to its owner and going back to my guitar. I can bluff Carter style flatpicking on that.
  8. No, I totally get it Brian. But have you tried the Thorntons? Seriously, you can't tell. The exception that proves the rule - they don't have that "whitey taste".
  9. Too much like the last one. Time to go back to an oldster, IMO. A black one? Hey, I know - Morgan Freeman!!!
  10. I'd rather eat Hersheys than eat white chocolate. Honest to god, Hersheys! Close call. I dislike white chocolate pretty intensely, but... Thorntons' white chocolate truffles are actually quite tolerable, so I'd eat those ahead of Hersheys. If it was between Hersheys and the execrable Milky Bar though, I'd have a real problem, both are equally disgusting.
  11. Suit, no tie. But what the hell do I know?
  12. моя кораб на въздушна възглавница е пълна с змиорки (Sorry Trent, posted before I saw your diktat).
  13. Religion is a successful meme. So far.
  14. I haven't played a banjo for years, quite fancy getting one. Especially as my daughter is thinking about getting (i.e. dropping hints that she would like me to buy her) a mandolin.
  15. Hi Grandiin, welcome to VT. Thanks for the info - looks promising. Do stick around to follow the Villa next season!
  16. My new toy arrived yesterday. Some fun to be had:
  17. This had better be a joke.
  18. Seems to be momentum building behind the idea of a female doctor. Joanna Lumley? Helen Mirren? Grace Jones? Jo Brand?
  19. That's why I went for my Gibson Sonex back in the 80s - it was clearly an attempt to get the best of both worlds, effectively a Les Paul crossed with a Telecaster. Two pairs of humbuckers, but with a coil tap switch to get that trebly single coil sound when you want it. Schaller machines that stay in tune through anything you like, and the whole thing is built like a brick shithouse - very heavy (in the actual weight sense!), so it's hard work on the shoulders, but it sustains like a bitch. I would ideally have liked lower profile frets, but I've got used to the neck after all these years. I love it. This should really be in the VT Musicians thread.
