  1. pink room is his daughters. He has 3 kids and is only 24  His missus is stunning, despite giving birth to three children!!
  2. On form he is...I never thought Dunne would have a season anyway near the one he had last season. I rate Roger Johnson, can we make a cheeky bid for him?
  3. Respecting McLeish and the team he's built doesn't mean you can't laugh at Zigic.
  4. Can't remember Milner being criticised to any great extent once last year, apart from perhaps the Derby match at the Sty. I find myself torn between wanting Man City to fail and wanting Milner to do well as I genuinly like the guy. You like Milner?! Never mind that he always bigged himself up to be a loyal Mr Villa but proved in the end that he was just another money-grabbing mercenary? (I never believed all his lies btw) Can't fault Milner for his commitment on the pitch but off it he's just a dick like everyone else.
  5. Well in fairness I think many people said the same (including the Liverpool players) - Rafa won it with what was essentially Houllier's team. Bit surprised that Houllier backed Domenech after Euro 2008 though - that's a bit of a worry! We give Benitez too little credit for the CL win. His signings, Alonso and Garcia, played very integral roles within the team. Whereas Houllier burdened the team with players like Traore and Biscan. I know he signed a few other gems as well, but I think it's a bit OTT to credit Houllier with the CL win. More food for thought: ""It is ironic that GH's comment actually proved that he is not as good as a manager as RB. Most of the players in 2005 was GH's player, RB used the exact same players to win the Champion League while GH would not even manage to get pass group stage(2002/03). The players were the same, the only difference is that RB is better than GH." This proves that GH is definitely a very horrible manager. A team that you cannot do well with that wins a champs league after you left them." Comments from another website. I still think Houllier is/will be a decent appointment btw, I'm just trying to put some objectivity into the debate instead of putting forth a one-sided view.
  6. Uh oh that means team selection still up to KMac for the Stoke and Bolton games.
  7. I'm not sure if anybody saw it but I was listening to commentary on that dreadful SHA-Liverpool game and apparently there was one incident where the ball came flying in and Gerrard beat Zigic in the air with the Serb not even bothering to leap at all?! Sounds like Zigic really is a lazy arse, shite signing.
  8. I'm starting to worry about Houllier's tendency to, well, do irresponsible things and make irresponsible comments. From these quotes it sounds to me as if Houllier was shirking away from his responsiblity as France technical director, claiming that he was "not the pilot, co-pilot, stewardess" or whatever. I mean surely Domenech was the main man to blame but to claim NO responsibility at all is cowardly on Houllier's part. Now the interesting thing is that IIRC, a short while ago Houllier also attempted to claim credit for Plop's 05 CL win, even though he wasn't even involved with the club by that time. Sounds to me that Houllier is a coward. If things go well, he will claim the credit, but if things go to shit he will probably say something like "oh it isn't the manager's fault, it's not like I told Sidwell to miss that open goal" Just some food for thought. I wouldn't mind all this one bit if Houllier brings us into the top 4 mind, but I am worried.
  9. THIS. Saying this for the umpteenth time, he looks shady. Very Palpatine-like.
  10. Do you seriously suppose that a thread titled "... Spuds/Redknobb Hatefest" - a thread now running to nearly 250 pages - contains many "pretty genuine and reasonable" questions? I would say "probably not since you're one of it's main contributors", but that's too easy. I don't know if it's your inferiority complex, but when somebody asks a Spurs related question, in a Spurs related forum, to a Spurs fan it seems very odd that you would make the answer about Villa. :? Busted
  11. This, i should not have voted so early. I'm afraid Houllier might end up missing more than just the mere one match.
  12. Great work legov. Try reading the articles before moaning next time. There is no mention of Harry Redknapp on the OS. That was tongue in cheek mate no need to get so worked up. :winkold: :winkold:
  13. Great I get a big picture of Stevie Me as well as an article on dirty 'Arry on the front page of the OS. Great work, AVFC.co.uk :x
  14. I think what he is saying is not that we are shit, but that we are just outside being a regular top 6 team. Don't forget that he is probably thinking about Villa when he was at Liverpool and the DOL years etc. Prior to Lerner taking over, we were in a downward spiral and I honestly think we would have been relegated if Lerner and MON hadn't stepped in. So if you consider Mr H's comments are based on the last 15-20 years, his assessment isn't that far off. During that period, we have made it into Europe, but not regularly. This. We need to get rid of the notion that we are part of the footballing elite in England because we are not. Historically yes, but not in the modern era (which for me started around 1999/2000)
  15. Shit, if that's the case I'm putting my money on a Stoke victory sadly.
  16. Bullshit, if Hodgson does well at Plop (and he will, no doubt, he always starts tenures slowly) he is a shoe-in for the England job.
  17. Again, I don't think this is fair and it doesn't stand up to scrutiny. When he was younger I'd say you'd have a point, but since Harry as been at the club he's played 14 Prem games without Woodgate or King and we've only conceded 10 goals. That's a fantastic defensive record and he's key to it. He definitely doesn't need anyone minding him anymore and he can't do much more than prove that in the Prem, which he has. It's as if people are determined to find fault in him or different ways to explain our defensive record without crediting him. He's defnitely got mistakes in him and as others have said clearly isn't good when defenders get in behind him. But he's obviously doing enough right to mean that he's major asset and big reason why we've got a decent defence. Maybe it's time people start looking at what it is he does so well that makes him a good defender. It's easy to point to the times he's made mistakes, but this ignores the things like when he makes so many last ditch blocks, clearing headers, early tackles and interceptions, that he's worth the odd mistake, to the point that our defence condedes less with him than without him and last season he had a better goals against record than any of your main defenders. I'm not being antagonistic by comparing him to your defenders, but think it needs to be pointed out that despite the shit he gets, when he plays, we concede less than you and that's with or without Woodagate and King. I do understand the criticism as you aren't Spurs fans and therefore wont watch our games that closely and thus when Dawson makes an error it gets highlighted on MOTD and so it seems like he's a liability. But that doesn't tell the true story. It ignores the numerous times every game Daws cuts out trouble early so it doesn't even make the highlights on MOTD. No matter how hard you try and cover up for him, he's always going to be error prone as shown by his performance in the England friendly where he went missing. Dawson was obviously instrumental in your clean sheet against Wigan.....oh wait. To be fair Joey never claimed that Dawson was not error-prone. He's just claiming that this is more than offset by the other important, but less highlight-worthy aspects of his defending, that contribute to Spurs' defence. He made a good point about the number of times we Villa fans get to watch him as well - too many times we see people making quick, rash judgements on the quality of players we don't watch week in week out (cases in point - Dunne, Collins). Considering that Joey has watched Dawson more regularly than any of us I would be inclined to take him for his word. As for England, Dawson is hardly the first player to perform for club but not country.
  18. This. Credit to Joey for explaining his opinion clearly without resorting to angry verbal attacks.
  19. I still cannot fathom how some people are in favour of KMac getting the job when he repeatedly makes simple tactical errors.
  20. I think it's more about the perception that he looks down on our club tbh, rather than his managerial capabilities.
  21. It's 3.5 million pounds, you could EASILY, EASILY find worse signings than that if you take into consideration that he came in on the cheap. Downing, considering the transfer fee. Sidwell Didn't Beye cost more? Harewood cost more as well
  22. This. I would be horrified if KM turned out to be the one picking the team and planning tactics.
  23. I'm sorry but outside of Britain we have a very limited fanbase. Didn't someone mention Aston Villa FC have more supporters clubs, worldwide than Manchester United! You have got to be having a laugh, right? Guys I don't know about you but I live in the Far East and it's hard enough to find a Villa shirt on sale in shops, let alone spot people wearing them. Utd and Liverpool shirts on the other hand are EVERYWHERE.
