  1. a bit of an over-reaction there!!! we did well when lost Barry and I expect us to do the same without JM get a grip,McGeady wont be Milners replacement, and tbh Milner going isnt enough to just turn us in to a mid table team ffs he wasnt that good. Yup but last season we had Milner to step in for Barry and he turned out to be just as good, if not better. Can we honestly say that Aiden "can't-get-into-Ireland-team-ahead-of-feckin-Liam-Lawrence" McGeady can do that if Milner leaves?
  2. Feck Milner out, Mc-O'Geady in, midtable here we come =(
  3. Overrated IMO, made to look good because Schweinsteiger was so outstanding beside him.
  4. Love the new kits! (except the keeper -.- change it ffs)
  5. You might say that regarding any number of players at many clubs - it's not a sound basis for choosing which players to bid for. For example, Richards may well not be wanted at City, but I'd take him at Spurs because the potential is there. O'Hara is young, improved considerably last season on loan at Pompey and may well have the potential to develop further given a fresh start at a new club. That he might, I wouldn't want that club to be us though as he isn't good enough. I think he has a lot of potential.
  6. Not true. We dont have to sell Milner to buy players and we certainly dont have to breed and sell mice to get new players in. Are you in a state of advanced refreshment or retarded? But in all honesty if we want Ireland we will have to sell Milner...no way will City let Ireland go to us if they don't get what they want first.
  7. Apparently he's NOT going to hand in a transfer request, and will go only if we agree a deal with City. So if reports are to be believed we are well in control of the situation, which is good.

  9. Eh still prefer Acorns.
  10. When you take Mascherano and Veron and leave Cambiasso probably the most in form holding midfielder in the world at the time you know he has slight technical limitations . Agree, Cambiasso is better. That said Mascherano is still very good. And Cambiasso isn't Usain Bolt, he can't run all over the pitch covering for 3 other (invisible) midfielders at once.
  11. What about 08/09? Mascherano was playing with Alonso most of the time, not Lucas. Liverpool were pretty offensive-minded back then. As for Argentina, what did you expect him to do, try to contain three opposing midfielders at once? (Ozil, Khedira, Schweinsteiger)? Without Veron/Bolatti the Argentinian team looked terribly unbalanced with the two extra players in central midfield replaced by wingers (Di Maria, Maxi). As I said before I do think Mascherano is slightly overrated but he's still a quality player and IMO suffered from tactical limitations especially in the Germany game.
  12. Totally agree. I have yet to see anything about him to suggest he is any better than NRC. Both aren't great at passing or shooting and both can tackle fairly well and chase a player well although NRC is better at that aspect. I guarantee if Mascherano was called Bob Smith everybody would think he's rubbish. He has got to be the luckiest football player alive considering how much money he's earning and how he is captain of Argentina with the very limited ability he has. Absolute rubbish. His anticipation and tackling ability is amazing, whilst when he wins the ball he barely gives it away. Ridiculous to say he has his reputation due to his name. I'm sure every team in the world, would take him if they were in a position to do so. Of course the guy has his flaws, but he's one of the best defensive midfielders in the world and 10x the player NRC is and I rate Nigel. I agree Mascherano is overrated, but he's still a very very good player. Can't tackle...at least not as well as some people tend to give him credit for. However that said his reading of the game and positional sense is very very good and that sets him apart from more average players like NRC. There are better DMs out there though, and IMO Hodgson would do well to grab 30m quid for him to spend on other players. I believe Lucas is a massively underrated player and I think if Mascherano leaves he will step up this season and find his way into the Brazil team (Felipe Melo seems to have gone backwards). IMO Benitez (FSW) tried too hard to make him into a new Alonso, which he will never be. FFS just let him do what he does best - win possession, play the simple ball.
  13. On a side note I'm sick of everyone wanking to certain players just because they had a good WC, particularly players from Germany. Apparently Chelsea fans think they can just buy off Schweinsteiger.
  14. Luke Young wants to be in London closer to his family his mind wasn't on football last season which is understandable. Cuellar did a decent job in his place, no he wasn't a box to box Brazilian wing back but neither was Young. I would love MON to go out and buy a quality right back but if he doesn't Cuellar is fine in that position. MON buying a boxtobox wingback?
  15. Apparently Abramovich is ready to bid 55m quid on Torres. Don't ask me about the source I have no idea. Probably bollocks.
  16. Was watching some old circa 2000 era clips and have to agree with you to an extent there.
  17. You win nothing with kids you know Aye, but you can get top 4 with kids
  18. Anyone agree with me that we should make a cheeky bid for Shay Given?
  19. Germany will win it. **** octopus
  20. Different. England is full of shooters and aggressive players. World class, but lacking in technical ability. That's why they failed, IMO. But Citeh this year have Johnson, Silva, Robinho etc AND they have English style players as well - Ireland for example. They have everything, from an attacking standpoint. I'm sure you know Ireland is not English but he is not an English style player either and is likely leaving. I think he's pretty similar to Gerrard and Lampard.
