  1. Must have been a different James Milner playing for Man City in the charity shield then. Seriously, why post this shit ? No, too easy...
  2. Dunne's as relic, had he'd been born 20 years earlier and played in the 80's or early 90's he'd been an very good defender. In modern topflight football there is (or shouldn't be) any room for players like him. When MON signed him i didn't know if i should laugh or cry. One of those players along with Heskey that i always saw as a joke when they played for other clubs. Dunne's first season was very good, but after that it's been just as bad as i feared. I know he was injured but Dunne was THE worst player by far in the Euros bar none, at 33 i strongly doubt he'll ever return to any sort of form again
  3. I think what's been done wrong is us constantly bringing in expensive senior players on higher wages but on equal or only slightly higher quality than our youngsters that is hindering the development. The worst example by far is Knight for Cahill but there are countless examples. Heskey, Curtis Davies, Beye, Maloney, Routledge... Did any of them offer anything? Sadly due to lack of playing time and never being able to build confidence we'll probably never know how good Delf, Bannan, Albrighton, Cahill could have been for us If the youngsters aren't good enough for the starting 11 then fine, at least they'll be cheaper than £8,5 m Cuellar on the bench. If we do have money then by all means keep on spending, but nothing i've seen in the last few years points to that
  4. It took Lambert 3 years to build us up, be patient guys eh? Yeah, but this time he's starting the build up in the Premier League, not in the Sunday League. We have to hit the ground running
  5. I refuse to belive this is it, that this is the team Lambert is going to sport this season. It'll be a disaster We desperatly need new and better players if we're not gonna end up in the relegation scap yet again. Problem is we don't just need new players for the squad, we need new players that will walk straight into the starting 11 and that cost money. The back 4 is just as week as last season, the midfield is filled with decent players but lack quality and bite and if Bent get's injured we won't score... We all hope Lambert is the Messiah , but if we don't sign at least a very good defensive mid and a quality left back even him walking on water and will help, we'll sink
  6. I do belive that some fans still is under the impression that we are too big a club to loan players from other clubs, that this is "smalltime" and something Bolton or Fulham does, but not a club like Villa. I think times have changed and that they are wrong
  7. Since we lack proper winger bar Albrighton, (don't really think Holman or N'Zogbia excell there) maybe we should try the "Christmas tree" formation a'la Ancelotti at Milan? 4-3-2-1 with Ireland and who ever is in form of Bannan, Holman or N'Zogbia as "trequartistas" We still need a another CM ballwinner but it might suit our team.
  8. Hope he brings his exorcism kit...
  9. I do not belive we will ever be a self sustaining business and at the same time achieve any kind of success that we fans will be pleased with. Is there any football club that does that? Kudos to Newcastle by the way who might have proven me wrong here... Arsenal are doing ok financially i think? (bar the humongous loan on the Emirates) But they haven't won anything in years. All the other big clubs are in debt up to thier ears and loosing money like crazy. I don't think the fair play rules will ever effect the biggest clubs, they'll find a way around it. It's clubs like us, Valencia, Mallorca, Everton and so on that will suffer. The best we can hope for is survival and hopefully under Lambert play some entertaining football Edit: Ain't i just a ray of sunshine...
  10. I thought we didn't get relegated! We are still playing in the Premier League, right?
  11. May aswell have stopped there mate. They bought him for 10. Theyre not going to let him go two seasons later for half the price ( and lets be honest its not as if hes doing bad ) With MON in charge anything is possible. Isn't Jones at Stoke?
  12. Rather have Heskey back than sign Owen even if it's on a pay as you play contract. Kenwyne Jones could be good for the right money, problem is none of our players can cross the ball Edit: Actually thought he was younger than (almost) 28, so on second thought it's a no for me
  13. If he stays fit I bet you Fletcher will be in the top 5 Premier League goalscorers next season. Is that if he stayes fit and everyone else get's injured? Sorry, but i just don't think he's that good. He's not bad, but he's not worth anything near £12 m for a club like us
  14. £12 m for Fletcher is only ok if we have an unlimited amount of money, and if we have an unlimited amount of money we should not be looking at players like Fletcher.
  15. If you only post in one thread about Simone Farina this year, make it this one!
  16. Dempsey has repeatedly stated in the past that his next move would be somewhere where he would have the potential to play CL football. Unfortunately, we are still quite a ways from that point at this moment in time, so Dempsey would almost certainly be a no go. Yes i agree, the again Liverpool are not likelly to feature in the CL any time soon. At almost 30 im not sure where Dempsey might go to get his CL football. Russia maybe, but i can't see him going there.
  17. I'd expect him to start strong with MON, then fade away during the second half of the season having scored 11 goals with only 2 of them coming after february.
  18. Can't we just leave the Spurs benchwarmers alone?
  19. He's dutch, I wouldn't expect anything else tbh. I have no clue, but im sure he's delightful. I was referring to the name game we seem to be enjoying in this thread
  20. I'd rather it's a loan. At least then we'd only be stuck with him for 1 season
  21. Well, apperently he's kind of a dick...
  22. Routledge and Walker as well Oh god! Routledge... At least Walker worked out for both clubs
  23. Alan Hutton, Jermaine Jenas and now Danny Rose? We really need to stop doing Tottenham favours. Thank god Ledley King has retired otherwise im sure we'd loan him just for the honour of footing his medical bills
  24. Do you reakon if we say it enough times and tweet and facebook the official club profiles then they will sign him? The legend claims that Van Wolfswinkel is summoned by anyone who looks into a mirror and chants his name five times
