  1. Lets give this guy a full pre season with new team mates before we completey destroy him.....however...... i made a point of watching him for 10 mins yersterday and he was very very poor. I also had the misfortune of watching him v wolves where he was diabolical. However, as i say, 6 months settling in and a pre season im sure he'll be fine. Funny thing is i saw him v Man Utd and he was very good indeed
  2. let's all get sp- banner - ed pre game.............................. ill get me coat
  3. That'll be the Bolton that are very good at home and we only could draw against at home. Wolves who have beaten Man Utd, Arsenal and Man City. West Brom with a new manager. West Ham, who are much improved, gaining points and it's away so we are guarenteed to let in at least one goal. And Wigan, who have drawn where we got thrashed today. Not looking good. If we cant get minimum 12 pts from those games we deserve to go down
  4. I was there and though Downing had a good game - he is a player that really splits opinion
  5. Welcome back sir Can i ask that you obtan a tape from ESPN of Ian Holloways latest rant at our manager and then consider taking legal action against some very slanderous remarks. Mr Houllier should, at the very least, request an independent greivance against him through the LMA as his accusations tnight were frankly disgusting bordering on racist
  6. i agree - abuse of downing very odd - gabby was very very poor in that 45 minutes
  7. I know he hasnt asked to play there but gabby has been **** dreadful in this game. He looks overweight and slow to me
  8. fabulous signing, although wont believe it until i see the back of the mail with him holding up that scarf. brilliant, absolutely brilliant
  9. look lads (and lassies) its unlikely any of us have ever met but fairly likely the large majority of us have walked side by side up to the stands of our beloved team. We have a new manager, 80 odd percent thinking its a great decision, a few sitting on the fence, a few totally against it. The one thing we should ALL have in common is we want our team to do well, we love them to bits, we live and breath it, we check news now every 5 mins for villa news, we hopelessly refresh the BBC sport website on transfer deadline day, but in our thousands we troop down to aston hoping we get three points. So whether you think this is a hopeless plea, a bloke with nothing better to do while his wife is at work, or someone who is actually speaking some sense, lets forget the misquotes, the spin, the shitty articles in newspapers without any fact, the ridiculous opinions of stan collymore et al and get right behind our new manager - we are aston **** villa COME ON !!!!!
  10. Are you sure you havent just read newsnow?? or any other credible news source ?
  11. Sorry but dont agree with point 5 Sir If you went out and got a top drawer manager (Jol) or someone with a top class reputation (Klinsmann) the fans would flock back believe me. And sorry what do you mean by "good old days"?? This has been a horrific 2 months for the club, the worst for 20 years. A complete balls up from start to finish.
  12. A larger transfer kitty doesn't really catch it though does it, to get into the top four in this league might cost us another £300m. As we are, we're comfortably in the top half and we've every chance of pushing for sixth again. Spending ten million doesn't really change that, twenty million doesn't either. Pushing for the top four has become much more expensive since Randy took over, four years ago you would have thought £30m a year in spending would give you a chance, now it would get you nowhere near. We could go out now and spend £40m and be fifth - and bust. Faced with that, I think we're playing the right game - we're holding and waiting for a weakness or an opportunity. Exactly. One of the reasons why it costs so much. Man City! People need to get a grip and not be such spoilt brats! I know. Such spoilt brats who want to compete with the very best. How dare they. What are they thinking? We'll simply accept mediocrity and finishing 6th-10th and wait for an opportunity. God knows what that opportunity will be, or when it will come. God knows if Randy can even afford to bankroll another spending spree. But Villa fans have been waiting for years anyway. Another few won't hurt. Also can I just point out that Bob Bradley is WAY ahead of other candidates when it comes to bookies odds. He is 11/10 with William Hill to be the next manager. That usually means he's nailed on to take the job. Sven is second at 5/1. Bradley 1/1 with Sky Bet. How did we find out that MON had walked out? When the odds on him leaving were slashed by the bookies. I would say there is certainly something happening very soon, especially in regards to the Generals latest comments. They are not always correct. This is how bookies make money. Sven was huge odds on two weeks ago, and Macdonald was 6/4 on Sunday morning. If i had a spare 20k and whacked it on Mark Hughes in the morning he would be favourite. I still think there is not a cat in hells chance of Bradley being our manager. I backed Klinnsman at 11/1 two weeks ago and think that was a fantastic bet
  13. 150k a week multiplied by 52 doesnt make pretty reading. Over 7mil a year for 3 players that are not only very average but also not guaranteed starters.
  14. You cant sack them you buffoon. Osbourne and Salifou may as well play out their contract in the reserves, they arent first team players and wont be in the 25. Its not their wages we need to save, its the other overated crap that O'Neill signed
  15. Harewood was out of contract. Those two aren't. We'd have to pay them money to cancel the contract. just dont pick them for any football they soon piss off Piss off where??????
  16. It's not Salifou's wages that will help the club re-stablise on the wages front. It's the Sidwells, Heskey and Beye's off this world. Bet they are costing the club 100k a week easily
  17. You cant release players on a free that are under contract. They would take the club to the cleaners.
  18. You cant just 'get rid' of these players If they are under contract someone has got to want to buy them first, and clubs arent exactly queing up for some of our players are they I am aware of that - "get rid" was a colloquial term to describe "sell them". Lots of teams in the PL would be happy with the players we are trying to ship out but would they be happy paying their wages? I don't think so. So how do you propose we get rid or sell them then? There is no way another premier league team would buy osbourne or salifou - no chance
  19. You cant just 'get rid' of these players If they are under contract someone has got to want to buy them first, and clubs arent exactly queing up for some of our players are they
  20. It appears you have accepted that so lets end it there before this arguement goes nowhere. I know why i'm still breathing i wont accept second best for my club , especially the likes of bob bradley and gareth southgate.
  21. You may as well give up then, or follow a rich club. I wont have my club being linked with such sub standard candidates. I no i wont just 'deal with it' otherwise we may as well shut up shop now and be content with 8th place every year
  22. Aston Villa are a big club. They are a massive club. I resent being told my head is in the clouds, i just want the best, i wont settle for the Southgate's and Bob **** Bradleys of this world. Basing the size of a club by it's balance sheet is very sad indeed. If you want to settle for those aforementioned candidates and be happy then I do hope your ambition is not reflected amongst other fans
  23. The same reason he was about to leave Ajax for Fulham. And as for managers not knowing where Birmingham is...wake up. This is football club is one of the biggest around, fantastic stadium, won nearly every honour in the game. Why shouldnt we be able to attract the best
  24. Towards the bottom after taking them to a top 5 finish the previous two seasons. He was also a dodgy hotel meal away taking them to 4th place. The bloke is a top manager, and if i look round at some other candidates for the job, he's the best one by a mile. The other names are horrific, this is Aston Villa for **** sake, people should be busting a gut to take this job
  25. Well I can't. What has Jol done? What has he won? What did he do at Spurs to make him so great? Didn't he buy the likes of Dos Santos, Taarbat? Ramos signed Dos Santos. Besides for evert taarabt and dos santos, there is a shorey, harewood, salifou and knight. Jol is a top quality manager and as for what he has ever won..... who cares about that? Out of the top 10 candidates for the job, his pedigree is far better. What's Moyes ever won?
