  1. wonder if the above comments would have changed had we hung on another 2 mins? **** gutted but id've snatched your hands off for a draw at HT and that opinion coming from a game against QPR is testament i guess to where we are currently Still unbeaten but we got to start playing some football and cut out this long ball shite. Next week is a must win against wigan - seems silly to say that, but its an absolute must win game even at this early stage. N'zogbia was absolutely dreadful - terrible, terrible performance from him - he looks woefully short on confidence
  2. stop blaming petrov!!!!!! **** sake - biggest scapegoat of all time on here, the midfield have got **** neck ache watching the ball sail over their heads - how is that petrov fault??
  3. bit difficult to blame the midfield when all we do is bypass it
  4. how can you rate his performance when all weve done all game is bypass the midfield
  5. its typical of our fans to write this player off before he's even landed in england - its what makes other teams laugh at us....
  6. we both know that, that is absolute horseshit
  7. you meant phil bardsley surely, david bardsley was a very good full back
  8. Idea: Next pre season; we say to fans - If you commit to the club and buy a season ticket - if we hit a target of say, 30k season tickt holders you can all have your season tickets for £300. Good idea huh? Everyones a winner. The ground is full every home game, the fans also pay a great price to watch the club. Contact me if you want the rights to this idea
  9. Petrov is a top class player. The fans that slag him off are neadertholic morons who dont understand football. He was absolutely top drawer yesterday - the critcism he gets is completely unjust - his villa career has been slightly overshadowed by this scapegoat tag he has amongst some fans
  10. Sorry mate - i know you are entitled to your say, but that statement is balls. Luke Moore had a shoulder problem - do you honestly think Aston Villa, with our medical staff and facilities at our disposal would sign a goalkeeper - a position that you are prone to diving about on the floor rather a lot - that has a 'bad' shoulder as you put it did you stop reading after the first sentence? Nope.... But i saw the line ' but he has a bad shoulder though' and instantly thought that the rest of the post cant be as bad as this...and to be fair you pulled it back a bit - doesnt mask how factually incorrect it is though. Shay Given does not have a bad shoulder any more than I have a bad shoulder (which i dont) ever dislocated it? coz theyre notoriously problematic Can't say I have - but quite frankly, and dont take this the wrong way - i trust some of the best medical staff money can buy over your medical opinion doctor p3te im not saying its a given (no pun intended) that there'll be issues, and as i pointed out he'll have been put through his paces, but it's happened before and it'll happen again where a previous injury gets past a medical Ok, we'll maybe he'll go for a shit and tear his bowel again - then we can blame the medical staff for not spotting it Every player is at risk of injury - we havent signed a player with a bad shoulder - weve signed a player that once dislocated his shoulder - in the same way that Stewart Downing once had his foot stamped to pieces and hasnt suffered a re-occurence.
  11. We are doing exactly the right thing here. I can blame the board for lots of things over the past 12 months but I cant blame them for not being held to ransom by Wigan bloody Athletic

  14. well done mate - thats the post of the day for me - sooooo many doom mongerers

  16. .......and there were many goalkeepers to choose from. Foster, Al-Habsi, Craig Gordon, Macgregor, Green - all were gettable. Shay Given is a better goalkeeper than all of them.
  17. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shay_Given#Career_statistics the three seasons from 2006-9 don't look great there. Three consecutive seasons of reduced appearances is why Given has a reputation for being injury prone. Now he might turn out to be a great signing, but I reckon his shoulder is dodgy, and there's a 50/50 chance he'll **** it again. If he doesn't, then it's a great gamble, if he does then we have to hope Guzan steps up. On balance, this is a good signing, because there wasn't much else out there to choose from, but there is a big chance this will go wrong. He missed a hell of a lot of games with a quite serious injury to his bowel That isnt being injury prone - an average of 40 games per season in 10 years isnt imjury prone. Thats normally a tag you give to Ledley King, Woodgate, Kieron Dyer, Owen Hargreaves, Michael Owen - Shay Given isnt injury prone. Big chance it could go wrong?? I dont understand your reasoning - any transfer could go wrong - every player is one game away from a career ending injury
  18. People keep raising the prone to injury tag. It's completely untrue Discounting last season when he was dropped Shay Given has averaged 40 games per season in all competitions over the past 10 seasons Not a record I would normally associate with injury prone
  19. Right, are you saying you know about business than actual business people who do this for a living It's not going to stop others being signed - **** the contract - who cares about the contract.
  20. It's because people love the club and want everything in favour of the club. My opinion is that it's a great signing and i'm not bothered about the length of contract. But i can understand that view. I can't It's an utterly bizarre view to have.
  21. Please explain this to me - on the basis goalkeepers last, upon average I reckon, 5/6 more years at the top level than outfield players why is a 5 year contract such insanity?
  22. I'll never work out many of the supporters of this football club. Moaned for weeks that we didnt have a goalkeeper - we sign a real top class goalkeeper - one of the very, very best in he business - and people moan about the length of the contract. It's **** unbelievable
  23. Prob because Friedel is 40 mate and Given is a beter goalkeeper - just a hunch like
  24. Well, I received my new away shirt and part of the 'T' on the sponsors logo has come away from the shirt...... Has the past 12 months at this football club been some kind of sick joke?
