  1. That's exactly how I read the article 8pints. Would love PL to pull his signature out of the bag!
  2. I've suggested him for you guys for years, good foil for Darren Bent. Big strong decent on the ground, can play both midfield and attack. Able to give support to Bent, but also drop down and add to the numbers in the midfield Guys you're both spot on. Toivonen would be an excellent addition and the perfect foil for Bent. Can play the target man as well as dropping into the no.10 role and linking play with the midfield. There was talk earlier in the summer of his fee being around £8-9m and I imagine £40k p/w would be a significant payrise from the Eredivise. Sign him up!
  3. Have you seen the application form? I think you'd have trouble filling it out.
  4. Ola Toivonen wasn't even in the matchday 18 for PSV yesterday, even after scoring 2 goals in the Dutch equivalent of the Charity shield in midweek. Not injured as far as I can see, on the move perhaps? Rumours of interest from Newcastle, would love him to be our 'big man' along side Bent, apparently he played the No.10 role very effectively during the week.We can but hope I suppose!
  5. Agree that Ireland is showing great promise in the pre-season games so far. I think having KEA & Holman in the team, who seem to be on the same wavelength as him has really helped. Of course having a manager who understands passing probably helps too! Going on the personnel we have now I'd like to see something like this as our first 11. .....................Guzan Lowton....Dunne....Clark....Lichaj ..........El Ahmadi...Bannan N'Zogbia.......Ireland.....Holman ......................Bent I think there will be a few more changes before West Ham though, ideally another winger/AM as CNZ has looked pretty poor in the USA, I think maybe a more experienced fullback too and maybe a target man. I think overall and Ireland is testament to this, we are looking better already with PL in charge of the team.
  6. The Owen agent rumour worries me, unless he was dropping off the new 'Michael Owen' brochures for potential sales. I think if we are to get another striker in, it will be a bigger target man. Lukaku on loan from Chelsea would be a great option if the money is still a bit tight. I don't care if people think it's training up other teams players, if he helps us get top 6, then we can attract better strikers next summer. If money isn't tight let's go get The Hulk, Lambert seems quite the salesman and its good to dream....now where did I put that acid?....
  7. Maybe someone like Samir Carruthers has impressed PL enough in the first couple of training sessions and he feels he could spend the money better elsewhere?! You know as an alternative to it being completely fabricated in the first place.
  8. We were linked with Kader Mangane last summer, he was absolute bobbins at the ACN this year. Had the speed and turning circle of the Woolwich ferry!
  9. Ah Cooper's Injury trolling his ****-wittery across all the major Villa message boards. I wondered where he went after getting the old 'Spanish archer' from H&V! Has he suggested Jermain Beckford yet this window?
  10. You can even see the guy who took the shot from the previous angle.
  11. errr...No sorry WE can't, where I come from it's deemed bad luck not to mention people in pairs. So on top of Poyet & Clarke, I'd like to moot Gianfranco Zola & Ray Wilkins, Rafa Benitez & Pako Ayesteran, Simon Grayson & Larry David, Roobarb & Custard and Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five... Just off to check the odds on Betfair!
  12. Are you trying to sound like a parody? If you are you've outdone yourself mate!
  13. £££££ Hopefully? The wage bill is now lower, don't think transfer fees have ever been an issue and maybe Randy has realised the FFP rules only come into effect if you're anywhere near qualifying for europe...
  14. Poyet with Ray Wilkins as no.2 would be a great appointment in my book.
  15. Not sure if they've been mentioned, but how about Gus Poyet with Ray Wilkins as his no.2? Poyet plays good football and Wilkins is a very experienced coach!
  16. Now we're moving towards relative safety, would love to see us give the likes of Weimann and Gardner a proper chance. Weimann looks like a decent poacher and recently said he'd been doing extra session with Benty before his injury, picking up a few tips for making the right runs and gaining that extra yard on the defenders. Gardner showed that he has a much better and consistent shot than Petrov, would love to see him in a middle two with HErd, who I think has been exceptional this season. My team for Bolton: ...............Given Hutton Collins Cuellar Warnock ..........Herd...Gardner N'Zogbia...Ireland....Gabby .............Weimann
  17. Does make me laugh that being positive is seen as such a negative thing within the Villa faithful. We're like the school equivalent of the chess club at the moment, while the misery arses stand around in the bike shed in their leather jackets, looking all cool, sharing a Silk Cut menthol between them. Swoon!
  18. Cheers for the report Rob! Was Ireland playing in the middle of the 3 in a 4-2-3-1??
  19. Aren't you bored yet? I know I am. Ditto
  20. There's a distinct smell of pissy knickers on the forums tonight! You'd have thought we'd announced a really unpopular managerial appointment. Has Ian Huntley got the job with Josef Fritzel as his assistant?
