  1. The fact that this film is allegedly set in the same universe as Blade Runner does make me chuckle. Saw Tokyo Gore Police at the ICA some months ago, bizarre to the point where it was in equal measure hilarious and utterly terrifying but definately recommended.
  2. Absolutely gutted. The referee was utterly atrocious, but so were we in the final third. It was like watching England under Sven, we just sat back and waited for the inevitable to happen. Positives: Petrov and Milner, for the periods we actually had possession they were pulling all the strings and probing for the openings. So calm and assured on the ball. Petrov really does have such a nice touch as well. The back-line, albeit for three poor errors (one of which cost us dearly) coped well under the pressure. I feel so bad for Dunne, because the cock-up aside, he had a blinder. Negatives: I have tried and tried (and then tried some more) to understand what Heskey actually brings to our game. When he's trying to hold the ball up he goes over too easily, he very rarely gets into threatening positions and when he does the finishing is hit and miss. Granted, he gets his head to the ball more often then not but there's nobody picking up the flick-ons. It's leaving Gabby too isolated up front. Ashley Young's forgotten how to cross. He just can't do it. Every match I've seen this season, his deliveries have made Aaron Lennon look like a genius. He's picked up a bit of confidence in the last couple of weeks but he's still going to ground too quickly for my money. Cuellar at right-back. Fair play to Carlos, he's at least doing a passable job there. He got caught out twice by pace, but it's going forward that we suffer as the overlap and delivery isn't there. It's a b'stard of a decision choosing between Collins and Cuellar in the centre (Carlos edges it for me, only just mind), but it's a decision that needs to be taken as we need Luke Young/a natural right-back on the pitch. Ultimately, we were undone by the combination of a brilliant goal, a calamitous error, a referee who's on the take and poor, poor attacking play. We paid United too much respect, and didn't deserve to win the cup. All that said, I'm looking forward to watching us lift the FA Cup instead. 8)
  3. David Hayter (aka the voice of Solid Snake) co-wrote the screenplay to Watchmen.

  5. I haven't watched Avatar... all the Ferngully comparisons have put me off a bit; how can ANY film compare to Ferngully? Sheer cinematic gold. Though I think I missed the point somewhat when watching the film, as I was always rooting for the giant-singing-toxic-cloud-Tim-Curry-thingy.
  6. From that list, Watchmen. Otherwise, Drag Me To Hell or Pandorum.

  8. James Milner has seen things Roy Batty wouldn't believe. James Milner doesn't think they should take off and nuke the entire site from orbit, he just wants to go in and kill them all hand-to-hand... just to be sure. James Milner hunts Predators for sport. James Milner is the other thing that can destroy Unicron. James Milner can calculate Pi to infinite decimal places.
  9. Although my initial reaction on seeing the result (bearing in mind I didn't watch the game) was along the lines of "Christ, we can beat Chelsea and Liverpool and can't beat Burnley?", after reading 11 pages of how bad we allegedly were, I'm looking at it like this; solid point away from home at a tough place to get a result, whilst playing like toss. We can't win every game folks, as frustrating as it is to play badly at least we seem to get something from games when we do.

    FIFA 10

Really hope they scan more official goalkeeper kits in. Surely it wouldn't even be that much work, as a lot of the templates will be indentical between clubs with, say, nike kits. Programmers could create the one template, then import it to all relevant clubs and simply add on the badges/sponsors as seperate graphics for the teams in question. Bish, bash, bosh.* Manager Mode has had a complete overhaul and from what I've read is shaping up to be something quite special indeed. Hopefully, if they're sticking with the faux "Andrei Murghu" moniker again they will at least put in the option to modify existing player's names. *-speaking as someone with zero knowledge of computing, please feel free to point out that I am very, very wrong and silly for having such grandiose dreams.
