  1. Your “at least” comment shows a generosity of spirit that I don’t have, @Keyblade.
  2. Absolute gem of a player. Absolute whoppers singing that sh*te.
  3. Ahhhh, Put the pink robots album towards the back, where it belongs #OCD
  4. Generally, any photo, whether in the twitter app, or on safari or another app, you can touch and hold and then save to photos, for adding to VT from there, as well.
  5. It’s super easy on an iPad Chris. step 1 touch and hold the picture and a dialogue appears, “share via”. then select the one you want to do, in your case “save file” or save photo or whatever
  6. Definitely. It's not just a case of two blokes agreeing down the pub to come to an acceptable arrangement over a lodger leaving their digs, or whatever. Leaving the EU and the ensuing terms and conditions on an immense range of incredibly detailed arrangements, agreements, treaties, terms and conditions has to be, by definition, also incredibly detailed with every conceivable option or arising covered off.
  7. No. We know from windrush etc how despicable the government and home office have been and are. But that’s a different point altogether. Peter said “when her refugee parents fled to the UK, they may have been turned away, been killed”. Wanting to end free movement isn’t the same as wanting to reject refugees, leading to them being killed.
  8. Not really. Immigrants and refugees are not the same thing.
  9. It was a charity thing where famous(ish) people read out publicly released letters for the audience. Some of the letters of note are excellent -showing the private kindness or humour of public figures.
  10. Firstly, yes, social media, IMO is one of the major factors in the sh*tstorm of fake news, false stories and the like that are affecting the country (and others) generally. Both because of 'normal' people falling for, or starting stuff and more worryingly because of organised disinformation and lie spreading by nations, by anonymous lobbyists and so on. On VT, I've not noticed it to any extent, and not seen what you say about a "punch up and arrest", but assuming you're accurate, then yes, it would be part of the problem.
  11. Sort of related, but of no modern relevance, when the Independent Newspaper originally launched back in the 80s, one of it's stances was as per the tweet - No unattributed "sources say". stories, no anonymous briefing stories at all. Another was no Royal family coverage. It was all the better for it. Now, the media is fuller than ever of all kinds of utter tripe planted by various parties for entirely their own narrow interests and not actually News (or true) at all.
  12. That's so wrong (IMO). And also cause and effect. If a smaller club wants to survive there (say after promotion from League 1) then they're not going to do so through finance, they need long term building. If a mid table club wants to get into the play-offs, then they need to do like, say Preston and build a side over a few seasons. If a relegated club wants to go back up, then if they were a mess (e.g. Villa) then they need a manger who can recover the mess AND be capable of premier league management. The notion of "appoint a promotion specialist like Warnock or Bruce or Pulis to get you straight back up" is gone, now, happily I think.
  13. Sure we don't have a formal deputy. I mentioned "or de facto deputy"- yesterday Raab (Gulp) stood in at the Question thing with Abbott. I guess the thing is if there's either a PM, or de facto deputy, then he/she would have to hand over the request, and if there's no "reponsible PM/deputising person, then Parliament sends Sir Tufton Fortesque-Smyth*, a senior civil servant (or someone else) to hand over the request. *pronounced "Beryl Collins"
  14. Snowy posted details of how it works, I think - ages ago (or it seems like it). What I'm trying to put across is that He's PM until he's no longer pm, and that exact point coincides with a different person becoming pm/responsible - i.e. at no point are we actually lacking a person who could hand over the request for an extension. If he were to resign "with immediate effect" or just walk out, or jump under a big red bus with some writing on it, his deputy (or de facto deputy) would then be the person responsible. Gulp. And if, somehow, not then parliament /the law would instruct/require a senior representative to hand over the request.
  15. If he’s not, then somebody else will become pm and will go and ask for the extension.
  16. I do try and ration my use of the wo....damn. More seriously, maybe I am foolish to think that there's a rational element to all this and certainly much of their words (less so behaviour) suggests I am foolish, but still... My thinking goes along the basis of what is in their own narrow self interest. Sure you can say "hedge funds", but notwithstanding that, "no deal" isn't "no deal". No deal doesn't mean no deal, as someone didn't say. It just makes it much harder to do the next bit, which will be more difficult anyway. And on top of that, if he does get a deal through, he's home and hosed. He'll do an election and win it (or do as well as it is possible for such a fustercluck of a leader and party to do. it'll kill off the NF business (for a while at least) and he'll get their votes back. Labour's a complete mess, with a leader who is even less trusted than Johnson and the Lib Dem remain people will have had their goose cooked. If he doesn't get an election/Brexit is stopped (for a while), he's toast, as are the hardline tories and as May was under the same situation. And on top of all that, no deal will bring multiple national calamities as all the yellowhammer stuff makes clear, and again, the law currently prohibits it, in effect. He has to get a deal, for his own ego, for his own prospects. But yeah, the things they are saying are just irrational and utterly ridiculous.
  17. The problem with the crazed tipex addicts is that they cover up their wrongdoing really well.
  18. Roy Keane was on Sky on monday for the Manchester Prawns v Arsenal Shandies game and he was pretty good I thought.
  19. Me either till I googled it after typing. I saw a TV thing yonks ago about these people putting up and servicing and maintaining wind farms in the ogin of the NW coast, and it mentioned Denmark as a leader in the manufacture - I think these ones on the telly were Danish made, and they said some stuff about China, America etc.
  20. Not sure that's true. We could have been, but y'know. Tories. Most of the main companies are Chinese, American, German and Danish, I think edit - Google sez you're right. But the companies ar mostly foreign.
  21. Obviously I don't trust him. . yes, I think they'll "try to find a way round" the law. But the point is that "No deal is the plan" can't be the plan, because "No Deal" as an objective isn't viable. A plan needs to have a viable objective. That's where they're lacking (well that amongst many areas). An objective which is extremely probable to be not possible can't be part, rationally, of any end plan. Now it could be a plan to pretend to want no deal, whilst knowing that is impossible - so that they can then say "look, we tried to leave when we promised, but the courts/Lib Dems/SNP/Labour/EU/whoever stopped us - blame them" when what they actually want is an excuse for their mess. I think it goes like this - initial plan for Johnson is/was get a revision to the May deal and get that through parliament, using coercion of sorts on MPs and on the EU If that fails, devise a way to blame everyone/anyone else for not doing what he promised - and that's this "no deal" bollex. I think they're reaching the end point of their f***ery, now.
  22. I'm not arguing with the sentiment, really. But it's absolutely not the "plan", or indeed any plan. Reason being that even if they think there's a way around the law requiring him to ask for an extension if there's no deal by mid October, that (way round) is likely to be subjected to court proceedings. You can't have a "plan" which is for no deal, when no deal is basically not an option.
