Why dont we make all stewards wear identification numbers so that fans can report specific stewards that are clearly not following the rules they are there to enforce? Obviously we would get the odd problem of a sour fan that got correctly ejected but if one steward got complaints from a number of people complaining about the same thing then you would know it was true and needed following up.

I'm sorry General but you seem to have missed my questions? Why is the selection of giftware in the new high st shop so very poor? There is very little(in fact nothing) in terms of bed linen/ key chains/ wallets etc etc! I wasted an afternoon taking my son up with the sole reason to treating him to something out of the brand spanking new shop? This sounds like Im saying they didn't have what 'I' wanted, but I actually mean they had virtually NOTHING! Literally all there was the home kit,the retro shirts and the a bin of over priced non Villa Nike footballs! Why does it not have changing rooms? Why has it not got a lift for disabled people or parents with pushchairs? Why can a Newcastle Chairman owned chain of shops sell the new kit at 30% less the official AVFC source and include fitting rooms and actually have stock of other lines(Training tops and polo shirts in various colours) when the official AVFC shop can't? Why has free shirt printing been taken away from season ticket holders privileges, now making a new higher price shirt even less value for money? I thought Season ticket holders were going to get lots of extras this season after everybody complained about all the budget/discounted ticketing last season yet already one privilege has already been removed?

General, Woke up today full of misery from the result yesterday, so to cheer me and the family up we decided to go into Birmingham including my six year old purely to check out the new shop and treat my six year old to a spanking new Villa ball as a treat for him doing well in a football tournament yesterday and for him choose his new crested bedroom linen for his birthday. Got there and thought how fantastic the new location is and how impressive it looks from the outside. However it was a completely different feeling once I got inside and left us feeling let down and like we had wasted our day going there! It's fine so long as you want to over pay for a new kit but don't want to try it on! Where on earth is all the giftware stock? Why is there nothing to buy such as bed linen/ villa footballs/ keychains etc. It was very very poor in terms of selection. Why is there not a fitting room to try merchandise on? Your going to loose a ton of sales when you have a high st chain 5 mins away selling the same kit 30% cheaper that has somewhere to actually try the products on! Also why is there no lift facility for disabled people or parent with pushchairs? I saw one man walk out in disgust because he couldn't climb the staircase? This shop is ideal for promotional purposes but until you get a manager/ stock control system your pouring money down the drain. The old shop and Villa village carried a lot more selection why is this new outlet so lacking? Also why has free shirt printing for season ticket holders been stealthly taken away this year? Making the new higher cost of the shirt even less value for money from the official Villa outlet?

Somebody beat me to it however I think this problem is far more serious than you have made out. I sat in my stationary car in a queue of traffic for a ridiculous one hour last night to get off the leisure centre car park. This is a disgrace in terms of organisation. We pay good money to support Villa and get charged an extortionate £6 to park for a short period in this place with very little coordination to get people out quickly and safely. On top of this there was a large fight between away fans on a coach and Villa fans in the social club that was caused partly by the gridlocked traffic allowing the confrontation to escalate.

Any info on if this will be available to overseas fans, ie: for sale in time for the shop to ship it over here? The New York and Chicago fan clubs are going to Columbus and it would be nice if we could get our hands on shirts to wear. We'll be sure to contact the people at the club shop directly but if you have any info I'd love to know or put a word in with them to consider us if you get the chance. Cheers General. General, It might be a nice touch to provide these long distance fans with these shirts for free? They can't cost that much to produce and it would show the clubs appriciation for their amazing support from such a long distance? Maybe take a batch out with you and have a player present them with the shirt before the game. Be a nice photo shoot for the media

I can second this. Went in at the weekend and it really is poor! Service was also terrible. I wanted a new car air freshener with the new crest and was amazed that even though they were on display they were out of stock of them already! The place looks like a discount closing down sale! Please, please, please sort the gift buying and staff training out in this place as it makes us look really second rate!

I personally think that at the end of the transfer window a lot of people are going to be disappointed with who we've bought. However I do believe at the end of the season MON will of done us us proud with his buys. People are getting excited were going to be signing BIG names but I don't think we will. The only evidence we have is the General saying we will be buying 'world class' players. Lets face it as much as I love what the General is doing and I am really happy at how the club is going, the General probably couldn't name 5 world class players that we could realistically sign if he was put on the spot. Sure he now loves Aston Villa and wants us to do well and is a great media spokesman but at the moment it is all spin. I personally think the links with players like Kightly, McShane etc. are far more likely with maybe the biggest signings being the like of NRC and Bellemy. Don't get me wrong I truly think these players will take us to the next level under MON but there hardly what we would call 'world class' I hope I'm wrong and we do see some really exciting signings, but my gut feeling says we won't.

For the record I agree with the VILLA bit instead of my AVFC howerver I think the beating Blues to a pulp bit is wrong. Firstly I can't see the club printing any songsheet that advocates fighting with our local rivals and secondly we need to stop paying them any attention. Hi General, I know you are looking at improving the Villa Shop but as a a father of a 6 year old Villa fan and somebody that works in the licensed gift industry is it possible to pass some suggestions onto your buying team to get some decent products into the shop rather than the usual tat found in there? I regularly go in the shop with money burning a hole in my pocket to buy Villa merchandise for myself and my son yet usually walk out empty handed due to the lack of decent product on sale. Here's some of my suggestions that come from somebody with 19 years experience in this market place. The secret in the kids gift market is to keep the price point down to an impulse buy. Something they can buy with their pocket money or something a parent will buy to keep them quiet or even better they'd want themselves so they buy it using the kids as an excuse. Throw in collectability and you keep them coming back for more! Villa Trading Cards (Sealed packs of 6 cards rrp £1.50 every player that's ever played for us/ every cup we've won/ every kit/ every crest etc) Villa Top Trumps(rrp 4.99) Villa cardboard Subbuteo players (These come in sealed packs like the trading cards) Villa beanie mini plush (rrp 5.95 do them Bella and Hercules in different kits and release them in phases in counter top cases. Just imagine how a 6" plush of Hercules in the 82 cup winning kit would sell!) A decent Poster range presented in a proper poster rack. (rrp 3.99) Magnet Sheets (rrp 2.99) Sticker Sheets/Books (rrp 2.99) I could keep going and going! Most of these suggestions are cheap produce and have high margins in them. The beauty of them is that they are easy to keep changing the range so us parents keep coming back to get the next range/image. They are the sort of lines that most parents would end up buying something every visit to villa park/shop, especially the trading cards.
