I'm sure I watch another game in a parallel universe! I really,really want Angel to find form again, I like him and the season before last he added some really magic to our games which made him my 4 year olds favourite player and its hard explaing to him how crap he is now. but that description is so far from the Angel I watched on Saturday it's amazing!

Angel just behind and a playmaker! Maybe for the other team. All Ive seen him do recently is give stupid fouls away and pass backwards. Tapping the ball out wide for a good cross once in the last game does not make you a playmaker!

Its obvious most of us feel we need a CB and it looks like DOL is looking for one. I was just wondering what standard everbody felt we should be looking for. Should we be replacing on of our current first choices and if so who or just a squad player better than we have to offer better competition?

Anyone that questions this should stick the Liverpool game on telly now on. Look at Baros's assist for the second goal and his finishing for the the third and then try and tell me that Vassell would of managed either. Problem is that the fact he is playing probably means we aint getting him.

The poll is a bit simplyfied however I'd rather keep him, BUT if getting Baros(or another decent striker) and Distin meant we would lose Vassell I would say go for it. Saying that I would rather keep Vass AND get Baros(or another decent striker) and Distin, but if we dont get another striker and only get Distin then no we need Vass. Those people slating Baros must be mad! I think he was Liverpools top scorer last season and was top scorer in Euro 2004. He seemed to have a lot of probs last season but who in our team do you honestly think would have a chance of winning top scorer in the Euros? If we get him I think our first choice partnership will be Baros and Phillips.

I wish you had. Didnt want to turn this into an episode of Trisha, I just wondered who people thought was the weakest link. I didn't want a 'many' dimensional discussion about the management or an anti Ellis stance. I just wondered out of the starting players in our squad who people thought was the weakest link. 'no more, no less', you know like a whats your favourite colour type question. Next time I won't bother asking unless it's a question that can only be answered with a small essay.

I didn't say that he was, I just made a list of the main squad and left out 3 players (because I had to due poll restrictions) that in my basic knowledge of the sport, doubt any Villa supporter would ever say was the weakest link. HOWEVER I did also post that if you felt somebody not in the list deserved it to post their name up. As for making scapegoats, I haven't even voted yet! It was a question not a comment and I posted every player except three! Am I making scapegoats of them all ffs? Because it's very unlikly that anyone with exception of possibly you would pick Mellberg, McCann or Angel as the weakest link and I can only put 10 options. Please try and read the question: Who is the weakest link NOT who made 2 mistakes while holding a makeshift defence together this season. As for naming the usual scapegoats there 10 players names there for ffs not 3!

I think I'd agree there Glasgow. Our whole midfield apart from possibly McCann(who I think has recently found his form again) is below par for the top 6 of the premiership. They would make a fantastic bench but not a starting 11. people say we need a creative midfielder but we really need 3 midfielders who can actually win a basic 50-50 ball more than 10% of the time AND complete basic passes consistantly.

Im interested to know with how badly were playing, who people think is the weakest link in our main squad? (Ive left out the players that are obviously not as I cant have that many options, but if you feel your player wasnt included post it up)

I think the Beattie drama is still ongoing and changing everyday so it could go either way. Beattie may push harder to move depending on the manager and team morale, we may up the bid. I really don't think anyone knows. personally I don't think it is goint to happen. That said it'll Beattie or no one so in a longwinded answer I'm saying no!
