  1. Who says he wants to sell, Ellis the man who is lies and smoke screens personified. If you think back to the positions his last CEO put the club in and his severe illness since, the portfolio selling the club is a genuine attempt to find investment not necessarily Of course, other will evaluate the deals on offer and summarise for him. Problem is if the portfolio has valued Villa's assets at a figure that do not represent their true and actual and Ellis will not budge from the valuation were do they go.
  2. I'd speculate the problem Villa have is that Ellis is back in decent health and having rid the club of any dissentor he is the man calling the tune over any takeover. The Villa generated a portfolio presentaion to present to prospective purchasers whihc was passed around over 12 month ago. What has happened since is that several potential investors have 'tested' the portfolio and found it wanting (read a load of unsubstantiated lies) Several such have told the club they will invest and buy various volumes of shares but although some past board members have accepted in principle those who own the major shareholding have for their own reasons declined to negotiate beyond the original portfolio I'm guessing the Cromers initially bid based on the portfolio, found it wanting fairly quickly and limited their offer. Someone within their group then found the extra funding from elsewhere, but found even with their Ellis orientated offer that the chairman again found objections to the offer to suit his own purposes, whatever they are. It is possible that if someone did offer the full portfolio requirement Ellis would have to agree, although again some would suggest he'd find a way out of even that. He has no intention of selling in my opinion, even if the ridiculous portfolio price is met, whether those that can force him to regardless will I personally doubt. !00% for their effort and persistence in my opinion they have certainly lasted much longer than most and still I believe wish to takeover.
  3. Which I think Ellis was forced to make clear. His prevarification could be ruining the club, he's forced O'leary to cut costs and spend little to make the plc a more viable proposition. Again the club suffers for the old mans benefit. Would 3 mill for a top CB make so much difference? Ellis obviously thinks so
  4. Which is why I voted no. To be honest Iain, this poll just seems like another tool to be used in the old 'I told you so' wars. Malcolm would be proud...... Why would I be proud DDID, there's still 20 odd games left.
  5. Judging by O'leary's comments on Sky just, it would seem the takeover looks well advanced and not affecting the players or himself Neither is the demand for that superb player DLC although it does seem despite reports he isn't part of the notorious dressing room unrest, he just wants away to get first team football. Wish Ellis did
  6. Perhaps Richard could comment but I'd suggest its difficult enought to show you have funding for a 1.5 million takeover, especially if you have financed some of it with 'other' money To do a deal with Ellis must be a nightmare, to keep him happy a miracle that alone makes it a sterling performance
  7. I'm confident the only factor holding up the takeover by the Comers is Ellis trying to edge his bets in the hope the Russians, Norwegians and other UK based groups finally put in offers more liking to his proposals. As usual there's always the chance they might be transferred to another club as often happens. The day the Comers come out from their hiding place and comment is the day we'll all know one way or the other.
  8. Well I've been waiting for someone to put a negative view on the news, and at long last someone has. On the Villa list someone reckons Five Live have a different slight on the deal suggesting that the deal may go down because the Comers want to complete by the New Year and might be scuppered if its not. That's better all we need now is a demotivating and negative comment from O'leary about the troubles in the dressing room and everyone will be happy
  9. Phillips 1 match 1 injury Angel 40+ matches no goals Moore 15 matches 1 goal Buy Ashcroft and play him up front with Baros. On present form and company Baros is a needed buy, but I can't see why DOL wanted him so badly, as he doesn't offer much more than a fit on form Angel. Hang on maybe I do see why he needs Baros. His style of play offers so much compared to what we have simply because he takes on defenders on the ground or in the air. as did Vassell. Unlike Vassell his success ratio is higher but his commitment level has always been questionable, obviously something O'leary doen't feel concerned about, thanks to Berger perhaps. I wish him well, but I'd personally have preferred Parker if 6.5 was all we had to spend. If not
  10. Before we sold Vassell no, even though he only scored 3 goals a season, now we have yes we need him desperately because Angel's lost it and Phillips looks to be unable to perform for 40 games non stop, one is his limit so far. Where I am amazed is that he who does not get involved in transfers wouldn't sanction a 6.0 million bid for Parker, who looked the only one able for Newcastle at the weekend and a player who would have been of much more use to us Still there is plenty of time for those other players aren't there.

  12. Laursen, despite his Milan pedigree, is the weak link, his injured knee alone makes his chances of being fully fit unlikely, and a full season impossible. I'd piss on the Blues and try for Upson.
  13. I expect at least 2 perhaps 3 and with luck 4 now and 2 more in January.
  14. I'm sure most will go for Brian Little for obvios reasons, but a Premiership manager he's not. O'leary for me which will surprise some, although BFR was a close second.
  15. would play 352 just to have McNaught, Evans and God :-) would you fancy playing those 3 I'd swap my zimmer frame for the chance
  16. McNaught was my choice, led from the front, great header of the ball, reliable and ideal with McGrath as the sweeper. In his absence Southgate wins can't see the fuss over Mellberg, not in Southgates class
  17. Too early to say, plenty can happen before the transfer window closes, isn't that right Richard
  18. He'd be a good replacement and improvement if Vassell left.
  19. Of all the players in the squad he's the one whose performance, long and short term, is solely down to his own mental attitude. He's due a killer season, but as with everything Lee Hendrie, that probably means he's due a stinker. Potential and probably, are two words that can easily be used with most of our players this season, but Lee Hendrie remains the biggest probable with the most potential of them all, perhaps Gareth Barry could run him close in the potential stakes. As one of his biggest defenders here and elsewhere I happen to feel this could be his make or break season. Sadly, unlike Barry, I have real doubts about his ability to seize the moment.
  20. It amazes me people still get amazed. The club has systematically worked to lower the ambition of the fan base for years and as any day on here shows, many have swallowed it hook line and sinker. Still when those two new players join within the next few weeks we'll all have to admit how wrong we were to disbelieve the rhetoric.
  21. Has he signed then? Seems a bit premature to criticise him until he's at least signed even though I hear the bookies have closed the book on him with Villa as favourites. All that means is he's agreed to join someone and I'd have thought we were just one in the frame with, unless O'leary pulls of a coup, I'd have said two better alternatives, Europe and such. As Andy Gray has just said, we need DOL to bring in a star quality player, at 5 mill, no matter what his wage, or signing on fee Bellamy is a brilliantly cheap option. He's also a player around whom O'leary could build a team for the long term. I'm praying for the coup.
  22. Why? Baros has speed, is a harrier in style, not a target man, and rarely gets involved with aggressive defences. Not too disimilar from Vassel and/or Angel really. Viduka on the other hand is a fetcher and carrier, a target man, a shot taker and a bustler. Do we have anything like that, I don't think so. I said last year we should have beaten Boro to his signature, he's like Barry, underated by his own fans, yet highly rated by most coaches.
  23. Can't see it because when the transfers start really rolling, he'll have better options, and I'm not sure he's really what O'Leary wants. Mind you if he costs next to nowt and O'leary still has the money left to spend on someone decent, I could be wrong.
  24. Seems the mail reckon Distins deal is a done one except Man City won't let him go until they have enough money for a replacement and to get that they bneed Chelsea to cough up silly money for Wright Phillips.
  25. Oleary in praising player shock. I thought he wasn't supposed to do this. Mind you its questionable whether he's being serious In days gone bye he'd have been a decent bet for the left sided playmaker but in todays side, I question whether he'd have enough time on the ball against the better sides and whether his lack of mobility would fit the style now employed. One thing for sure, he's developing well under O'Leary and has most recently added a knack of arriving late in the penalty area effectively. Where are tha BBB's now.
