  1. could it not be a simple case of reading too much into a very simple situation. one bidder keeps promising and failing to deliver one bidder has started promising and may soon deliver one bidder has and said nowt one bidder has and walked away then come back, although I've seen no evidence yet from him one owner is renowned for his brinkmanship
  2. Every manager in the history of football has wanted more money to spend on players. Except Brian Little at Tranmere who fell foul of his board for NOT spending the funds available to him. If Ridsdale couldn't tell DOL "no", then it makes Ridsdale even MORE of an arse in my eyes. there was much more to that than was published too, which is why when he went on record as wanting the Villa job I laughed my head off.
  3. DOL could only spend the money given to him, on players that were sanctioned by the board. When he was sacked they were in the upper echelons. Ignore it its just another one of those attempts to rewrite history, we had plenty when JG left one very large one whch was eventually proved totally false. O'leary bought and sold some huge talent, I wish we had the likes of Ferdinand and a fit Woodcock in our squad now. O'Neills job would be easier as would the need for an owner with plenty of free pennies
  4. where has all the optimism of the last few weeks gone ??? soon you'll all be bemoaning whether or not Ellis is really going to sell. several things are certain, a, Lerner still hasn't committed himself publicly b, Neville is the one committed bidder he says, does anyone believe him c, AV06 are another negotiating via the media not the boardroom d, there are other bidders who have presented their case and said nowt e, Ellis is not too bothered about selling quickly or at all f, O'Leary knew something as did the players at the season start, culminating in his departure g, O'Neill knows something too h, Petchey has yet to have his day, how long will it be before he does i, talk of top six, finish, big money signings, are premature Trouble Villa fans have is that as with all his negotiations the prime mover is into Brinkmanship big time, he doesn't think or act like a modern day businessman or play by their rules or expectation. If he did the club would have been bought at least twice already. the time is quickly approaching where it will be put up or shut up time, nothing is sure, except we are likely even now to get a few surprises. Look out for Petchey, he has yet to play his hand
  5. If they do they could be too late Although I think if they think it necessary Rothschilds will let everyone know what's likely to be happening. It is possible of course they are all waiting until the transfer window closes so as not to fund transfers before they can implement change to finance the funding. No!!
  6. As Blandy has said and others confirmed, it may have been a smokescreen, but he originally not only walked away in disgust he also passed on a few choice words to Ellis which included a demand for an apology from Rothschilds. If he really is back in contention, and I've yet to see solid proof he is, then its only because of Rothschilds efforts.
  7. Why slag off Ranson? Do you know anything about the bid, can you tell me what his plan was, could you give me his offer price, his transfer budget, or even a breakdown of how he was to cover the finance on his bid. Do you have any idea of the people he had backing him, or who the two ex Villa players were as part of the bid ?
  8. When do you think then? At a guess, outside trading hours bloody astute guess that PB
  9. Its not the first time I've seen it said but it is the first time I've seen mention of it in actual print its been in a couple of the nasties before, that's why in general its been ignored. I think its been mentioned on one of the poorer radio progs as well
  10. If he isnt, then IMHO he has an odd way of showing it We will see :winkold: I keep looking for the quotes, I keep looking for the sign Ellis has apologised, I keep hearing suggestion she flew into Luton ??? Luton, then flew back to the US ?? Now AV06's leader is criticised for going on holiday he's a meeting on Tuesday hasn't he Mind you Birmingham Council chiefs had a meeting with some yanks on Friday and Saturday they say
  11. Ok sorry I missed that, 38-39% seems to be the number generally bandied about for Ellis's holding, just thought I'd check (and sorry about the lack of spell checking) don't worry pal it seems to be catching even JC's at it. the old fart will be on soon and heaven help us all your point remains very true though, Ellis doesn't need to sell his majority as long as he's not left with enough to make life awkward by doing a deal with Petchey. Mind you I can't see anyone of the big 4 not going for the full whack and taking us away from being a plc. that's where Neville again seems to be failing but you never know with Ellis anything is possible
  12. No Mike he hasn't borrowed from anyone yet, but the simple fact he needs to is the worrying part of his bid all along and yes he does have an in principle deal with Petchey its often been suggested. In many respects he's done well, but as you more than most know, all is not as Neville would like it to seem For me such situations are always fraught with last minute hickups and delays and changes, usually the quiet ones are so becuase they ahve the best credentials and can sit and wait until its all posted and then outbid. Stills bid remains the quiet one, Lerner remains the questionable one, is he really still interested, AV06 the maybe bid, his holiday could be a good stalling tactic, as his bid was always the late in the day one, Nevilles as I keep saying was always the joe the promiser bid, albeit the one most likely and it would seem, most desired by Ellis
  13. ^^^^ been a while since that has been produced, nicely done apart from the spellchecking. hasn't Ellis talked about selling the club though and not just his shares. it nicely explains Neville's position though apart from the deal he's supposed to have to borrow off Petchey to supposedly buy Petchey's shares. Very convoluted
  14. well much earlier than I expected JC, much earlier, hope you are right.
  15. very correct they have. trouble is when were Villa seriously contending for anything in the Premiership, and has that anything to do with the takeover. He's appointed O'Neil, and so far we have drawn 1 away game against a German 1st division side, didn't he do well, as wellas the other 13 appointments he eventually removed ?? His fiscality has worked only if he sells and Villa aren't relegated, O'Neils good, the squads not bad, but Ellis is still in charge
  16. We reapplied a couple of months back didn't we? (North Stand anyway) If I remember correctly Trotsky it was you who posted this As you have to to keep it going. As Ellis has just said those he's been talking to aren't in the Abromovich class but most are big boys One of them has a complete package to reinvent the whole ground and to have the player on the pitch to fill it so it will happen, when is the question and my bet is within the next week or two, and it won't necessarily be Lerner.
  17. not necessarily its now assumed should Petchey say yes then there are enough potntial votes for Ellis to lose. its also been suggested his aprlour tricks with Lerner and now O'Neil may be moves to call the bluff. I doubt it mind I still feel he is up to selling at least a controlling interest, trouble is the best bet for the club possibly, doesn't want him involved rightly so
  18. could be its part of a superb package put forward by one of the longer standing bidders of course and he's just picking ideas from provisional planning permission Villa have since Bendalls days Probably not
  19. First no bids are in Second Lerner has not said he is still interested to make a further modification to his original bid Third only Still has finalised his discussions and even he has not tabled a formal bid Fourth AV06 are looking to meet Ellis on Tuesday to discuss their offer and then meet with Neville to see if there is any mileage in a bid merger, but no formal bid has been put in Fifth only Neville has talked of being in a position to offer a 64 million bid, he hasn't in 2 weeks, why not. Could it be he doesn't meet the full criteria or is his finance options flaky. Lastly, one man has instigated the move for O'Neil, Neville, who made it clear to some of us ages ago he had spoken to him and he had agreed to be part of the package as had another famous man He may not have signed the contract but he made the idea possible and as O'Neil said Ellis was the only one who asked, probably to gazump Neville. After all Ellis has never been short on pinching good ideas and claiming the credit.
  20. oh my god they still live on
  21. Lets hope he keeps it after a few days of Dougs company.
  22. Sky have a bloke who looks like O'Neil talking merrily to an old codger and a pretty blonde, does that mean Souness won't be the one after all
  23. you've got nothing to worry about then if it happens Doug won't be signing the contract, allegedly
  24. was there anyone who suggested it wasn't cut and dried ???? ellis remains everyones problems and the reason is in the interviews above
  25. I think all those matters and the most up to date accounts are part of the presentation package and weekly updates or available updates if requested.
