  1. It's a 2 hour drive from Split to Mostar, but transport is 13hours! Flying to Dubrovnik could be another option though and getting a train from there. A coach would be even better!
  2. I’ve attached a link: https://www.rome2rio.com/map/Birmingham-Airport-BHX/Mostar It maybe useful for the fans heading to Mostar to have a look at the link I’ve attached. Edit: I’ve just looked again. It seems that Wizz Air fly from Luton to Sarajevo. And then fans get a train from Sarajevo train station to Mostar. Unfortunately the journey would take 3hrs30mins to get from Sarajevo to Mostar by train. Not ideal for fans but that could be the only way to get there I’m afraid.
  3. It's the same for me too! I'm in the Trinity Upper and I'm literally on the 1st train back. Well, I think we need to watch this space, it may take a few years to come whether or not if they do decide to go ahead with the whole redevelopment. If I was at West Midlands trains right now, I would definitely have at least 15 carriages on match days/nights. 15 carriages covers the whole platform and this should make it easier for the fans to get on the train and have more space. In the past, I remember getting on trains and there's only been 5-8 carriages and that's not enough.
  4. I leave at around 82-85 minutes to get back to Witton Station. Quite frankly enough, I caught the train from Witton to Walsall on a match night. It was packed up until Tame Bridge Parkway. I went to Walsall and it was still quite busy but not packed. But isn't there going to be an investment at Witton and Aston? Didn't it get mentioned to do with our stadium expansion plan?
  5. I've always found that Witton has more trains calling there rather than Aston. I've always found Witton a rubbish station but I only care about getting to/from New Street to Witton. I find Witton more convenient. In the past, there has been some football special trains from New Street that don't call at Duddeston and Aston. Your straight to Witton inside 6-8 mins if it doesn't call at the two stations I've just mentioned. If I were you, I'd recommend just going to Witton purely because it's closer to the ground and it's a 5 minute walk. It's only a recommendation but it's your choice.
  6. Yes totally, it would've made sense that Legia could've got the fan coaches from Birmingham City Centre. I got the train (around 3pm) from New Street to Perry Barr and yet again this morning. I was looking out of the train window when I stopped at Witton this morning and it looked clear. I certainly ruined my enjoyment of course but was good when the Warsaw broke into the North Stand lower, our fans were well behaved and didn't intervene. Where they broke in, that's near the family stand and for kids to see that is not great! For AZ's sake I hope they stuff Legia. Didn't Mostar get organised fan coaches to/from Villa Park?
  7. I agree, I think UEFA need to do something with them and in my view too, I think they need to be thrown out.
  8. I had to walk through the Warsaw fans on the way to the ground. There was a whole bunch of them by Tesco and on the way back too. I managed to get back to Perry Barr Traveldoge safely but I do hope those get back from Villa Park ok.
  9. Once I left on 77 mins due to limited trains, it was annoying. Answering your question, I probably assume so hence why Witton is closer to the away end and the stadium itself. I use Witton too but tonight I’m staying in a hotel not far from the ground. I may be wrong but I might probably think with European games, the away fans might have organised transport for them. So, Legia Warsaw fans might have to wait for us to leave first then they go after us. Anyone, do correct me if I’m wrong.
  10. I may take my torch just to be on the safe side. I main question is: why is this all happening against Legia? Have they got a nasty set of fans?
  11. In that case, I will leave the game on 85mins so I can avoid this. Last time this happened against AZ, we were all waddling like penguins exiting by the club shop. There was no lighting so nobody could see where they were going.

    Tickets

We can't we even sell out the Doug Ellis Upper above the Fulham fans. No wonder why our lot were chanting empty seats.
  13. If we did that against Alkmaar last night, we will probably do it again v Legia Warsaw. In all honesty, are the Warsaw fans that bad?
  14. No wonder why everyone was suddenly crammed in walking past the club shop where the burger vans were. We were all waddling like penguins!
  15. I thought we did play well in the end and a good win to stay 2nd in Group E. What was the reason behind the security restrictions down Witton Lane? Does anyone know?
  16. In case you are wondering, as well as I’m an Aston Villa fan, but I’m always a Aldershot fan too because Aldershot are my local team. I couldn’t go yesterday due to work. I was struggling to get the game on BBC Surrey because my understanding is BBC Local Radio stations have to pay the FA a fee to broadcast games and BBC Surrey haven’t got the budget. For those interested what time the FA Cup 2nd round draw, it is at 2.30pm on ITV1.
  17. He may still be doing freelance work.
  18. Does anyone know what Jack Woodwards doing now? He’s not been on VillaTV for a while.
  19. I remember I went into The Square Peg Wetherspoons near New Street. Wasn’t a bad pub in my opinion but if you were really looking for somewhere to eat then I would probably recommend you go into New Street Station and find an eatery in there.
  20. My 1st ever Europe game and it ends with a McGinn header! Villa Park was buzzing, absolutely buzzing! Give credit Mostar, they did turn up and defended brilliantly. But I think I could tell around 75-80 minutes, their players were trying their best to keep up with us. Well, Legia Warsaw and Alkmaar, bring it on.
  21. I agree with this - we are playing a nothing club, although Zrinjski Mostar came from 3 down against AZ to win 4-3. I’m interested to see what fans they bring, maybe UK based one’s probably. And if they do get fans that fly from Bosnia, it wouldn’t surprise me if they make a 2 or 3 day city break in Birmingham. For myself, I’m looking forward to this as this is my first ever time watching us in a Europe competition. However, I am disappointed about how our tickets are selling for this, so I would expect at least 35k or less I’m afraid.
  22. This affects me just because I only go up to Villa by train from Surrey. However, I will go and watch my local team (Aldershot Town) as I can’t get up to Villa.
