Maybe I am seeing patterns where they don't exist, but when 'freak' occurances happen often enough they become a pattern. Isn't the point of the sport science side of the medical department to look at player work loads and adjust accordingly to reduce injury risk? I would hate to think what our injury list would look like if this is the system working.

Honestly, the fact that an injury like this seems to happen to us every season makes me really question what the hell our medical department is doing.

The only relevant question about a backup keeper is this: Does the prospect of said keeper playing a stretch of games fill you with dread? If yes, you need a new keeper. I don't think anyone here is ok with the idea of Olsen having to play a string of games if Emi is out of action.

Thanks to everyone who has provided some insight on this. Seems like there isn't really a clearly better choice( from a non football point of view anyway) but I must say from the descriptions the Birmingham vibes kind of sound like Adelaide when I'm from, which is a big plus. Will keep you updated if a move eventuates. UTV

Hi All, Through my work I may get an opportunity to study in the UK for 12 months. There are 2 similar courses I am interested in, one is through University of Birmingham and the other through the University of Manchester. While Birmingham obviously grabbed my attention as a Villa fan, I wanted to get a feel for the reputation of both universities from people in country and anything else worth knowing, as far as living in each city, to help the decision making process. Given the stage of his career I can't see him asking for 6 figures per week, I guarantee he is realistic about how much he is worth, plus he is really the only one on the team who is fluent in the dark arts on the pitch, so I wouldn't be worried about paying overs for another season

The only reason I would be ok with this is if Ash has told the club he wants guaranteed first team football next season, which you would hope we would not be in a position to guarantee. Any other reason for not renewing his contract doesn't make sense.
