  1. This is a kick in the guts for all teams in the football pyramid, the flow down of money is pitiful as it is, the Premier League teams were very reluctant to allow £30m in emergency funding during the pandemic to be given to smaller clubs which has helped them to remain in existence, which shows they don’t care at all about the lower feeder clubs which are the lifeblood of the game. These so called big 6 have to be kicked out of the Premier League although I don’t think it will happen as the league is run by the Premier Leagues club chairmen. The huge amounts of money being offered to these clubs will give them even more financial clout to remain the most competitive clubs in the league which to me is an unfair advantage. Clubs like Villa, Leicester, Everton will find it even harder to break into the top half of the league or even to barely compete.
  2. Even though we went into the break one up we were very poor, especially in holding onto the ball giving away possession on numerous occasions. Slightly beter in the second half especially after the equaliser but probably got what we deserved. Always a sickener to let a goal in past the 90th minute.
  3. Liverpool were excellent agaist Arsenal and apparently rubbish in Madrid, so hoping that they have one eye on the second leg against Madrid and we stuff em again.
  4. For the majority of the game we were poor creating next to nothing going forward, the substitutions that Dean made changed the game. Well done Trez on two excellent finishes in a long overdue win.
  5. Gifted them both goals tonight, we never looked like scoring.
  6. We managed to get worse as the game went on, if we are going to improve next season we need better players in midfield, the only player that played well tonight was Konsa.
  7. Hoping that the game in Europe for Spurs means Bale is at best on the bench again as he always seems to have a good game at Villa Park, anyway it's about time we put in a decent perfromance so 1-0 win.
  8. Surprised their was any goals in that game, not great from either side. Should have seen the game out so gutted that we only got a point but in reality that is all we deserved. Konsa for me was our best player, his positioning is superb.
  9. I thought that was a great three points, created decent chances in the first half and AEG took his chance well. He could have had another couple and the second half totally snuffed Leeds oiut, Nakamba was brilliant breaking up the play and getting that vital touch in when it mattered.
  10. Lost the game through a woeful first half performance, wasn't surprised to lose today because Leicester are a decent team and are only 7 points behind Man City. Targett stood out for me as our best player but the midfield needs freshening up because they are not performing.
  11. Pretty much every Villa player has improved under Dean Smith, just haven't seen it with Barkley. He has a lot more quality than what he is showing at the moment. Hopefully Morgan will start ahead of him next game.
  12. Hope he starts instead of Barkley next game who offered us very little tonight, showed he has a good touch in his first minute on the pitch tonight.
  13. Happy we took a point from that poor performance, wouldn’t be surprised if Marvellous replaces Dougie again for the next game, Barkley didn’t offer anything and every time we play Brighton our midfield get dominated. One positive is we go above Spurs in the league.
  14. Another top performance, he has definitely improved our team.
  15. Fantastic 3 points, now it is one game a week for a while which is what we need I think as some players are stsrting to look jaded. Mings was colossus today.
  16. Fantastic result and much needed after the West Ham game, the back four were outstanding today especially Mings.
  17. Poor all over the pitch tonight, poor passing, poor control and out battled. West Ham deserved to win and we hardly troubled the Hammers keeper.
  18. Brilliant three points tonight away against a decent team, we got lucky with a couple of big decisions but about time we had a bit of luck. More wins this season than what we got last season, Jack was class again. Wouldn't mind Dean resting John McGinn as he seems a bit off form at the moment.
  19. Gutted we lost because we played some bloody good football at times and should have been out of sight at half time, crap defending which has been pretty rare this season. Can't wait for the day the like of Burnley are relegated for playing long ball tactics.
  20. Welcome Morgan, won't be easy for him to get into the Villa team at the moment.
  21. Worked his socks off again last night down both flanks, never stopped giving his all for the team and deserved the goal.
  22. Don't think we will get an easier three points all season, cruised in second gear for the second half. Traore gets better by the game, nice to watch a game stress free when you know you have three points sown up.
  23. Considering we hadn't played for 3 weeks I thought we were very good, yes City are quality and had a lot more chances but the back 4 were superb. Still gutted and raging about the first goal, hope we take it out on Newcastle.
  24. Incredibly proud of the team tonight, great effort and plenty of skill out there on the pitch. Liverpool paid us the respect they deserved by playing Salah, Mane, Thiago, Milner, Henderson, Oxlade Chamberlain etc. Great finish by Barry and the defenders put everything on the line getting in blocks wherever they could.
