  1. Question for everyone: what’s the best way to get to/from VP? We’re staying right by the Moor Station
  2. Yeah, it’s a big day today
  3. **** it, I’ll go out on a limb and say I don’t mind him. He makes it entertaining. He’s a horrible ref, but I agree that I don’t think he has it out for us. He sucks for everyone
  4. The more I think about it, the more torn I am about what he did. I do understand him wanting to chase football royalty status and win things, it’s what the game is about after all. I don’t think he “owes” us anything, per se, but I do think he passed up a very unique opportunity to inspire a club, it’s fans, and become a local (if not a national) legend. Now he’s just another piece of the corporate machine that is modern football. It still stings that he had the option to go or stay, and he chose to go. It wasn’t a move forced or encouraged by the club. He had a hard decision to make and chose to leave. That sucks. I’ll be booing him tomorrow
  5. Didn’t make it to VP today, spent the day walking around the city centre. Have to say that I love the German Market. I got some fries there with whatever the hell burgersouss is and they were fantastic. Also got to go to St. Martin’s and St Philip’s churches which were awesome (I’m a religious history dork, studied it at university). Did the Bull Ring shops and market. Brum > London and I’m not just saying that to pander. There’s way more character here.
  6. If I go out to VP tomorrow and just walk around am I going to get weird looks?
  7. Central Brum is ******* gorgeous. Sorry we couldn’t make lunch @sidcowwe got here very recently. Walked around just a bit and popped into the Old Joint Stock Pub
  8. Whoever started the Greene King has it made. They own like every pub in London
  9. Same. I asked a couple people what they’ll do at VP for him. Nobody said they’ll clap. One person said they’ll just stand there, the rest said they’ll boo him. I don’t think it’ll matter what people want to do, I highly highly doubt he’s going to play Wednesday.
  10. A couple of reflections the day after: Villa is truly a family. Everyone is so nice and welcoming to us, even though it was our first time. I had to rewatch the goals back on social media because once the ball goes into the net at the stadium it’s just mayhem. Villa fans definitely seemed loudest even though there was only a few of us. We went to Prince George before and it was SO packed by the time we left. Really fun atmosphere (hard to get a beer though)
  11. Another thing that caught me off guard was the player entrance. At VP the players walk out of a large tunnel with the European Cup and trophies. At Selhurst they walked out of like a plastic covered tunnel.
  12. Also it was the first time I heard the “football in a library” chant. Pretty damn funny
  13. What a ******* day. I don’t really know what to say other than unbelievable. Met some fantastic people. I’m going to lose my voice. Got hugged by a stranger after McGinn scored. Introduced a few people to Minnesota Lions. Watched a couple Palace fans get kicked out after yelling at Villa fans? Not really sure what the point is, that’s an expensive ticket just to talk trash at. Is Selhurst Park tiny? I have to imagine VP will be way bigger
  14. About to go off wifi for the day. Going to find one of these before the match. UTV and see everyone soon!
  15. This is warm compared to Minnesota right now, so we’ll take it. Another couple things I noticed: the car dealerships by Brentford’s stadium (which looked pretty nice tbf) are ridiculous. Who needs a 5 story car dealership? I saw a truck with an advertisement for something called Poundland. That’s an… interesting choice for a business name
  16. Two biggest things so far: 1. Border control is so far from the gate at Heathrow that my wife’s Apple Watch thought we were taking an outdoor walk 2. Feels good to be here
  17. We’ll be in Brum Monday until Thursday. London until then
  18. On our way to the airport. If you see a couple wearing Minnesota Lions scarves, don’t be afraid to say hi
  19. Unless I’m being stupid (and there is a distinct possibility of that), it looks like the Southern Line goes from London Bridge to Norwood Junction?
  20. I would 100% take you up on meeting up. Our hotel is right near Victoria
  21. The website is an absolute cluster. My first experience trying to get into my account, link my claret membership, and then find my tickets was much harder than it should be. Not the end of the world, but with how seamless everything is becoming these days, that was remarkably the opposite experience with the website.
  22. Any recommendations on the best way to get to Selhurst? We’ll be coming from near Buckingham Palace. I’ll try to figure it out myself, but will also take any tips.
  23. I didnt say he created a fake injury. I’m just saying that if he is injured/sick, I think he might extend the rehab process past the VP match. I really don’t think he’s looking forward to having to show his face back at VP again. It’s pretty obvious he’s feeling the heat of having left, otherwise he wouldn’t be posting on social media defending his move. It also doesn’t help that he’s not exactly been a top professional since he left. He’s on the front page of the tabloids and partying it up, all the while struggling to make his mark in a team that clearly did not need him.
  24. Wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest if this is dragged out another couple weeks to avoid his presence back at VP
