  1. I think the comment about the weather was him comparing it to where he has played before in Slovakia. I don't think he knew the weather wouldn't be as bad as it is there. Also wesley is clearly friendly with the other guys and has worked very hard on his English and likely knows 3 or 4 other languages at least passably.
  2. You can't compare us to Leicester because when they were in the championship they had a competent manager and owner for the full season they went and up (and presumably before) they took risks on players some failed some succeeded like vardy, Schmeichel, drinkwater, Albrighton, matty James, mahrez before they even got promoted. They had 6 or 7 starting 11 players from the team that got promoted. We have really 1 player of that quality grealish and 3 maybes with mings, mcginn and el ghazi and 2 of them only technically signed this year. All of them are deeply floored but can get better but we were no where even close to Leicester.
  3. Elmo can cut it just not against the top teams. Against Norwich, soton Everton etc. He will be fine
  4. They wanted 25 for maupay 10 mil more than they accepted. They wanted to mug us off like with Webster as well cost Brighton 15 million less. We refused to pay the prices that they inflated for us and let's face it neither Webster or maupay are really on fire either.
  5. Since they play 3 at the back a big striker would be much more useful as they can pull the central cb out of position and destroy their shape.
  6. We would lose out on your exceptionally interesting criticism of wes. Although I'm sure if trez didn't score in a game you would find a way to blame Wesley.
  7. They spent 170 million on like 6 players everyone else they either got really lucky with their prices or were a youth product. Iheanacho, Maddison, Tielemans 100 million for those 3 pereira another 25.
  8. According to Uefa it is the 7th best league in the world. But the gap between 2 (the prem) and 3 ligue 1 is massive.
  9. If we are going to take that big a risk surely you would buy De bruyne. Young talented everything you could want in a player.
  10. I'd replace (luiz/hourihane/nakamba). Our biggest weakness is currently our midfield. We lose the ball to easily which puts us under pressure which makes us concede. We are still 8th in the league in goals and over the next 4 games we play the bottom 3.
  11. Yet I can't actually think of a game where he has been our worst player. In every game we have had at least 1 worse performer so if your worst player is never your worst player then that suggest he isn't actually that bad.
  12. The reason it is called the British Isles is because the largest island is named great Britain. Like how oceania used to be called Australasia after Australia the largest part of that continent. Also you didn't say the Irish government were disputing the name they were disputing the inclusion of Ireland within the British Isles which as you have happily pointed out in your reply is in fact wrong. Actually I was wrong about the D-day landings which whilst was my mistake and I am happy to admit it. However if I was right how would arguably the most important event in the last 100 years be a sign of British imperialism. This is us talking about the stopping of a genocidal maniac not about hur De hur britannia rules the waves. But since we were both wrong about Brittany you to a greater extent suggesting the main island in the British Isles is called brittany*. As to the reason why the channel islands are considered part of the British Isles I'm not certain but I do know that they are also part of the British Islands (which is different - to the 'Atlantic archipelago' if that is what you want to call it). GB means great Britain. Great in GB refers to brittany a French province hmmmmm. Maybe what you meant to say is that Great Britain only refers to the largest island of the British Isles. And whilst invasion and conquering may be regrettable it was a necessary evil and without it the world would be divided into thousands of states and would be 1/5 as developed as there would be no large institutions of education. Look at sub-saharan Africa they had neither the terrain nor the incentive to form large kingdoms for extended periods of times except for the horn of Africa and the Mali Empire. Due to this during the Age of Discovery the colonial empires easily exploited these nations as they were less developed as they weren't unified. (this isn't political to be clear just pointing out though the consequences of war may be regrettable but war was completely necessary) So how about when you try and reply to my post read what you said originally and make sure that when you try and contradict me you don't actually contradict yourself.
  13. Only way we would get him is if Liverpool offered us 50+ mil and him for grealish.
  14. OK many things wrong here. Great Britain (Just the largest island-which is what the great refers to) is the island with England Wales and Scotland. The British Isles is very well defined and includes Great Britain, Ireland, Isle of Man, hebrides, Guernsey, Jersey (and the other channel islands) and another 6000 smaller island. It is a geographic fact that Ireland is part of the British Isles. Secondly Brittany isn't part of the British Isles because it is a province in France which used to be an independent nation. It is the sticky outy bit that is the closest part of France to lands end. Many of the D-day landings were also in that part of France. I couldn't imagine being that ignorant about a topic then proceeding to bullshit my way through it. Edit: Also Ireland only disputes the name British Isles not their membership on the basis that the Irish aren't british. That would be like Jamaica insisting they aren't a caribbean island.
  15. Plus josh King who is probably their best player is currently out injured so they may struggle to pick up points for a while.
  16. Mousset plays for the blades and because he rotates with their other strikers he will remain fresh throughout the season which cannot be said for wesley. Same for any other striker with low goals to minute ratio. That tells me that they have a decent backup who can play 30 minutes here or there and likely started over them 4 or 5 times. It is easier to score when your opponents are tired. Edit: Also other strikers get to be replaced after they have done the job whereas wesley will pretty much always play the full 90. If you want other striker and winger comparisons Wesley has scored more than: Mcburnie, joelinton, pepe, Benteke, Connolly, Kean, Solanke, Yarmalenko, Andre Gray. We have created a lot of chances but our last 7 games we have played the top 6 and have only scored 8 goals. We will see more representative play from wesley over the next 4 games where goals will come easier to us and he is more likely to score. And again you can compare him to De bruyne because whilst De bruyne is leading the league in assists goalscoring is a big part of his game. He is recognised as one of the best long shot takers in the world so being unable to compare a striker in a struggling team to an important goal scorer on a free scoring team is reasonable. For percentage of goals involved in for De bruyne 29.5%, Wesley 22% and debruyne you know best player on Man City. Grealish for comparison has 35%
  17. On the other hand there also happens to be a massive gap in league position. Where is Firminho? In goals to minutes because that is really who we want wesley to be and I imagine it is likely quite similar maybe 10-20 minutes off. Edit: to be clear although Firminho has 3 more assists than wesley Liverpool have scored 17 more goals than us (wesley goal or assist in 23% of our goals, Firminho 20% of their goals) mane and salah have combined for 16 goals 9 more than our starting wingers who a central striker is most likely to assist. And why can't I compare the number of goals wesley has scored to de bruyne? He is considered to be the best player in the league and plays in the best attacking side in the league. Just because de bruyne doesn't play in that position. I mean you could say comparing pogba to josh King (this is from last season) is an unfair comparison. But pogba played in a better side than king and scored more goals. Would you say josh King is bad and can't score goals? Now de bruyne is a much better than pogba and when they were both healthy de bruyne scored 2 more goals than him so I think
  18. As a team our movement is very poor and should be worked on every day in training. If Dean isn't doing this I would be very disappointed. But as I said you can't just complain that wesley doesn't do it when no one else does as well. I also think that our highball crosses are very silly considering we no longer have Abraham and we should instead cross with low bouncing balls which are much harder to defend as it is very easy to deflect them into your own net. Low crosses are almost always better which is why targett is so dangerous because he plays low ball across the face of goal.
  19. We don't know where he is supposed to be. He is likely following Smith's instructions about his positioning on the pitch. He needs to do better in the box but as I have said for the 6th or 7th time everyone else needs to do better as well. I think we should use him like a centre in basketball do a pick and roll. Just have him stand up straight and strong and let players run into him either we win a free kick opposition ran into him or whoever is on the ball is free. It won't create mismatches like in basketball but we saw how effective it is on Sunday with soyuncu screening elmo and letting Evans get free.
  20. There are so many good insults about someone who thinks this is relevant because guess what DS, purslow and suso all knew what they were getting when they bought him. They were getting a work in progress player who has scored as many goals in the prem this season as Ayew, Firminho (hasn't scored in the same number of games as wesley), Haller, Mahrez, De Bruyne, Martial and 1 less goal than Son, Lacazette, Jesus, Mousset.
  21. That is the thing. Even when confronted by evidence of him doing well people on villa talk are continuously insisting that he is shit. Maybe let your opinion change when shown he can do well.
  22. First of all he isn't costing us more points than he is earning us. It isn't his fault we couldn't d up the back post twice (nearly 3 times) against united. 2nd even if engels had been on he isn't very quick so may not have gotten back in time anyway. Aside from that mings has clearly been nursing the injury to his hamstring since last season with him pulling up with "cramp" in 2 of our playoff games. Now that he is in the England team and playing on a more consistent basis he is no longer getting enough time off to recover. It is no coincidence this occurred after a 3 game week.
  23. Needs to be dropped for the Sheffield game so he is raring to go in the next 3.
  24. I think you mean we don't attack through the middle because none of our central midfielders come short so it has to go out wide.
  25. Exactly but we aren't trying to win a championship we are trying to stay up. And winning games is what that takes. You only need to have a good defence if you are competing look at Liverpool and how their defence was shit and they finished 3rd every year. I also honestly think our defence is a symptom of our midfield. Not defensively but once we win the ball back we almost never keep it for more than 10-20 seconds. It is either a huge long ball well clear of Wesley which is basically impossible to win. Or a weird bouncing clearance that ends up with their full backs or we try and pass it out but with no movement we are very predictable and easy to cut out and stop.
