  1. Ref better not forget that shirt pull when the ball goes out
  2. Not sure why that wasn't a foul on Rodgers
  3. I would've as well, giving the option to go more attacking if we (as may be expected) fall behind. But we look very competitive and it's a classic Emery approach to go on the front foot so I'm not exactly upset that's what he's done. Feel like we're slightly losing the battle though and they defintely look more likely to score at the moment.
  4. So maybe starting their regression to the norm. All season they've got results their performance's didn't deserve. Despite the ref and VAR's best efforts they still only managed a draw. They'll finish below Cheslea and possibly West Ham when they don't have Europe to worry about.
  5. Again, compare it with the delay for giving the Bournemouth one. There's only one way that happens given both incidents were more than a little questionable.
  6. I'm curious what you think he could have done with his arm? It was already in a natural position away from his body. It deflects as he moves his arm further away then retracts his arm as close to his body as possible. It then hits the top of his arm as its by his side. There's no way it's a penalty. Never in a million years is that given against United.
  7. Maguire handball not one if the Bournemouth one was? Personally I think neither were. Not even close.
  8. In fairness, that was outside the box, but it doesn't change the fact the ref didn't even want to give it and already showed his true bias several times over. You can only do that so much
  9. But he gave it knowing it probably gets overturned by the Corrupt VAR....probably.
  10. And now ignoring a blatant corner. Corrupt or biased...one or the other
  11. There's blatant bias in this refs performance
  12. You're seeing things if you think he moved towards it. He's standing there, the ball is coming at his arm and he has nowhere to move it so tries one way then the other but it still hits him when it's down by his side. Absolute joke of a decision.
  13. How on earth has the ref given that. Has to be over turned
  14. It's a joke of a system and process. They've convoluted and made subjective the things VAR can get involved in to the point where anything they do can be argued as correct. Even when it is demonstrably and completely wrong. I don't mind the concept of VAR (getting wrong/missed decisions corrected)... but if this is the best they can come up with it needs scrapping. I'm sure it could be done better, but not by the people at PGMOL, the Premier League or the FA.
  15. Indeed. It could be a cut that will be healed and no potential recurrence delay, or a niggle that is undergoing a scan that may reveal more. No guarantees Emery even reveals more but he's generally been quite open so I'd definitely be asking!
  16. But we don't need to win the tie. So zero on a good night for our defence could also be enough. (Edit: I know a 0-0 for Emery is an extremely rare occurrence so probably a pointless comment) They'll look to control the ball at home, much the same way they did at villa park. They will be maybe slightly more adventurous, and that should play into our ability to exploit the gaps that brings in transition. I'm predicting a high scoring game. David surely won't be as bad as he was last night, but if we're in it, we'll find more chances ourselves. So logic would point to a higher scoring game. If it goes that way, I'd expect us to get the better of it. If its a cagey affair with few opportunities then I'd be more concerned strangely.
  17. It does, but all the chances they missed that Emi saved, they were purely down to football being football. We know Emi is world class, we accept that our high line will demand saves from him. I believe one of his great saves would have been brought back for offside if it had gone in anyway. We scored two, and should have had a penalty to probably make it 3. So overall, you can say our gameplay worked and should have got a more positive scoreline than we did. Emery knows we are relatively poor at defending corners, and so he prefers to just not concede then in the first place. We let them have too many opportunities to win a corner, and conceding 3 will be something Emery will probably be as unhappy about as conceding a goal from one. He doesnt want to compromise the way we play 90% of the match just to have better personnel at defending a corner. Not least because injuries mean we probably can't anyway. It's all a balancing act, and one Emery continues to do exceptionally well. Hopefully we can get more players in like Rogers who have both the technical ability and the height and strength to win a defensive header.
  18. This sounds like something totally not football related
  19. Would have been a pretty soft free kick. They don't get given generally these days. There wasn't a pull or drag, just a putting of his arm in the way
  20. I'd being KKH on at right back. It's a gamble but we are so exposed with Carlos at the back. It's more of a gamble to leave it as is imho. Something needs to change in the middle of the pitch too. Youri has done some decent interceptions and tackles, but between those moments we're getting torn apart. Maybe Tim on for Tielemans. Another gamble but again, one I think we need to take due to the way we're currently exposing the back line.
  21. Without wanting to tempt fate, David isn't a patch on Watkins...
  22. But he has been part of our only decent 11 over the last few weeks. Current form, fitness, tiredness affected maybe, but he's a player in form.
