I think last night tells you how poor our back up players are. The drop in quality from Emi to Olsen is huge. Same from Digne to Augtinson. I think if we had started Emi last night we would’ve won that game. Disappointed to go out of the cup! -

Such an inconsistent ref. Ball strikes the hand of a United player. Ref gestures that his hand is by his side. 2 mins later handball given against Konsa for exactly the same thing.

I’m all for our players going to big tournaments, I’m also not too upset by this. Nice to have Luiz and Buendia with the group for the mini preseason!

Probably the best 45 mins of possession and pressing I’ve seen from us since we got back into the Premier League. We looked tired by the end of the half. Smart subs needed second half to keep the work rate up!

There’s no doubt Big Cuts was liked among the staff and players. But this is Unai’s decision and right now he gets what he wants. We have a really good keeper who IMO hasn’t been great this season. Hopefully this will see an upturn in performance!

Sorry, you’ve misunderstood me. I’ll be patient with Unai like I was with Gerrard. I think we need to leave the manager do his job now for 3-4 seasons. But the first three are complete free hits, in that I will read nothing into the matches (good or bad). And hope that the WC break will give him the time to get his ideas across to the players.

I think we have a decent team but we struggle to get the best 11 on the pitch in a formation that works! For me our best 11 (ignoring injuries) is Martinez Cash Carlos Mings Digne Luiz Kamara Bailey Ings Watkins Buendia. But I don’t see a formation that works for that team.

Unai needs to work out a system quickly. For me our two starting full backs (Cash and Digne) are a real weak link. He also needs to get the midfield balance right and I’m still to be convinced of Watkins and Ings playing together! I think our players from an individual point of view aren’t bad. The team is peppered with good international standard players. We have just looked poorly coached for the last 18months. I hope Emery gets us playing as a unit and more than the sum of the parts. For me it’s a free hit until the WC break. I’d hope to see his style come through after that!
