I wonder how many other sides have such a poor record with signings and struggling to offload overpaid, unwanted players... we must be one of the worst, ever. The amount of wasted money just doesn’t bear thinking about does it? I really hope those days are over and the players we bring in only improve us. Obviously difficult to have a near perfect record but maybe we can do drastically better...

Agreed but not for free, we should be able to get modest fees for them.

Yeah would’ve much preferred Martinez, if he was gettable, as a good long term option. At least Romero would be an upgrade on Nyland, Steer & Kalinic.

Just a random one (this is the speculation thread after all) and fairly unrealistic but maybe we should be looking at taking advantage of situations like this (where a player is out of favour or frustrated at a lack of game time at a “bigger” or more successful team - especially with the Euros coming up). Such a signing could be a big breakthrough for us and attract higher calibre players. We have to demonstrate our intent and ambition somehow.

Ambitious loan move for Ndombele? Not in favour at Spurs and just the kind of presence we need in midfield.

Most likely but he may consider a change occasionally after last season’s experience. Edouard/Watkins Grealish McGinn CM Buendia Luiz Targett Mings Konsa Cash Heaton Without the addition of a strong CM we look really weak/lightweight in midfield. Even with GrealIsh in the centre of a 4-3-3. Probably wouldn’t be good to shift McGinn from the first XI so soon and potentially cause unrest but competition is also needed to bring the best out of everyone.

So he can focus on creating and scoring. Or 4-2-2-1-1? A more narrow system (no wingers) with the full backs bombing on and a strong, physical CM dropping back with Luiz. We seem a bit lightweight in midfield and I don’t rate Nakamba, not as a starter anyway. Seems too small, lightweight and technically limited for a “destroyer”. Was overpowered easily in many games and poor on the ball (not a good passer). He is good at tackling and interceptions though but should be no more than a sub unless he drastically improves. We need some flexibility anyhow and were too limited by our poor squad.

I’m sure we are trying to get the best that we can, let’s just wait and see before reacting too strongly.

I think it’s possible to do really well for considerably less than it would cost to get Tammy, and potentially a player that is even better if we get it right (good scouting). Tammy will cost a huge fee and huge wages and I don’t think he’s attainable anyway. We have to be better at identifying players and potential, that’s a much better and less costly process.

I really hope so, hope we’re not just signing more familiar and lower quality players (eg Wilson). I’m sure we are looking at younger players with big potential though and not wasting funds and wages on older, short term signings. Edouard is a link that excites me, he looks really talented with good technique and has a great scoring record for such a young player. Honestly, I can’t see how anyone can have a clue at this point. We must’ve appointed Lange for a reason... Hoping for some stunning signings out of left field!

I don’t think the press, reporters and “ITKs” actually have any idea about the kind of business we will be doing. There is too much BS & baseless speculation out there nowadays... Best not to pay too much attention until we actually have bids accepted and start bringing players in.

Just be patient mate and ignore all the speculation and internet rumours. We’ll see how we’re looking once we get a few signings completed. You never know, it’s possible that none of the players we’re actually after have even been reported on. Plenty of reason for hope and optimism, we need to take the impetus from staying up forwards and I’m sure we will make progress. Forget the doubts, we’ve been improving year on year since NSWE & Dean arrived. We can’t expect instant success, these things take time and its a step by step process. UTV

Wilson? Hopefully just another “smokescreen”. We need a quality, reliable striker. Out of all the links/rumours so far, I’d like us to prioritise Edouard. Or a surprise signing ...

If we are getting Watkins, I’d like us to bring in Benrahma too (links have gone quiet but maybe that’s a good thing, linked up well with Watkins and would help the pair to settle & perform more quickly). Ollie won’t be signed to play wide (makes no sense and why interfere with his progress and form?), he’ll be playing CF where he has developed and hit form. Doesn’t make sense to play him wide where he has never really stood out or “shone” unless it’s covering for injuries etc. Personally, I would have liked us to go for a bigger signing in that position but who knows? He could be a revelation, needs quality around him to score though... Benrahma & another winger would be great and much needed. Honestly though, if these end up as our main signings in attack, I feel we cannot be as ambitious as we hope quite yet and will be making slower progress than anticipated. Hard to judge anything yet, until we have most of our business completed...

Despise Man U, always have and always will. There has never been a more arrogant & sly club & fanbase. The “fans” are more sickening & entitled than ever before. Would love to see their (further) decline & downfall and for us to surpass them... I don’t think it’s out of the realms of possibility with our owners... what a day that would be... Rather give em Hogan or both? They’d get goals in the SPL surely. Saves Celtic having to source another striker. Biggest issue, as ever, is wages though. We’ve overpaid poor players for far too long.
