  1. Not happening mate… it’s gonna either be this or the plain yellow drop shadow crap. I think it’s best to stop hoping for or expecting anything better than this version here. Unless they decide to use just the lion on the shirts. But the crest will be one of the two.
  2. Old news but… if it’s a choice between this (although I’d prefer darker detailing/contrast on the lion) and the plain yellow drop shadow shit… then this will have to do Don’t think we’re going to get anything like what we want…
  3. The names we’ve been linked with are Palacios and Varela… scouts have been noticed at Porto games… and we seem to enjoy raiding Leverkusen (might be more difficult now though)…
  4. As ever… we need a big b*stard DM who can also play and move
  5. Come on John… we need Suoer John McGinn for these last few games… Been utterly immense under Unai and a huge part of our progress and a big factor in where we are and what we are trying to achieve… Don’t turn on the players who have taken us all this way and put in so many monster performances… Time for us fans to show the kind of loyalty we demand from the players… and appreciation… anyone can show support when things are rosy, true fans are those who stick with it and be supportive in the difficult moments too… have some perspective. let’s not be fickle, arrogant and entitled which seems to be the trend these days… show some class, like our manager and players UTV
  6. Could be a turning point and necessary humbling in his career for him to kick on to a higher level… he has played pretty much non stop and deserves credit for that let alone the amazing performances and run of goals at VP in 2023. He was on course to be our player of the season (and that’s what everyone was saying, the best we have) had that form continued… but it’s Ollie’s now and, if we’re saying he should be overall player of the season (and he does, has deserved and earned it, most goal contributions and a regular match winner) then he’s definitely ours… Dougie is a proper top class player who will rise above this blip or adversity and be all the better for it… no one can be 100% all the time. He’s going to get even better… Hopefully, with a better and deeper squad next season, we can keep players fresher and more in form and avoid burnout, fatigue and injuries to the degree we have had to contend with this season… it’s a learning and development process for most of them too… will only be better for it. Back the lads… we’ve done alright
  7. Come on Dougie, give us a monster performance then (you too John!)
  8. Guess we will just have to wait and see… I don’t imagine Olsen continuing as second choice regardless… at this point, he should not be playing for us in the Champions League!!
  9. Once again… it’s fine and even admirable to support and show some belief in a player like Olsen… abuse is never on but proper or constructive criticism is… we can’t keep carrying passengers any more… it’s full steam ahead now under King Unai… if we want to improve… we have to strengthen in as many positions as possible… it’s quite simple. It’s just so obvious that Olsen is not up to standard and is a relatively poor, error prone and mostly nervous (sick of seeing this trait in Villa players, want it gone!) goalkeeper… even worse… that nervousness and anxiety spreads to other players in the team… it’s not something we should have to always contend with… simply not good enough for where we want to go and be…
  10. Conversely… if we had a decent second choice keeper, he would play more games than Olsen has… Emi could be rested in cup competitions and against weak(er) opposition… The problem we have is that the drop off is too severe… so Emi HAS to play as much as possible, even if he’s not at 100%. Can see a young keeper, possibly Gauci, getting much more game time (beginning next season) than Olsen has and who better to learn from and develop under than the world number 1?? A decent veteran keeper would still be better and bring less nerves and anxiety than he does too… but better and more beneficial to develop our future keeper who could, one day, eventually take over from Emi… or the roles become reversed… sounds like “big club planning” to me…
  11. Fans brought it… a shame the players didn’t… next time…
  12. This too… one thing that frustrated me is we were trying to play the same way as we do with Emi but… Olsen is not even comparable to him… he can’t do what Emi does so we should adapt and kind of keep the ball away from him a bit…. Stop faffing about with it at the back with Robin… he can’t hack it and usually makes a mistake or boots the ball at a player who is under pressure or marked… it’s fine when Emi is there but Robin is not up to the same task. We just couldn’t get the ball into and hold onto it in midfield enough… was so disappointing. Needed McGinn and Luiz to stand up and take control of the game but they were just not at it…
  13. Yeah… I don’t think there is any getting away from this. We can back n support him (and he’s not solely responsible for defeats like this) but… there really isn’t any doubt that he is a poor goalkeeper and, despite some visible although slight improvements, just exudes and gives off negative vibes, anxiety, nerves… Emi brings so much positivity, leadership, confidence and a degree of comfort… the defenders know they can trust him, he is in charge (Robin never is, not at all commanding) and he will bail them out at times… He’s not strong or confident enough… some very weak attempts at saves at times… lets in some really cheap goals… Don’t think we can afford to mix up the defence if we have to play Olsen either… need our strongest and regular players to help him out. Lenglet was poor/rusty and looked scared/nervous too… Carlos was immense vs Arsenal but poor and “frazzled” vs Chelsea… it’s like Olsen makes our defenders error prone or just nervous too… his anxiety spreads to others… Robin just injects anxiety and nerves into the side unfortunately and needs to be moved on… Maybe Sinisalo is ready if Gauci is not… - Regardless, he’s not the only one to blame nor the only one who deserves criticism but… there is a worrying trend or pattern and we look a different side when he has only more often than not… We have to move on from him, he can be a liability and we’ve got to move on from that sort of thing… it’s why Chambers never really gets a look in really. I was really disappointed in McGinn and Luiz btw… we needed control of that midfield but they failed… but… they will be back and much improved. Been brilliant much more often than not… players seem drained, mentally as well as physically… need one final push from them.
  14. I’m with Unai… YOU ARE OUR LIGHT
  15. Backing him to show what he is really made of asap… big test of character for him and a significant point of his career and development. If we are supporters… let’s actually support our (better) players and those that have brought us all this way… N not be shitty, petty, fickle and entitled like other fanbases…
  16. Poor performance, haven’t been too many of those from Dougie…. but… form is temporary, class is permanent and he has it in abundance. He will return and hopefully fired up to perform and overcome what is quite a big challenge for him now… and I back him to overcome it and become even better. I’m not going to lose faith in and turn on the players that are a massive part of our success and progress so far…
  17. Get your point mate and usually respect your opinion.
  18. The next step in Heck’s master plan
  19. Maybe it isn’t ideal but… you can shrink that plenty and still distinguish the lion or shape… even in sunlight… you’d still be able to make it out… or just make the lion claret altogether! Seeing it on the shirt… it wouldn’t just be a blurred yellow blob Again, a quick, easy, cheap (?) fix… But we deserve a hell of a lot better… fat chance of that…
  20. I don’t really think this is the case either mate… ok, maybe the colours to a degree but the lion is a big enough difference (and why it should be vivid and prominent) from hammers… personally… I’m not sure we even need a full crest… maybe the unique ASTON VILLA LION is enough and can be iconic… I’ve always associated our colours and our club as the most vibrant and bold too… West Ham & Burnley colours and especially shirts are quite bland, dark and dull in comparison… personally… I’ve always seen a big difference… we just need to perfect the design of the badge and not worry about comparisons to other clubs imo… they should all look up to, respect and fear us
