  1. we need to have 2 goal cushion before HT, otherwise will get into trouble in 2nd half.
  2. I am aware of 500-extra-pounds interview service, but it does not guanrentee the visa on that day. Never heard of the £5000 service though. It makes more sense from club's point of view to get Jedinak a new certificate of sponsorship (which may takes 1 week), than asking him to apply for ILR (which may takes 1-2 weeks after the interview to receive the passport back, or even longer), in order to complete the transfer. That said, I do prefer the Australian Visa system. At least I don't need to pay for the medicare (NHS) for the permanent residency!
  3. Well, this transfer could have been done a week ago as Jedinak clearly didn't apply for his permanent residency on time! A done deal then. Unless his beard doesn't pass the medical.
  4. @mwj had a point. As a T2 visa holder, one can only have up to 6 years working visa, and before the end of the 6 years s/he must apply for permenant residence otherwise s/he must leave UK. I believe Jedinak joined Palace in 2011, therefore he must have just met the criterion of '5 years residence in UK under Tier 2 visa', which gives him the eligibility of applying for Pemanent residency. Chances are, Jedinak hasn't apply for the Permanent Residency yet, therefore he needs another 'Tier 2 sponsorship' to play for Villa. If he has already obtained the permanent residency (i.e. IRL), then he can join Villa without letting Home office know. I believe this is why Jedinak's case took some time to complete. Normally Tier 2 sponsorship/certificate takes 1-2 weeks to complete. BTW, the way how non-EU skilled workers have been dealt with by home office is simply unfair, although this may not be related to Brexit. PS2: Yeah, DoiD i know exactly what you were trying to say :).
  5. No, but close. Will be even closer if we manage to win tomorrow.
  6. I like to park two buses in front of our goals so 10-0-0 it is.
  7. I guess what was shown from the poll data was pretty much what we expected. Most wanted a change (from Lerner), most care about the actual match results than who Xia is. Xia will have a hard time if the team cannot stay in the play-off region by the end of September. His best move is to take as much pressure as he can from RDM and the team, ofc in a proper way.
  8. Which story I shared in my post are you questioning? I am curious. If you are referring to '50 dollars an hour story', I would love to send you the link to my photo on that (happened to me in Canberra) - A few friends of mine also had that experience in Australia/France and US and I can find you some blogs on that (you may not believe but it is up to you really). Why do I need to convince anyone that 'China is there for Tibets own good'? What did I say that made you think that I was attemping to convince anyone on this matter (i.e. everything is perfect in Tibet)? That argument itself it quite amusing really - First you have to define the 'own good'. Do you mean returning back to Slavery system? Or you mean 'anti-modernization'? Or are you referring to 'the presence of soldiers on just about every roof top and patrols through the town'. Since you said you have been to Tibet before, do you know why there are even presence of soldiers there? You heard of those terriorist attack there some years ago? As I said, Tibet issue is quite complex and there are good things and bad things from my own experience. I didn't attempt to convince you one side or another (apologies if you thought so). BTW: this has nothing to do with this thread and let's settle here. I should have not replied to your post at the first place. My bad.
  9. Depending on how you look at it, mate. If things are so easy to reach a conclusion, everyone can get a PhD degree in History/Politics from Youtube or so-called University of Inter Web. I personally have been in Tibet a few times for tourism, for studying, for charity work. I shared my student dorm with 6 people in Uni, 2 of them were from Tibet (one from poor family and one from rich-ish). I have seen (my personally experience, rather than 'stories' from internet ) something good, something bad. No one can reach a one-sided conclusion on this matter, defo not from biased (either way) online materials. A few years ago, someone tried to pay me 50 dollars a hour to join their protest team for so-called Tibet freedom (they want Chinese faces in their team you know...). One guy from that group who looked like european (French or Italian I cannot be sure) asked me to raise a flag that has a world map with some markers on it. I asked that guy: do you know where Tibet is? He pointed, somewhere near Uzebekstan first, then Mongolia, then Vietnam. I pity him.
  10. you mean changed from a slavery society ruled by a monk leader, when the skins of the slavery were used to make drums in early 20th century?
  11. 1. RB and LB were very poor. I don't understand why they made so many back passes to the goalie. No quality crosses from them either. I don't see why other posters complained about the RB. IMO, LB is even poorer. 2. Quite a few times I noticed there was no defending in front of CBs during transitions. VERY poor positioning of DMC/MCs. Need a better one before the next match. 3. No one can control and hold the balls during transition from defending to attacking. This was exactly why we were so poor in the 1st half. 2nd half the whole formation pushed up, and resolved this problem. Need a good AMC/MC to hold and distribute the ball.
  12. first match of the season, 1 point is good enough. 3 points will be fantastic. I don't neccesarily expect to see beautiful football. Too many new faces in the XI and we need at least a draw to build the confidence up.
  13. You do know that Celtics often play in the champions league right?
  14. I think racist is a bit strong word to use here. I don't think you are a racist, Richard, at least from what I read about your posts. But I believe some posters here are xenophobic, and I experienced that since day one when I came here. I can easily name a few but that will do no one no good and lead to unncessary arguments. I think you are skeptical, like to keep calm and think about weaknesses and negative aspects (so you can make better judgement). Absolutely nothing wrong with it. @Jarethand some other posters are actually not aiming at you or your posts. Instead, they don't like some criticisms on the current owner with no solid evidence. A spirit of 'benefit of the doubt' is all we need. Imagine this, on the day of wedding, you marry a beautiful woman (or man) and you believe s/he is the most beautiful in the world. One of your guests came up and said: ''Congratulations to you two. From the records, I often heard that beautiful woman is also more likely to cheat from the marriage. Although there is absolutely no evidence at all to suggest your wife/husb will do the same, but I would like to be sceptical on that.'' Even you know exactly your guest does not mean to be rude, you will find it quite annoying. That is what, I think, Jareth and others are arguing about. This example may not be very appropriate but I am sure you know what I am trying to say.
  15. I am not going to vote on this, but I would really like to see the outcome. Even more interested in knowing the answer to the following question: 1) If you are not happy about Xia's approach (whatever it means to you) now (by 5/8/2016), will you change your mind if: A) Xia spent huge net transfer money this window and the winter one B. Xia better manages his twitter account. C) Aston Villa achieving this season better than what you predicted (no matter what it is, based on what you measured using how club was run before) D) Aston Villa play beautiful football (the football you enjoy most, no matter what it is) this season but fail to get promotion E) Aston Villa get promotion at the end of this season F) No, I like to be skeptical and pessimistic no matter what, I think this is important to have this attitude among the fans. it is perfectly fine to be any of these. I just would like to gauge, in order to make fans happy, what Xia need to focus on. Thanks, (Sorry VillaBrum, I don't mean to hijack your post - I just don't think it is necessary to post another poll. But feel free to delete my post if you don't think it is appropriate.)
  16. I don't know much about the youth system in English football, but a 18yo prospect loaned out? Quite risky to me, especially to a lower division, because he may not be physically ready. I would rather get him prepared in the U19 squad in Villa for another year before going to league games. But maybe I just worried too much.... Good luck to him.
  17. If I may say something - From the day of take over, Xia didn't do too many wrong things. Posting controversial messages on twitter is one, in my opinion. He retracted those messages, number 2. Late appointment of TD, number 3 (which may not be neccessarily his fault tbh). Similarly, Xia didn't do too many things that are applaudible either. Communicating with fans on twitter is one (although some fans believe talking too much is no good, which I agree). Spending good money in transfer market is number 2. Showing enthusiasm and the effort in uniting fans are number 3. It is way too early to make any judgement on the new owner, before the ball is even kicked. I saw some posts on twitter (on VT as well) talking about 5+7=12 (good maths though) so they assumed Xia has no money - Bullshit. Equally, someone already called Xia a good owner - too early. I personally will wait till Mid September to make my own judgement - first 7-10 games; transfer market; loan market, and most importantly, how he deals with difficulty if the team does not perform well. What I fear most, is the impatience, possibly because of a few miserable seasons in the past, or because people simply don't like the owner, or any other reasons I dont know. What happens if Villa lose 2 of the first three matches? What happens by Xmas Villa is not in top 5? I don't think fans will necessarily have to 'boo' at VP if Villa lose a few games before October, so let's stay /cautiously/ optimistic now before proven otherwise. If Villa is in the bottom half by Xmas time, I will join you guys to boo at VP (but I guess I'd better disappear by then....), but before that, UTV.
  18. Oh com'on, be ambitous please. Villa vs Real Barcelona (merged one day) will be El Classico one day.
  19. I know what you were trying to say and fully understand what you may 'worry' about. I suggest you/we discussing something realistic/constructive, than this purely illusional, never-going-to-happen stuff.
  20. Fail to see how much business sense it makes tbh. Indeed it can only happens if someone is paranoid. If you are super rich - for example a stake controlling company with trillions of pounds money - you would rather buy all companies (say in retail market) and retain their own brands, so they can work in a coorporative way and possibly dominate the whole market for better profit, rather than merging them into a Retail.LTD (illegal too). In the next 10-20 years, it may well be that a few PL clubs are owned by foreign groups, but merging clubs absolutely won't happen, 100%.
