Also if you drag a player back by his shirt it is a free kick for you. And deliberately blocking a shot with your arm in the penalty area is not a penalty.

No, an anti football side who came here with no interest in playing football get a lucky break, and every major decision given against us. We have not been great but the officiating is a joke. Again.

Not so much parking the bus as playing the game in a bus depot.

Sportswash! - Let’s oil stare at Manchester City!
TheStagMan replied to Zatman's topic in Other Football
I met Roy once when he was England manager, he is a lovely bloke. And frankly, that video just endears him even more. -
I like it. I think it would look good on the front of my Austin 1500. Wait, what? Is a badge for Villa? Fecking hell.
-
I watched that game. United were terrible for most of it. Liverpool also were not very good. I was looking at it thinking that if United play like that against us, we will tear them a new one.

Depends if we want to try and bring in more revenue by making the area a destination, rather than just the stadium for match days. Having fan zones or entertainment venues would help boost revenue. Having slums nearby doesn't. But yes, transport links are vital.

I don't know where I stand on this. The owners have done more than enough to date for me to have faith that they will get our long term future right, but the cancellation (or pause if you believe the words from Heck) are worrying, I am a Villa fan, so the genetic disposition is to fear the worst. In terms of a new stadium, I would be horrified to move from Villa Park. But then I think about it and Villa Park is a bit "Trigger's broom". Yes Villa Park has been our home for 125 years, but the oldest current stand is the North Stand which opened in 1997 (Holte End - 1995, Trinity - 2000, Witton Lane 1994) and the pitch has been re-laid multiple times, so only the North stand remains from our glory days in the early 80's - other than the location, and that is the one we are all (rightly) desperate to knock down and start again. And frankly the area around Villa Park (apart from Aston Hall) is a shithole. Part of me thinks that a new stadium is not a bad idea, but the other part of me is absolutely attached to Villa Park - so many memories and so much history. A grand old stadium that is unique, rather than the soul-less modern bowls with a Tesco in them. So - what to do with Villa Park if we did get a new stadium? The obvious answer is knock it down and build housing, but the area is still a shit-hole. With a could of hundred (maybe?) new houses, it is not going to be that much of an improvement to the area so not like the land is actually worth that much (maybe one Diaby). On that basis, I would prefer that we did what the guy on twitter suggests and massively revamp the area - compulsory purchase the area between Witton Lane and Yew Tree Road and demolish the lot, maybe even as far as the railway line and revamp the whole area boxed between Trinity Road/Jardine Road, Witton Road, the railway line and Aston Hall Road/Expressway, but the costs and hassle of doing so would be astronomical, getting carried away, we could even build a new stadium there and maybe incorporate a train station into the station. Could even buy up the Salts healthcare and Guhring land and build a massive car park there with access directly onto the Aston Expressway - would certainly help with local congestion and would bring in lots of parking revenue (together with local match-day parking restrictions). I know it is massively wishful thinking, but I could accept a new stadium next to Villa Park

I was wondering if they knew something we didn't, then I realised they were pundits, so unlikley.

I think we are in a pretty good place at the moment. The pundits have not been paying attention and think that this is a purple patch for us - but the thing is we have been performing at this level for a year - pretty much from the day Unai joined, and what's more, the manner in which we are achieving the results shows that they are not flukes. Sure, in some games we have ridden our luck but overall the approach and performance is convincing. Whilst I don't expect Mings or Buendia to come back this season in any meaningful way (maybe the last few games, but certainly not match fit), we have Moreno and JJ coming back having missed half the season - so they will be like two new January signings and will be fresh. we don't have any European games until March Overall our playing style is all about conserving energy so I am not worried about fatigue towards the end of the season. Bring it on.

I was pretty angry with him for his stupidity at the time, but watching the replay, that was an incredibly soft red card. I'm not sure that we should appeal as others have said above - hand to face, not likely to be rescinded/reduced - but is there a way to appeal the behaviour of the Brentford players. What Konsa did was no worse than several of them - and as they were not punished on the pitch at the time, is there anything retrospective available?
-
Clearly I did miss the badge farce then. Thanks for confirming.
-
Why are sky using our old badge on the table?
-
Quality commentary team on sky. "eee woz booked for dissent twice, wot does dat mean?" "it means he did it twice"
-
It isn't Football is better off without him, and he does not deserve the huge salary that he is paid.
