  1. luckily for you BOF stands for "Bend Over Foreigner " What's the "h" for? Not "hillarious" obviously 8)
  2. Hands off! He plays for Aberdeen A follower of Aberdeen BOF? I love you more and more with each passing day
  3. Sorry, but did the people blaming Collins ahead of Dunne for the goals watch the right game? Maybe Collins was out-jumped by Crouch (which I didn't notice tbh), but Dunne was out-jumped by VDV FFS. Collins is a great player, although his long balls were crap on this occasion. Dunne more at fault defensively by far, though. As others have said, we began to lose the game as soon as Carew came on for Heskey. Let's not forget that Carew had a slow start to last season and ended up joint top scorer, but he was worse than useless in this game. Petrov and Downing both had good games imo, especially Downing, who is a very very good player, even if the dedicated followers of fashion on VT don't realise it yet. Also thought Ashley Young had a pretty decent game overall. Gabby for Carew and Cuellar for Dunne and we would have been the better side.
  4. Fwoar, controversial stuff there BOF. ( whaddaya mean "taken out of context"? )
  5. I'd be amazed if Clark doesn't play for England at CB one day. Just hope he's still an Aston Villa player by then.
  6. I heard he's a Man Utd fan, or used to be. Hopefully he's now given this away, realising it makes him a cu nt.
  7. Cuellar and last year's Dunne was far more convincing, when Collins was injured. This year our two best CD's are "I'm on the Right" by Carlos Cuellar and the Coconuts and "I'm the Baldie on the Left" by James Collins and the Ginger Nuts. Imo.
  8. I don't think that stacks up TBF. MON had the overwhelming support of the vast majority of match going Villa fans. Indeed, I'd go as far as to say there have been more successful managers (like BFR, Brian Little) who weren't as popular. Not that they were unpopular, you understand. More that the support MON enjoyed was closer to hero worship at times. Fans questioning decisions either in the pub or on internet messageboards is part and parcel of the game. Perhaps his overall appeal was starting to wane. It would have been interesting to see what kind of reaction he would have generated had he overseen a sluggish start to the season or individual results like Newcastle and Rapid Vienna at home. We'll never know - the timing of his departure ensured that if nothing else. Ultimately he enjoyed more favourable conditions than any Villa manager in living memory, popular extended support from the fans and strong financial backing that outstripped even the likes of Manure, Liverpool and Arsenal in recent seasons. Even with all that he still decided to bail when he did. It's history now. GH as an appointment might not have generated the same level of excitement that MON's did back in 2006 - or even DOL's did in 2003. Instead, there might be closer parallels with Fulham's appointment of Woy back in 98. That wasn't an arrival greeted with huge fanfare either. But if -like Woy managed for Fulham- we exceed expectations under GH, I don't think many will ultimately care. How dare you disagree Thing is, although you're right about the last manager getting overall support, there were enough against him for him to be booed on occasion. I'm all for constructive discussion on a manager's decisions, but if it leads to a good manager being abused at VP it's going too far.
  9. Seven out of ten for GH on my Excitement-O-Meter. I'm with the ones who would have preferred to see MON stay and make this his club. But for the love of sweet zombie Jesus, can we please be a bit more united in support of GH than we were with MON.
  10. So "Phil" me in someone. Is Thompson on his way as well? And are we at 666 pages yet?
  11. I don't know, I would prefer a longer term manager and if we hire him I just get the feeling he might **** off after 2 or 3 seasons at the helm. You're probably right, but there aren't a lot of obvious managerial geniuses hanging around at the moment just waiting for the right club to build into something big.
  12. I know McLeish is tainted ( ), but I would take him over Curbishley any day. In fact he'd be my choice ahead of Hughes, Sven, Allardyce and probably KM. Don't understand the deathly silence every time his name is mentioned. He's ambitious, has a good record, and lives locally!
  13. Have we talked about Alec McLeish already? If so, what did we say?
  14. According to the Telegraph via BBC Gossip, McLeish is an option. We could do worse imo. In fact I'd rather we got McLeish than Sparky, who seems a bit of a nobbed.
  15. 1) agree, fantastic defender 2) the Newcastle game knocked the enthusiasm a fair bit, is my guess.
  16. £1,000 to VT if it's Phil Brown. I'll match that. (...and then if it happens, avoid having to cough up by slitting my wrists.)
  17. Voted "Fan" because he's likeable, energetic and an excellent tackler. But he has the "vision" of a bat, and the passing ability of a girl.
  18. I don't think it's that easy mate! You can't just stick the club on ebay and expect a billionaire to come along. Isn't that what Blackburn did?
  19. Excellent work. I think this is what you would call a piss-artist's impression.
