  1. This was a SIGNIFICANT improvement on the Arsenal performance. In horrendous conditions, there was no shortage of skill, passion and desire to win. MON got the tactics spot on and made, I believe, the correct substitutions. He went to win the match and for the last 20 mins we had Liverpool petrified. Agree. As sickening as it is to lose a game in that way, there were a lot of positives: Albrighton didn't have a lot to do, but what he did, he did well. I think he has as much to offer as Ashley Young at the moment, especially with Young out of form and being triple marked all the time. We were at least as good as Liverpool for 92 minutes. Reo-Coker played very well. James Milner seems to be getting low ratings from everyone, but I thought he was just as good as ever. He is truly brilliant, astonishingly good at picking a pass. On the down side, I remember thinking after 5 minutes of the second half "We aren't going to score in this game." As many have said, we lack a class striker. Carew tried reasonably hard, but nearly all of his flick-ons were badly directed. Gabby was quite good, but miles off top class on this display. He never looked like scoring at all. Like at Arsenal, we were as threatening as kittens in the final 3rd. Worrying, that. Agree with all youve said, bar the Milner comment. He is just not as good as being described at the moment. His passing today was at times ok, at others totally woeful, bearing in mind when he went into the middle he was supposed to be our most creative outlet as an attacking midfielder. If we were to buy one player in Jan, I hope its an attacking midfielder with craft, imagination and vision. I only saw one Milner pass that was "woeful". Milner is an attacking midfielder with craft, imagination and vision. Most of the time today the ball was being hoofed over his head from both ends. It seemed to me that whenever Milner was given the ball in space, he did some good with it.
  2. **** hell, now Downing's getting stick! If Downing really is as average as some people think (and he isn't, btw), then we are screwed.

  4. Very worried about this game. We have had a day's less rest than Liverpool, and I thought we looked tired against Arsenal.
  5. It's an idiotic 8 now. Goes to show how there there are always a few complete and utter fuckwits, even among Villa fans!
  6. How have you racked up 464 posts as a troll without being banned? If you have some news for us, let's have the full story, otherwise go away. Sorry - the question was 'what next for MON' - based on he spends roughly 5 years at each club - my beleif is that he will leave villa slightly earlier. I could be wrong probability is he will stay - but I just have a hunch he will surprise us. Do I get a ban for thinking MON won't be our manager for much longer ? My apologies. I thought you were on a windup. Either you thrive on misery, or you don't realise MON's importance to the club. It is beyond me to understand why a Villa fan would come out with a prediction like that.

  8. As others have said, MON would be crazy to take the Man Utd job. Whoever replaces SAF will be in his shadow. Only someone like Mourinho would have the ego to live with that. MON has the chance to be the Matt Busby, or the Bill Shankly of Aston Villa. Even without Villa spectacles on, that would seem more appealing than just following on from SAF. The only reasons MON might leave for imo, would be to retire, or to take the England job. But I think the Randy/MON relationship is probably too good for him to leave for the England job. Here's hoping, anyway.
  9. Congratulations, PoB. You can now afford a year's secure self-storage in West Gosford, Australia. Link
  10. James Milner fought the Law and ... the Law won. It always does.
  11. Hi General, I hate to get you involved in this relatively trivial matter (but I'm going to try anyway!). I have received something from the Villa store which arrived intact, but broke on the day it arrived. In my view this was due to poor manufacturing (I have the photographs to prove it). I have sent two emails and phoned the Villa store, but seeing as the thing arrived intact, all I get is "computer says no". If possible, could you give the address or phone number of someone with a bit of authority, because I don't think it's unreasonable to ask for a replacement.
  12. Interesting ......................... Well then you would have to consider that not all players would take it the same i mean sidwell might look at this poll and think "right i will prove them wrong " and in doing so turn into a world beater ! Fair enough, maybe it depends on the player. But tbh I think most people would agree that popularity breeds confidence, and being unpopular is more likely to make a player want to leave the club. If players are going to leave, let it be because we can sell them for more than they're worth. Knocking their popularity and hence their confidence will make this difficult (imo, of course).
  13. It probably comes down to whether you believe the players read (or get to hear about) the stuff we write on here. Personally I believe they almost certainly do.
  14. Correct. But we're in 4th and now we are playing WELL. I once heard someone say that winning when you're not playing well is the mark of a good team.
  15. Agree. And you didn't say he was world class, you said he was "turning into" world class. He is our best striker, he is only young, he is improving all the time. If he really isn't turning into world class we should sell him and buy someone who is, imo.
  16. Mmm, dunno. A lot depends on Aston Villa. If we are doing well (I'd hate to curse us by giving an example of how well we might be doing) at Xmas the Spanish management will surely take note. If he keeps playing well he won't be dropped, and MON is the sort of bloke who would make sure to come out with a public plea for KC to get a call up.
  17. I think there are some overly negative reactions on here. Our attacking players are in awful form at the moment, especially Ashley Young, as many have said. IMO, though, Milner is another one who is not at his best. To me he's a talented, creative player with added goal threat, not just a workhorse. The workhorse was all we saw today. We already knew that our CM isn't amazing. Sadly with AY and JM not playing well, we are useless in the final third. But: Downing is coming back, and he looks like is still very much has what it takes to bring us up a notch. If the others can start playing as well as they can, we will be a very very potent side. Our defense is easily good enough for top 4. And so is our attack, when on form. And Cuellar: What a game. He is playing with a glint in his eye these days. It's like you can see him thinking "This Premier League thing isn't so hard after all". I hope the Spanish coach gets to watch the match.
  18. 3 haters out of 7! Jeez Risso, sting and Fran are quick off the mark.
  19. Hi mate that image is too close for comfort. That makes sense. Well done! BTW Sting, your avvy is excellent. Tbh though, I thought you'd be Ann's biggest fan 8) Reality: That's nothing. Milner has shagged all five of my current girlfriends.
  20. Hi General, Don't know if there's anything you or the club can do about it, but I notice that ESPN are still using the old Villa crest, or at least they were here:
  21. the question isnt how many would be in the squad though Oh. MMM.
  22. Cheeses. Where's the box that says 6, and what's wrong with you people? With the right kind (ok, miraculous kind) of luck: Emile Heskey Gabby Stewart Downing Ashley Young James Milner Stephen Warnock Could all go, even Luke Young, who would go if 1st choice I bet. If all seven made it, you can bet we'd have finished in the top 4
